I know 16 plus might be a “major” step down for some people’s and such but honestly 16plus continues to be a beast

I’m floored with it

I’d rather have this longevity over any pro max perks this go round

And it went on a diet with its weight

Hi,

Am i the only one with bad battery life on the 16 pro max?

Sometimes i need to charge it twice in a day and im not even a heavy/power user.

I get like 5:30hours of screen on time
My 14PM had better battery life.

However in the apps i do noticed that Instagram runs 2hours in the background where the 14PM does not have that issue.

Any tips?

Background app refresh is disabled
iOS 18.0.1
80% charge limit enabled
Always charging 20-80%
I get like 4hr30 screen time😔

What a joke this phone has been thus far. I really regret buying it. The 15 Pro Max battery wasn't great but it was certainly better than this train wreck of a battery in a phone.

Just since standing in line in a coffee shop browsing the web the battery has dropped from 58% to 51% in 11 minutes. It’s completely unacceptable.

Yesterday we were at the beach all day and the phone was tucked into my backpack. At 10am it was at 100% and without touching it or doing anything at all by 4pm it was at 51%. Apple’s battery management gets worse every year and I’ve really grown tired of it.
Your best bet is to reset iphone and set up as new iPhone.

The battery life on my 16 pro max is great but I've expected better because of Apple specifically pointed out the battery would be the best we've seen on an iPhone.

In fact, my battery performance is about the same as my 13 Pro Max when I got it 3 years ago on iOS 15.

I always set up my new iPhones from scratch, it gives me a chance to decide what apps I still really need, maybe re-organise my Home Screen and app folders a bit and the time taken gives me a chance to bond with my new phone, but even with a setup as new my 16PM battery life is horrible compared to my 15PM.

Some years ago and many iOS versions ago someone here suggested doing a network reset the only other time I was having battery life issues and that fixed it for me. I’m going to try that in the next few days because it’s a lot less drastic than a factory reset and setup from new.

That is great result.
Other than touch screen issues , pro max 16 has good battery life.
In my case something is causeing battery drain when idle, but we will see , first to fix a screen :)
18.0.1 fixed the screen bug. do you still have it?

18.0.1 fixed apspolutley nothing
I feel like if I don't close the apps completely then the battery drains fast. Since I close them and not keep them in task manager everything is fine. You can try that too. Close everything completely. The other thing I did before the battery was fixed was to charge the phone for 4-5 days to 100% to activate all the cells. These are my observations, I don't know how true or coincidental they are.

I believe you ARE a heavy user. Just “5+ hours of screen time” qualified you.

For the people experiencing noticeable battery drain or just poor performance from a previous phone, should we contact Apple? Or is it purely software even though my 13PM had better battery life on iOS 18.

I’ve been less critical with battery usage and consumption since a couple of years ago now so I haven’t been testing screen on time to battery usage ratio for a while now as I didnt see the need anymore. However you do mention something interesting. I also find it about the same as the 13 pro max. 🤣
Maybe I’ll start keeping an eye on my SOT to battery usage moving forward.

What is everyone’s Home and Lock Screen usage? Mine ranges anywhere from 15-20% of overall battery use through the course of the day across the last 7 days.
