16/64/256GB of storage for the iPhone 7. Not 100% confirmed, but if the iPhone 7 still starts at just 16GB of storage in a time when their sales growth finally stopped and their newest device is about to look the same as the previous two generations, then they must be out of their minds.

Not only this, but if they keep the 16GB of storage now, there is virtually no chance that they will increase it next year because the selling point will be the new design. So the way things look like now is 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM in 2016, same for 2017, and 32/4GB until 2018

I'd say 32 and 128, with a possible 256GB is more likely. They won't keep the starting option at 16GB due to all the **** that the got for it with the 6S.

I think a 256GB option will be great and would make sense, especially for people who take a lot of photos and 4K video.

The trouble is I can't see Apple getting rid of the 16GB option yet.

Based on the latest news article indicating Sony falling behind so Apple has to switch to LG... it makes it seem like even getting an iPhone with a minor design change is a struggle...

I think that's for the dual camera system because of the earthquake that affected Sony. From the leaks so far it seems as tho we are seeing more of what the Plus/Pro model will be getting:

Dual camera
256GB option
No headphone jack

It will be interesting to see what else will be in the new iPhone.

I want it 32gb to start with, because everyone else is doing that and other phones are now exceeding the iPhone in terms of both hardware and software, which is scary considering Apple was way ahead when the first iPhone released.

I can see why they would choose 16/64/256 - each jump is x4. Though I do hope they go with the 32/128/256 as the iPad Pros.

32/64/256 doesn't make sense as $100 for 32gbs then $100 for another... 192gb!? I just hope that they don't end up with four configs 32/64/128/256 by just tacking on another $100 for the 265!

IMO most likely are either 32/128/256 or 16/64/256.

I could definitely see the 256GB cost a lot more, think about the iPhone Plus/Pro version with a 256GB version I think could end up costing around £900!

That is worse, they should interduce iPhone 7 with atleast 64 gb (base model)

32 GB just to use a little Apple common sense, and 64 GB is a pipe dream. 256 GB for the Plus or Pro would be cost prohibitive for most. Not going to happen. 128 GB for the 7 Plus.

I think the 256GB version for the Pro/Plus model would make sense, especially considering the dual camera is rumoured to only be on the Pro/Plus version. I think Apple could market and aim the Plus/Pro version for photographers, i could be wrong but i do think it's looking that way. Obviously it will depend on the quality of the Dual camera features but i personally think it will be great.

Eurgh, the £780 for the 6S+ 128gb was an awful amount when I purchased it and I don't think I could see a 256gb £850/£900 iPhone doing too well!!!

The more leaks / rumors I see the more I am definitely waiting for the iPhone next year, and even then the Android phones coming out recently are really looking quite attractive to me too!

Yet another leak from the @Onleak guy according to the post this prototype has 4 speakers (like the iPad Pro) and the camera hole is larger. Also it looks to be in purple? It's probably a fake but it's possible that Apple are using some of the tech from the iPad Pro (4 speakers being one).

http://www.nowhereelse.fr/iphone-7-photos-prototype-italien-114025/

Yet more dubious tech that looks good on paper, but of questionable return for the consumer when all things considered.

Yep, 4 speakers will really make owning an iPhone "a magical experience ". It was on many top 5 wishes for the iPhone I'm sure...

Brooklyn, New York.
hate to say it, but the omission of the headphone jack is a dealbreaker for me for multiple reasons.
I own several pairs of headphones from my daily driver Urban Ears to my Shure and AKG studio cans.
I also am pretty much always carrying my DSLR. While this may seem unrelated, what it brings to bear is that I am unwilling to carry any additional gadgetry in order to adapt, power or charge a headphone solution.
Why fix what isn't broken?
This silly design choice is going to force me to buy a 6S now and milk it for as long as possible, instead of waiting until fall to get a 7.

Btw, I really don't care about all your Samsung phones. Why are you even commenting here? Do you go to Mustang forums to talk about your Camaro as well?

For THE memory configs:

iPhone 7 with single camera: 16,64 and 128gb for 649,749 and 849
iPhone 7 plus with dual camera: 32, 64 and 128 for 799, 949 and 1049.
iPhone 7 pro with an even more advanced higher megapixel dual camera: 64gb, 128gb and 256 gb for 899, 1049 and 1149

Don' t get fooled by the looks of the iPhone . We have only seen the back of the phone. Perhaps the screens will be 4.85 inch and 5.7 inch in the same footprint with a higher res. We still don' t know nothing. We have only seen a schematic on a Japanese website, which also posted the same kind of schematics of the iPad Pro with a 12.2 inch screen instead of a 12.9 inch it is now. For all we know, these could be prototypes for testing, etc.
And don't rule out 2 major rumors:

1. Force touch home button, together with 3D Touch tech this could present major changes in the way we use the home button on our iPhones . New functions, shortcuts, perhaps even notifications symbols shown on the homebutton itself. And mechanical failire rate will go down, will make it easier to waterproof, and even protect by a one piece screen protector instead of one with a cutout.
2. Smart connector-> don' t underestimate this. It will pave the way for more sophisticated accessories and possibilities: like camera cases with even better sensors, streamlined battery cases, wireless charging, perhaps even true wireless charging cases, vr glasses, a case which allows you to use a second SIM card without opening, the sim tray, etc.
And apple will release these accessories and charge a ton for them and we will buy them.

Don' t get fooled by the looks, I believe to sustain margins and adding much more sophisticated tech to the iPhone 7, Apple choose to keep roughly the same design, to keep cost down. Next year in April, they will release the so called anniversary edition, called the iPhone pro with an entirely new design, material and this newest tech, and perhaps even newer tech with more capabilities, oled screen, etc. For a higher price of course, to maintain margins.

It is all about margins and keeping costs down. This is apple's choice and the way wall streets works.
So release an iPhone for the masses, at the same price as the previous gen, release a bigger iPhone with a better camera, and bigger screen for people that want more, and to pay a little bit more(but it is a lot bigger, clumsy, etc), and release a top of the bill iPhone with a smaller footprint(but at least the same screen size) as the 7 plus) with a newer design, integrated homebutton in the screen, better hw , etc for even more.

In short: Apple wants us to buy the bigger and more expensive iPhones with higher margins, by offering a regular iPhone that is , to say the least , very basic.... And then use the price of the different memory configs to convince us to take the more expensive models.

If I am a regular customer, that needs more than a 16gb iPhone 7, but less than 64gb, I would be tempted to buy a a 32 gb iPhone 7 plus for just $50 more than a 64gb iPhone 7.

If I would want a 7 plus, but 32gb is too little, and 128gb is too much, I would buy a iPhone 7 pro with 64gb with a new design, better hw, more exclusive for $50 more than the iPhone 7 plus 128gb.

Since most people need configs of 32 to 64 gb this is very lucrative for Apple. So Apple won' t sell more, but their profits will remain the same. A shame really. A good product should be enough.....

The most interesting thing about it is that the antenna lines are in the same color as the anodized Alu.
Would love to have almost invisible antenna lines.

More battery life
AMOLED display
Reduced bezels (not edge-to-edge though) and losing the physical button
Keeping the headphone jack
Waterproofing (but keeping the sound level and vibrancy the same on the speaker unlike the Samsung S7)

That would be my five.

This is the first time I'm really not hyped about the iPhone.
I went from a 5 to 5s because of Touch ID.
I went from the 5S to the 6 because of the size.
This one has no interesting features yet.

AMOLED will not be there, and even if it would, Apple would use a strange resolution and scaling again.
Wireless Charging and Waterproofing sounds great, but its not really needed.
I connect my phone often. And you need the cradle of some kind anyways.

The antenna lines are not relevant, but the strange slippery casing is.
Somehow, starting with the IP6, I find it uncomfortable to hold without a case.

Larger battery will not happen, because "Apple". Even if 4k Video would drain your phone real fast.
CPU is not an issue and RAM is mostly a moot point because people just compare numbers.
(Safari will always reload because it tries to be a reference App for a good citizen.)

So ... I'm really interested ... what of the CURRENT leaks, not some fantasy feature, would make you buy the next iPhone?
I cannot imagine that I will, if my battery stays healthy enough.

Agree on:
Bigger screens. This is probably the way to go. They could probably even fit 5-inch and 5.8-inch screens onto the dimensions of the 6S and 6S Plus. Also the FT home button would be great. Looking at what they did with the FT trackpad, replicating the feel of a button, I would love if they did that for the iPhone, not just with the home button but with 3D Touch as a whole.

Disagree on:
Configurations and pricing. They wouldn't start at 16 or 64GB. 32GB will probably be the starting point for all the iPhones. Add to that a 128GB option, like they have on the iPad Pro. Don't think that the rumours of 256GB will be true just yet on the iPhone. Also don't think the rumours of three models are true either.
As for the smart connector, I really don't see the point. Those ideas that you put out sound great, but I really don't see the reason why they can't just use the Lightning connector for those things. Make a Lightning 2.0 if you have to.

I really hope that Apple does the right thing with this iPhone. But looking at the leaks, that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment. I would have really liked a redesign. But I guess we'll just have to wait until next year.
