Have we seen any tracking originating from the states yet? Kind of unusual they all seem to be coming from China, usually a few hubs have a ton of stock as well pre placed.

Apple released the iOS 10 GM on September 8... so your idea wouldn't have worked. They have to install the software, test, package, ship. And given they first started shipping on September 10 and 11, the logistics weren't there for time to drop ship lots to the US warehouses. In the past there has been 2-3 week windows between announcement and delivery, so they've been able to do that.

I've done it on Michigan Ave. in the past. I didn't have a reservation . . . in my experience if you are there early in the morning (7:00 – 7:30 AM at the latest no need to camp out) and can be away from work and stand there you will more than likely get a phone. Usually after that initial morning wave they sell out or only have reservations left. Same was true of ATT (flagship store also on Michigan Ave.). Also they have usually been very transparent about letting people know if the number of those in line exceeds their supply that morning.

I say if you have the time and don't mind waiting go for it!
thanks for the info! I definitely have the time so I might as well. Glad to know they're good about letting the people in line know. I hope the Lincoln Park store is the same way

I keep hearing that Tim Cook is a 'master of the supply chain.' Really? How come we've had nothing but problems for the last 2-3 launches?
Yes he's a master of the supply chain, the smaller the offer the better it looks. It seems like people are ordering like crazy when in fact the availability is limited. Simple marketing tool. Thats why they are not releasing sales number this weekend .

Has anyone got to the "Shipped" stage? Or got a tracking number officially(not by entering the order # without the last two digits or phone number on UPS)?
Nope, still says preparing for shipment. But I've tracked using the ways you mentioned.

Checked my email and my order was placed at 12:24am (3:24am est) and I have an estimated delivery of 10/4-10/10.

128gb black 6 plus. Order is w51.

I find that kind of odd that my order is still processing when I ordered quite early. Haven't been charged or anything. Really hoping it updates soon :/

I don't get comments like these. It's basic logic. Whether you ordered a minute after launch, or a day, YOU have an estimated delivery of October 4-10.

Those who ordered for September 16 delivery were charged 5-7 days before shipping.

So logic will say those who are getting theirs in the September 27-29 batch will see it go from Processing to Preparing (along with the charge) on or around September 22-24.

Which then means your batch will likely see it go from Processing to Preparing (along with the charge) on or around October 1-6.

It's not odd. It's likely not going to come sooner. It's not unusual. October is nearly 3 weeks from now, and will come before you should even expect to see ANYTHING happen on Apple.com with your order.. So cool down and wait.

9/27-9/29 here too. Thinking if we don't see any activity today, it may be better to try the store this weekend. My question is, when do you cancel the order? The second you have the phone in your hand? My luck, they'll process my pre-order while the cancellation is processing.
Be aware that there is already people camping around the stores.

Yes! This! Mine couldn't care less if she got it Friday or next month. I'm over here checking everywhere every few minutes, desperate for a glimmer of hope. It sure seems like they aren't bumping any orders up.

Hahahaha same exact boat! My wife wanted matte I got up at 3am and ordered it, hers comes Friday. Mine I ordered right after jet black doesn't come til oct 18!

I think there are going to be a lot of "black" models which will end up looking like "jet black" after they're all greasy from using them for a week. Yuck! I'm a clean freak and I have a silver and a space gray 6s+ and the screen gets so nasty dusty\greasy\grimy.

Once we hear someone officially gets a shipped verification from Apple let the fun begin. Waiting for my text robot alert.

since I got a 10/4-10/10 range I'm considering trying the store on release day. Anyone ever done it at the Apple Store in Lincoln Park in Chicago? Is it even worth it to try? What should I expect?

You should keep your current order and check the Apple Store app every night starting on the 16th after 9pm, to see if any local stores have the one you want. If they do, cancel the mail order and then buy the new one as a store pickup.

Depends on the location. My local Apple Store is in a mall. There will be no lines allowed before 5AM on Friday. No camping allowed on mall property either.

Almost every mall has SOMEWHERE that people gather before launch. Here there are 27 Apple Stores within 40 miles. Several are in malls. Some malls they have stansions outside to queue up. One mall which sounds similar to yours they don't allow mall property queueing before hours, so apple makes a line out of stansions outside on the sidewalk off property then escorts people to the store in small groups when it opens. Every store has some plan, you likely just don't know about yours. Otherwise it would be a black Friday smash and grab mob at opening, and they just don't do that. Doesn't play well to the cameras.

Guys if a problem arises with payment I'm still processing. Does apple auto cancel payment and I lose my spot? I'm concerned about that.. first time ordering with this card

Not on the apple site, but UPS shows the info from My Choice, I know exactly who shipped it, I didn't have to enter anything to get it to work. Also the charges on my credit card correspond to the movement. The next bit of clue was the support profile shows my new device and it's serial number.

I'm actually pretty patient. I have been a long time lurker of this forum and know how releases work. I just found that it was a little odd that some people had later order batches than me but their order got pushed up. I can definitely wait. After all the running around and trying to preorder the 6 plus in 2014, I'm glad I even got an order through that wasn't a near November delivery date haha

If you don't mind.

Sorry for the delay.

The 9pm thing hasn't been the way it's been done ever since Apple updated their systems in 2014... now inventory is updated real-time. So it could update 1 time per day, or it could update 15 times per day. It doesn't update until the store inventory clerk actually accepts them into the system. Because they could have a shipment due to arrive and it delays, and they don't want to under-deliver... so now as shipments come in, they're checked in and the website shows availability. Last launch I checked back every hour on the hour and various models would pop up at the local stores and I kept checking and eventually mid-afternoon the one I wanted popped up.
