Such a short sighted comment based on your own needs. My photo library is 130gb and counting - I still have to add all my old videos taken with camcorders. And no I'm not a proff photographer.

If you have kids/family, take a lot of photos and videos, and have also imported old photos/videos from cameras, camcorders, old phones etc, you could quite easily have a photo library thats 100-150gb+ so your forced to use the optimise option which means having to wait for every photo/video to load. You also can't view your media if you don't have a internet connection. I'd love to store my entire photo library natively, so everything loads instantly.

This is not even taking into account around 20gbs of music, a 6.6gb tomtom app, and multiple tv shows and films purchased on iTunes which I can't currently download even on a 128gb device.

Put simply, a 256gb version would mean all of the above is possible. I appreciate not many people will need it, but to suggest it's ridiculous just because you can't see any need for it is itself ridiculous.

I agree! I use my iPhone 128gb 6S+ for work and take many, many photos required for my business. In addition to family photos, videos and such, a 256gb would be perfect!

Exactly, and hopefully they will release one. Normally the storage options of iPads and iPhones mirror each other. Ie when they released 128 on iPhones, the following Ipad release also had it.
[doublepost=1459724505][/doublepost]And anyone complaining about the price - a 128gb plus is already close to £800. An extra £100 for double the storage really doesn't make a huge difference. You have a choice if you don't want to pay that much.

That's what most people here don't understand. WE have the choice to buy what we want. Why be mad at options?

I wonder since the SE leapfrogged the 6 in terms of SoC, if Apple would just replace both the 6 and 6s with a 7 and 7 pro. So we will have iPhone 7 and 7 plus, replacing the current 6, and a 7 plus pro as the top end, with all the fancy dual camera and 256GB storage option.

There is rumoured to be a 3rd option, I.e an iPhone Pro obviously it's not 100% confirmed and could just simply be a prototype of the iPhone 7 Plus, but it would make sense with the dual camera and a 256GB storage option which seems more likely for the iPhone now that they have done it for the iPad Pro.

The iPhone Pro rumour started from the most reliable Apple analyst Ming Chi-Chow.

I believe the 256 is happening. Idk bout 21 mp. If it is great I hope the sensor is much improved though. The 2-3x optical zoom is pretty nice though.

I was trying to be comical: 12 reversed is 21 ;);) Apple has to do something innovative with their camera, and dual lens 21 MP could be it. Samsung phones, for example, have the camera bump and that means not having to sacrifice camera quality for the Apple path of ‘thin before utility!’ If Apple doesn’t innovate with super dual lens camera, Samsung will easily and rapidly surpass iPhone in camera quality and megapixels, where Apple won’t be able to compete. 21 megapixel dual lens seems realistic.

They could just fix the iCloud Photo Library optimisation option. Instead of storing an ultra low res photo, they could just limit the resolution to be the resolution of the phone, so it won't affect the viewing on the phone.

21MP cameras are just ridiculous. The change from 8 to 12 was minimal in terms of detail, only really makes a difference when zooming in. 12 to 21 will make no difference in detail. Mark my words. And in doing so they would massively affect light allowance per pixel. No thank you.

The iPhone 7/7 Pro (whatever they call it) doesn't look to be anything special from the outside but inside it'll be an absolute beast. With 3GB of RAM on the 5.5-inch, this thing will be a powerhouse.

It's inevitable that the Home button will eventually be going and Touch ID will be built-in to the screen (when they do this there's also a good chance they'll shrink the bezels too).

There's only so much you can do with a phone and the times we live in. You can't expect Apple to innovate every single year, it just won't happen.

Granted the outdoor daylight quality of 6s camera is as good as anything available but I tried the s7 and the difference in anything less then perfect conditions is embarrassing. The s7 lets in plenty of light and focuses instantly, whilst literally 2-3 seconds later my 6s+ was still focusing. Not to mention pic was very grainy and dark. Samsung have proved you can do this with a 12mp cam.

Re photo stream, it would be an ideal solution to just have lower quality full versions of the photos. But I guess the reason they didn't do this is even with lower res versions, a large library would still take a lot of space. For example my 130gb library takes about 10-12gb, if every picture was a full version at a lower res it would probably still take 30gb at least.

And to be fair, it's not really even needed as the current design is nice enough, if they just reduce the bezels whilst improving everything else like screen camera etc then what more does anyone want? Do we really need to have a completely redesigned phone every year?

I personally think the design of the iPhone 6/6s is nice. The antenna bands that run across the back are going and only the ones on the top and bottom of the phone will remain. Getting rid of the headphone jack might well annoy a lot of people but hey, it's 2016, the 3.5mm headphone jack is more than 50 years old I think, either buy some Bluetooth headphones or use the Lightning headphones Apple will ship with the iPhone 7.

Unfortunately people will always want more, you can never please everyone. Whatever Apple do with the iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and so on, there will always be people that complain.

The people it will annoy will be the same ones that will say 'hey we want loads of innovation and new features' then moan when it's delivered because they are not prepared to fork out a measly £10 for a cable or adapted.

Remember how many people complained about the Lightning connector? Never mind the fact it was 10x better due to not making an almost inch size whole in your phone, being MUCH easier to insert the charger, but oh no were moaning cos we'd have to buy 1 or 2 new cables!

Getting rid of the headphone jack will mean more space in the phone for other stuff or to reduce size of bezel, and WAY better sound quality as well as looking much neater.

Yes, someone who gets it! Exactly, when Apple introduced the Lightning Connector everyone lost their s**t. Now, everyone loves it. It'll be the same with the headphone jack, at first people will hate it but in time they will learn to love it.

As you say, the headphone jack takes up a lot of space and removing this will allow for the iPhone 7 to have stereo speakers.

I don't follow your thoughts that the headphone jack is what's holding back Apple from doing this. Many Android phones have had stereo speakers, larger batteries, much smaller bezels, and still have a headphone jack.

Exactly. Samsung have a 12MP camera with bigger pixels. If it were a 21MP camera it would just throw the low light capabilities out the window. Can you imagine the impact on the iPhone would be? Even if they increased the sensor size and the aperture width, it still wouldn't come near to matching the S7's light allowance. If they left it at 12MP, it would be much easier.

It would still negate the need for a 256GB option. That's what you were saying wasn't it? You would not only be able to fit your photos onto a 128GB phone, but you would be able to do so leaving 100GB free.

Let's just hope it's not the disaster that the G5 was with it's dual cameras. The quality of it's ultra-wide lens is pretty poor from what I've heard.

It's completely hypothetical though as the thing that takes up most space is videos and there's no way for Apple to convert them into lower res videos to store on the phone. That's why the system is like it is now - all or nothing. Assuming there is no way to do it, storing the entire library natively on the iPhone would require more then 128gb for a lot of people.

I know I just laugh when people thing jacking up the mp count on a camera will make picture quality better. There is a lot more to picture quality than just mp count and sometime more is not always best.

If Apple are indeed doing the dual lense camera on the iPhone 7, then you can bet that they have found a way to do it correctly, Apple are never usually first at doing anything, instead they take their time to perfect it.

It would be nice if it came to the smaller iPhones as well and not just the big one. But that probably won't happen til maybe the year after.

That won't happen, Apple will want to keep certain thing's for its flagship iPhone's.

There has been some different opinions on this, some say it will be this year while others say next year, but would it make more sense for the iPhone 7 to have a design change (i.e. the all glass design) this year and then the OLED screen added in next years (2017) model with it being an S version it would match what Apple usually do, number models get a design change while the S models get more features. http://www.abplive.in/gadgets/iphone-7-may-sport-an-all-glass-casing-325846
