iPhone 3Gs - Italy and Belgium - unlocked?

I ordered an iPhone from the Australian online store on the 10th (I have a mate in Oz who's going to mail it) using a non-Australian debit card, it seemed to have worked as my account was charged but no details given with my online banking. Obviously I thought I had got round their 'Australian credit card only' policy and the billing address being accepted (Australia is hard-coded and you have to put in a valid state). Yet today the money was back in my account, but no email from Apple saying anything! Thinking that my order was cancelled I emailed Apple to see if the order was still good. They responded saying that the order is still in process and will charge when my order ships. Makes me wonder why they charged my account before (I thought it was normal). Maybe it was a mistake and they corrected it.
 
More bad news.

i just called handtec, and the big order will not arrive until next week. they are get a small order today, but they will be shipped on first come first serve bases.

Same old, same old.

That is definitely not good news specially after they promised me mine would ship today or tomorrow guaranteed or they would give me a £30 refund for the hassle.

I think I will email Mark and see if I get the same response.

Will keep you guys posted.

i will still hang on for them, i don't see i have much choice for an unlocked iphone in the UK.

This is an urban legend. Software-unlocked iPhone work as well as official ones.

However like you mentioned, the factory-unlocked iPhone (i have one) is the best of both worlds. You can update as you want, use any SIM you want and even jailbreak quite fast if you want to (you don't need to wait for unlocking tools).

My order and also Pychoduck's have shipped and will be with us tomorrow by city link.

I think pretty much if they say it will be shipped tomorrow then you will be fine.
