I am sure this information is in here some where but can someone explain to me the significance of the order numbers. Mine starts with W49 I got a 32 black plus with an oct 4-10th delivery. Does anybody have any experience with their phones arriving earlier than predicted delivery? Thanks
No significance. Don't read anything into order number.

Phones from Apple typically arrive date promised or sooner. They are conservative on providing shipping dates.

They should have a check box for expedited delivery on order page and have it pre checked. Suspect very few are asking for delayed delivery. Unless they won't be home.

Currently sitting and waiting for "the next available Specialist" on the live chat. Fingers crossed!

Your order is "preparing for shipment" because it's shipping from China. If it gets to the states early the shipping company will hold it until release day as instructed by Apple. The only way to get it earlier is if the shipping company makes a mistake and ships it to you before that. This rarely happens though, in fact I don't recall it ever happening in recent releases.
[doublepost=1473515892][/doublepost]Just tried to expedite my shipment by chatting with an Apple specialist. Even using the "friend" trick didn't help. In fact she told me that the other agent who expedited my "friend's" order worked against procedure and that the order might get to her later than the initial estimate. Probably a load of bull... Now trying via phone. Been holding for 20 minutes :(

iPhone 7 Plus jet black 128GB
Oh I know how the process works, I've always gotten my pre-order on launch day and not a day sooner. Just hoping for the best since my order has a 9/16 delivery date.

It seems the Black iPhone 7 Plus 256GB configuration was the most sought after aside from Jet Black knowing there would be limited quantities...

Did anyone get a Day 1 delivery confirmation for a 256 Plus in black here? I'm sure someone did, but from browsing some of the pages it seems everyone has dates near the tail end of the month.

I got a ATT Black 256 Plus, Sep 16 delivery, preparing to ship

Well. Just got off the phone with Apple after holding for about 40 minutes. The phone rep was able to expedite my shipment! I had an initial estimate of Oct. 4th - 10th for my 7 Plus jet black 128GB (TMO). Now I'm in the Sep 27th - Oct 1st camp :) She also said that she put Next day shipping which is the fastest available so I'm mostly likely to get it on Sep 27th. I attached a screenshot of the updated order status.

Good job man, sounds like you had the same helpful phone rep that I got. And 40min wait time not as long as yesterday lol.

Mine's been in preparing for shipment since yesterday afternoon. Still not seeing a charge for the first month's payment from Citizens. Should I be concerned/give Chase a call?

So did Citizens run a hard pull on credit for those who were already on the AUP and getting a new phone? Curious if they do it every year or just one and done.

Yeah at first she was like "you know a lot of people had problems ordering and it's on first come first served basis so there's nothing we can do." Then I told her that they did it for a "friend" of mine and she was like "well let's see what we can do about expediting the shipment for you." :)

Quick question, once we are preparing for shipment, can we search UPS by reference to find our package?
You can once the order actually ships. Mine is preparing for shipment and nothing shows up when I track by reference. UPS My Choice will let you know the minute it's on it's way.

I have not been able to so far. I am guessing once it switches to "Shipped" (or thereabouts), it may work, so the trick is mostly effective in that time between when the item has actually shipped and when the tracking number gets displayed.

This is my first time pre-ordering from Apple. What do you tell them when you call to get your order expedited and do you have to pay extra for it?

Ask nicely. If they say there's nothing to be done tell them that they just did it for a friend of yours. Worked for me.

From mu previous experiences, the preorders actually ship expedited, even if it says standard. That's the reason why they arrive a week earlier than the expected delivery date.

Calling CS to change the shipping method will reflect the real date, but in reality won't change the date that you'll receive your iPhone.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it works
