your only going to hear bad things about CPW on here. You will never hear of the the people that had great customer service as there will be no need to be on here.

Another words try them out, they may surprise you!

I had a great CPW experience today, the assistant was really friendly and went out of his way to go through some obstacles put in his way by the CPW/O2 systems to get me my 32G iPhone 3GS booked for pick up at store on Friday morning. He did say that they had been busy and he expects lines outside the shop on Friday!

Amazing what you can find

It appears that o2 have slightly changed there pricing policy unless I misunderstood this. It seems that some iphone 3g customers will be entitled to an early upgrade free of charge. please see details below which were found on the o2 website.

http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/paymonth.html

For me and my wife this is great. We are entitled to an upgrade on on line now so there is 1 3gs. I spend in excess of £80.00 a month regularly on each account we have so it appears we are entitled to a second upgrade free of charge on our particular tariffs. Awesome!!!!

Unfortunately CPW have never been great on customer service. Apple on the other hand are awesome.
I bought my 13" Macbook 6 weeks ago using student discount.
I missed out on the free ipod touch offer for students and was also a little pi...d when they released an updated version of my mac. I called the store on Tuesday and they offered to replace it with the new version and give me the free ipod touch..
No other UK retailer would have done that. Thanks Apple I am now a true convert.:):)

FFS £540 for the new one

still going to get it though, i hope, if they have it in stock.....

who thinks the queue's will b as big as the 3g???

gonna try on my break if there no too bad

i really cant see the fascination with buying it or owning it on the DAY it is released. Why cant people just chill and get it in their own time.
Let the dust settle.

To be fair though, considering that you're effectively buying a sim-free phone (although it's not sim-free of course) the PAYG price seems about right.

Remener that they can't guarantee that once you've bought the phone they will ever make any further money from it because you may never activate the sim or simply put in your contract sim. They therefore have to charge you pretty much what the phone costs.

Having a look around expansys you'll find that pretty much every smartphone is around the £450 - £500 mark. The Blackberry Storm is £504 I believe and the Bold is £484.

Completely agree, I remember paying £460 at CPW for a sim-free nokia 7650 when it first came out and that was years ago!

The magic of Apple technology, the lure of a new launch, and the infectious hysteria of the whole thing have obviously escaped you then. Perhaps you're the lucky one. Perhaps not!

That's a fair point and they don't include 12 months unlimited web and wi-fi like the iPhone.

Nor are they.......

I told you I could justify the absurdly high price. :D

Thanks to the wonderful Carphonewarehouse Trade-in Scheme, along with envirofone etc, i plan on getting a 32GB iPhone for about £140

Hopefully i will get
£200 iPhone 3G - envirofone
£100 N95 - envirofone
£100 iPod Touch - CPW trade in

Dont really need a 16GB iPod touch if i get a 32GB iPhone, and only really kept the N95 for the camera/video camera which is on the iPhone as well. Will have to wait and see if the quality of the 3GS is any good + if i can transfer my iPhone insurance to the 3GS. Fingers crossed!!

Quick question, on the PAYG text tariff where you get 300 free texts if you top up £10, is there a way to check how many free texts you have left?

Also, when you first top up on this tariff will O2 text you telling you you have xxx messages free?
(I know they get wiped off after a month and you have to top up again before the same time each month, but I think O2 word it like that to keep you topping up. The way I see it is, whenever you top up £10, and you get 300 free texts which you have to use within 1 month of topping up).

You don't get them everytime you top up. You can only get them once per month. So if you top up £10 and get the 300 free texts and then top up £10 again the following week that activates the next lot of texts but they won't be given to you until the following month even if you have used up all the texts from your last top up.

Send a blank text to 20202 and you'll get a text back with remaining balances

Has anybody try to use the o2 online upgrade service? You enter your mobile number and they send you a text with an upgrade code that you enter on the site.

Did this last night with my son's phone and after entering his code online was told that he cannot upgrade until the end of this month, which is correct according to his contract.

Did the same for my iphone contract, got the code via text, entered it on the site and it allowed me to upgrade!! didn't go through with it as iPhone not yet on there but many other phones were. By the way my contract isn't for renewal until Jan..

I will use the code they sent me on Friday when the 3GS is available on Friday to order, hopefully!!

So who got their appointment personal shopping for the iPhone on friday? Was surprised Apple kept quiet about this till the email they sent out.Thought they wouldn't be doing them initially, as the appointment services wasn't showing anything for friday onwards, but they are now...

been looking on the o2 site for this, where is it??

I just tried and it said I was not eligible to upgrade until the last month of my contract. How much do you pay per month? If you pay over £80 p/m (I think) then you can upgrade early without penalty I think.

I'm on £45pm and normally spend very little extra..
