Back in the Apple Clear case today. This case is nothing like the prior iterations—this one is softer with much better buttons and hand feel. It’s also super light at 21 grams. I love it on the Air, which gives me iPhone X and iPod Touch vibes—so light, so comfortable, just perfect.
As for my other cases, the Andar Aspen is lovely, and will be my go to for travel, outdoorsy type stuff, etc. It weighs 37 grams though, which disqualifies it as my daily on this device.
The Beats is not bad, but at 32 grams and with a fairly slippery finish, it can’t compete with the Apple case, so it doesn’t make the cut and will end up on the Marketplace.
The Süti, at 41 grams, is just ridiculously heavy for a case that provides virtually zero protection (IMO, obviously). It also doesn’t make the cut.
Still to come this month are the Pitaka Moonrise Ultra-thin (20 grams) and the Arc Pulse (<20 grams) in polished silver. We’ll see, but I’m betting these two will make the permanent rotation.
So, the Aspen for certain situations that require a bit more protection and grip, then rotating between the Apple, Arc, and Pitaka for everyday use. I won’t be adding any beefier cases, which in my opinion defeat the purpose of the Air. Overall, I’m feeling pretty good about the case situation, and my wife is pleased that I’ve gone from nearly twenty last year down to under five keepers this year… lol.
