So they announced it ahead of time, after they realize that preorder demand far outweighed their expectation during the week. Yet people still waited in line...

like nat said wasn't communicated very well. released late at night not on any major news outlet so they can say they told people "something." in my opinion an attempted pr move that didn't go well.

Just like yesterday and the day before and the day before that

lol. yup....

Idk what's been going on in the other forums and I know this is the tmobile forum. But my girl has sprint and she just got her shipping email from sprint. She ordered the matte black plus 128gb. Idk if they have been having the same shipping woes as us but Hopefully it's indication that matte blacks are about to start rolling out through carriers.

If it wasn't for the T-mobile trade in deal I probably would have ordered from Apple again like the 6+, it was pretty fun getting to track the phone from China lol. ZhenZhou anyone?

my friend EST date for the 7 plus is 10-15. some how they manage to ship and delivered on the release date. any one here already send in the trade in phone

My wife and I initially didn't want to get the iPhone 7, but with T-Mobile's current deals going on, we had to jump on the opportunity and upgrade. We preordered at the store extremely late (september 13th) and assumed we wouldn't get our phones until late September for the wife (rose gold iPhone 7) and early October for me (silver iPhone 7+).

I just got my tracking number for the wife's phone so she should be getting hers within the next two days. Here's hoping the rest of the order fulfills earlier!

Maybe, but it was mentioned here and number of other tech sites on Wednesday, 1.5 days before. Once they realized the demand was overwhelming for those models, and more than expected, considering its the first time EVER that the Plus model has outsold the regular model.

how to return the trade in phone ? in store or have to be mail in. i was told ok to drop off at store then they told i must do it in the mail ? mix of answer from difference rep. can anyone advise ?

Nobody was able to purchase any iphone 7 plus models and they didn't have any Jet Black models either.
That's announcing and releasing products that they didn't have in stock to sell. They lied and failed their customers and Friday morning they told them to go home, they will not be having any iphone 7 plus to sell.
Unless you go in and settle for a regular 32GB Rose Gold iphone 7.
But why do I bother, you just dont want to get it.
Ok you're right, all this is normal. Apple is the best thing in the world and we're all just bad entitled people that shouldn't complain but keep on loving Apple:D lol

They *did* ship Jet Black and Plus phones to customers on Friday. But since they missed you, I guess the whole launch was a failure.

I was told by the rep I setup the preorder and trade with that you can do it either way. But if you do it in store, you can request that the lump sum portion of the credit they give you can be applied to either your bill, or directly to the EIP (which is what I want to happen). But if you send it in, it will automatically be applied to the bill, and you'd need to make a payment for the same amount to the EIP manually. So, I was intending to take it in to the store when it's time.

You said there were none. No one got one. True or false?

"Apple said on Thursday that no models of the iPhone 7 Plus would be available for walk-in purchase. Additionally, the iPhone 7 in the shiny "jet black" color is sold out as well.

Apple says if you want one of the sold out models you can order it online."

They didn't just miss me, they missed millions of others and also all retail apple store locations had zero stock but besides that the launch was a total success :D lol

Had another discussion with executive level at T-Mobile and they stated there are just no black iPhone 7+ In stock. They said Apple keeps shipping everything except MB and Jet black, they said they are trying to work with Apple on Apple providing the orders that T-Mobile ordered. They said that my MB 7+ is one of the first orders for the 9/27 - 10/10 group but unfortunately they think those shipping dates are accurate and they highly doubt that I will receive my phone any earlier. At this point they are saying it will ship 9/27 and I should have the following day. I am hoping it still comes in quicker but I am not holding my breath. :(
people have reported that they received their MB 7+ though

Well the whole ordeal is over now, my 7+ 32GB Black finally was delivered today.

Ordered on the 9th at 0002 PST with an original arrival date of the 16th before T-Mobile pushed it back to 9/19-9/26. They finally shipped it on Friday 9/16 and got it today.

But, I had to work today so it sat at my front door in CA's 98 degree sun for two hours before I was able to race home on lunch to grab it.

Applejuiced - Ok. Listen. I don't think either one of us is going to convince the other to change their opinion. While I enjoy a healthy debate as much as anyone, I don't want us to take this debate too seriously. I get it. You feel they messed it up. I can see how you could feel that way. But do I think they did they best they could given the surprise they had on their hands and having never seen the Plus model outsell the regular size model over the previous two launches. Even large companies like Apple get thrown a curveball sometimes and have to react in unexpected ways. I don't think they did everything 100% right, but I also don't feel they botched it.

I think we can agree to disagree. Cool? :)

Yes, they shipped very few and still shipping with a 1-2 month wait. Fantastic:D
This is the only year that Apple didn't have its most popular iphone models available for retail sale at all. Typical other years 57% of their sales came from retails sales while they also filled preorders.
This year instead of improving stock it became way worse.

Would be nice if they come out with a public statement and just say this and that happened this time and we're a little bit behind because of that reason. We apologize to all our customers for waiting in line and not be able to deliver what we promised them etc....
Something along those lines would be good and would be a PR booster IMO.

Did they build factories on sacred native burial grounds? Did they offend the LGBT community with their Terms of Service? Did they shoot a gorilla?

No, a product that they are still going to deliver is taking some time due to the massive amount of preorders and probably some supplier issues. This happens on a daily basis in manufacturing. T-Mobile alone had 4 times more preorders than any other iPhone release before this one. If John Legere walked up to Tim Cook and told him "we are going to need twice as many phones as our last preorder" he probably would have been laughed out of the room. Who could have predicted 4x as many? There is no algorithm or forecasting for that.

They do not have to apologize to anyone for still getting you their product. Slowly albeit, but still beating predicted shipping times in most cases. Nobody is entitled to an apology from them nor do they have to give one. They are still going to sell 100 million iPhones by the end of 2016 and consumers will be more than pleased. Can you even fathom the production and logistics that have to go into that?

Look at this thread. Over 400 pages of people just talking about their preorders. Their customers are not going anywhere because the have a superior product (see Galaxy S7 recall). The only PR move they would need to make is if an issue as big as Samsung's pops up. Their customers will forgive, their stockholders will forgive, and that profit margin number at the end of the fiscal year is all they have to worry about. Which I am guessing is going to be record breaking.
