'iPhone 15 Ultra' Could Still Replace 'Pro Max' Model This Year

This kind of artificial differentiation within product classes is one of the first things Steve Jobs ditched when he returned to the company. Famously, the example for the way forward was iMac. One iMac. Three configurations: good, better, best. No iMac Pro. No iMac Extra. No iMac Max. Just iMac.
Sure, but you solve that with software that stops charging when the mouse battery is at 80% and only restarts when the battery drops below 20%.
Makes sense to me. Go ahead and make the names more confusing for people.

I always thought Pro Max was a really silly name. Ultra is simpler and certainly an improvement. I just hope this doesn't mean that Apple needs to differentiate the Pro and the Ultra going forward. I'm not a plus sized screen person and always go for the regular sized Pro model.
I heard a rumour that they’d already made millions of Pro Max labeled boxes when Tim changed his mind and decided to call them Ultra. As everyone would be looking out in China for all these boxes being disposed of they shipped them to British Columbia where no one would ever expect before setting them all on fire.

I agree. I think only one titanium iphone with periscope camera called ultra. Screen size between between pro and pro max. That other rumor with 3 usb c ports with thunderbolt kinda gives credibility to 3 high end iPhones.
Remember in 2017 when we got the 8, 8+ and 10. The 10 was I’m the middle screen size, steel frame, and new camera. It was priced higher and sold very well.
Tim likes a lot of products in certain lines. Look at iPad today.

Software won't allow the hardware to go beyond current limit, sadly. They can't even optimize the space on their 12.9" iPad Pro appropriately, I have no faith they'll ever maximize the obscenely large bricks they put out now. Geez, a simple little split-screen action on the phones is beyond their motivations.

Millions of people bought that toy. Just not enough millions for Apple to keep updating it annually (or maybe ever again). Anyhow, I was just giving a shoutout to the little one by adding it to the list. I don’t own one myself.
Another excuse for apple to bilk owners out of more money while still not offering pro features. The features we need are not hardware based — we need more freedom with the OS. Shortcuts that allow system level changes. Allow me to do work faster. Simple things like allowing me to directly upload videos to YouTube from Photos.
