Well I've upgraded to 3.1 (Build 7C97d) and it has kept my "unoriginal" carrier file so tethering and MMS is still working perfectly for me! Haven't noticed any differences yet...

Are you on AT&T? What messaging plan do you have? I switched to regular unlimited a while back and it's still not working for me

Yes I'm on AT&T but I have a dealer plan which uses the non-iPhone data and messaging features. I still had to have AT&T provision my account for the MMS but because of my plan it doesn't get turned off when they do their sweeps.

That was fast! So soon after the 3.0 release, but I guess there were new features and bugfixes that were needed. Anything that makes the iPhone better is welcome!

Well if its really in the software then i expect them to turn it on pretty soon...

im guessing you're talking about at&t and mms. if so, then what we, rogers, got was a carrier update file via itunes, took 10 seconds to update and that got us mms and tethering, so im guessing that's what at&t will provide

Hope this fixes that problem with not being able to download Apps or songs without syncing to a comp first. So dang annoying.

The only thing that seems to be buggy is the Music/Videos apps, a la 3.0 beta 1. Music/Video apps crash over and over. A restart did not fix it. Trying a resync of my music. Anyone else with this problem? (I have about 1000 songs, and 34 music videos).

Everything else seems to be fine.

Please tell me this fixes the HORRIBLE GPS problem a lot of us have been having. I use GPS all the time and not being able to get it to lock on at all is really frustrating.

BTW, I'm surprised no one has mentioned this as it is in the API differences listed on the 3.1 download page, it appears 3.1 will allow developers to take advantage of the video camera in the 3GS. I don't think this was in 3.0, but I can't be certain as I have no need for the video camera API at this moment.

I thought I read somewhere on here a few days ago that Apple was going straight to 3.1 and skipping 3.0.1. Some member had posted it and he got flamed hard for it.

I wonder if he'll come back to gloat?

One thing i have noticed is that when you hold down an app, and it starts the wiggle the phone vibrates... This is new... :)

Edit for a few more things i have found, the ringtones sound much better at full volume then they did, and my ipod application won't open anymore, even after a restart.

how many beta's do you think there will be? im guessing not nearly as many as 3.0 since its only a minor upgrade.

That makes sense, in the 3.0 SDK, Apple didn't want people to know there was going to be video recording.
