Yeah, exactly thats what they are saying.. BUT: Does it only count if I sent a text FROM abroad TO the UK or also FROM the UK TO abroad?
I'm not sure about that, I've only got the standard plan allowance. I would check with O2 before putting it to the test.

Try sending one and see if you get charged for it?

We are still getting ripped off even though the EU has bought in new measures to stop mobile phone companies ripping us off.
4 text mesaages from your inclusive allowance is equal to 40 p per text message, you are much better getting a PAYG sim for abroad and paying the revised EU rate of 0.9p per text.
The maximum 02 are allowed to charge for texting anywhere in the euro zone is 0.11 euro plus VAT
There is nothing you can do apart from complain that it's unfair practice to charge 4 times the amount to send a text from your allowance.
Texting abroad from the UK has always been up till now a standard charge or 1 text from your allowance, I would not be surprised if o2 has sneaked in through the backdoor 4 texts for texting abroad now.
This may be really obvious, but with the iPhone 3GS on O2 Pay as you go does the 12 months free Web and Wifi include browsing anywhere there is phone signal using 3G? Its just most of the time I'm not in range of a wifi network so that wouldn't be much use to me. On the O2 website it says "Data usage whilst roaming not included" and I'm unsure what this means?
As long as you are on the O2 UK network you are fine. Roaming is when you are on another network (normally abroad). Note O2 networks in other countries are still roaming...
You can pick unlimited data bolt-on on simplicity tariff which will work on a PAYG iPhone

He is thinking about getting a 3G model, and going down this route I just wanted to clarify a few things first as I might even sell him mine and then upgrade to the 3GS
Seems too good to be true that espically with 600mins and 1200texts! Plus its on a rolling contract! Will offer him mine, looking on ebay the prices for the 3G seem to have gone up, strange thought they would have come down quite abit.
You have to remember that they aren't giving you a subsidized phone. Its an amazing deal, one that i will continue to use for the foreseeable future
Hello. I have been trying to access Cloud and Openzone hotspots in various locations but haven't been able to access it - each time I try to logon for the first time
I've had the phone since the end of June but not yet been able to logon successful onto a hotspot. I've tried the number that came with the iPhone SIM and my current number I ported from Orange and no joy. I've tried getting an answer from O2 but they haven't been able to solve the problem yet.
Any idea what might be happening?

Does anyone know the stock situation for a black 32gb 3GS pay as you go?
I am down in london for the day and was hoping to pop into an Apple store and pick one up....
Also it appears if I simply buy a £10 top up then I get unlimited data for 12 months, is that correct, or do I need to re-top up every x months?
