I'm using the chimpcase. It's considered to be one of the thinest, lightest case on the market here in Germany.

It seems most of the ultra-slim cases (0.3mm etc) have a hard plastic surface. I'm looking for minimalism with GRIP. The grip is the main reason I'm getting a case, to PREVENT me from dropping the phone in the first place, or slide of the sofa, my knee, whatever.
I have settled on the Orzly FlexiSlim for now. It is more flexible than the other slim cases and has more grip. By comparison I tried the Tozo and it was too hard and slippery. My only complaint IDs I wish it came in a darker black. What they call black frost is more like gray frost.

I also have just received my Pitaka case.

Not a huge amount to add to anzhu's post above, except that previously I've had similar cases from MonCarbone in the past on both my iPhone 6 & 6S Plus. The Pitaka is very similar in shape, the weave is nicer on the Pitaka as you can actually feel it. The only aspect I'm undecided about is the rubber ring around the camera cut-out - it works very well to make sure the lens ins't scratched, however being a soft rubber it does the to drag when pulling it out of my pocket - so far I haven't lost the ring and there are spares in the box, but I expect it may well come off at some point. For comparison, MonCarbone put a thick sticker on the inside of the case to manipulate the case to be slightly thicker.

Taking into consideration the cost difference between the MonCarbone and Pitaka, I am very very happy with the Pitaka case.

I was worried about the rubber ring too but its been a week now and it has not come loose once. If anything it keeps the phone from sliding easily on a desk or car seat etc. I also want it to protect the camera as I read some conclusive scientific tests that the sapphire Apple uses is not great and can scratch easier then it should.

It is very similar to most of these very thin cases. I would say within .10mm of each other, which I think you couldn't tell apart in regard to that. I did consider the caudabe and the peel cases that they offer but considering this was less than $10 shipped I did not hesitate to order over the others.

Does the elago provide more grip? The only reason I wanna buy a thin case because the phone is quite slippery

I'd say a small amount but since it's a hard plastic, although thin, it's still not optimal for grip. If you want thin and some grip have you tried looking at skins?

Thanks for the review, I'm waiting for my Pitaka case to be delivered. Im especially looking forward to seeing how grippy it is. The matte black iPhone is ridiculously slippery, to the point where I'm now hesitant to even take it out of my pocket when I'm out and about.

Ive already had it randomly glide out of my hands once falling to the ground when shooting video, creating a couple of small but annoying marks on its back, but impressively enough zero scratches on the screen even though it bounced and landed face down on the pavement - thus reinforcing my opinion that screen protectors are completely unnecessary these days, not to mention ugly.

Came across this comparison video on YouTube today. The guy in the video compares a number of super slim cases and provides his impression of the overall feel and fit. The video is a long, however he does try out approximately 7 different cases.

Would you say the case provides good grip?

I just got a note from Caudabe. The Sheath will be available next week.

Ive received my Pitaka case in black/grey and here are my opinions:

Looks: Absolutely gorgeous and very professional looking, but a bit prone to finger prints. I wiped it down with a micro fiber cloth and some eye glasses spray and that cleaned it right up though. Case is sturdy, super light and should hold up well given its material.

Rubber ring: Its ok, its designed in such a way that the pressure from the phone keeps it in place however even after a few jean pocket removals the bottom part of the ring is slightly out of place. I might consider securing it properly with the tiniest amount of super glue if this becomes an issue. For future generations i would say use hard plastic instead and have it permanently secured to the case. The rubber also attracts dust and doesnt do the case justice. But it works fine and helps keeping the phone from slipping on a table/sofa witch leads me to...

Grip: If a naked matte black iPhone7 is a 1/10 and car tyre rubber is 10/10 this is a modest 5 in grippyness. Its surface could perhaps be described as paper, its not exactly "slippery" but its not "stick to the wall" grippy either. Its just ok however for casual use it will definitely keep me from dropping the phone.

Conclusion: Eye catching looks, best looking case out there no doubt. Rubber ring is a nice idea but can be better executed. Grip is acceptable for casual every day use but if you want 100% security for holding your phone in the air while jumping up and down at concerts - consider looking elsewhere.

Got the Pitaka case today.

Best minimalist case hands down. Love the feel and I believe it provides decent drop protection for a minimalist case. If you need a lot of protection look elsewhere.

I've had every iphone model upgrading every two years starting with the original and I've used cases on all of them except for the original. I still have managed to break a few screens but I'm just not willing to hide these beautiful devices behind too much bulk.

I had an Evutec on my iphone 6 (Evutec = Pitaka) which I gave to my wife so then I used a Spigen ThinFit on my iphone 6 and then the ThinFit again for the last the few weeks that I've had my iphone 7. Spigen's a great case and probably provides a bit more drop protection but the Pitaka is just gorgeous.

Happy to be back.

I had originally bought a Tozo case for my iPhone while I was waiting for these $4 cases from ebay to arrive and really liked the Tozo cases. I ended up switching over to the "Cafel" cases I got off ebay, as they were a slightly thicker and more grippy material. They don't offer much drop protection, and are mainly for scratch protection and some added grip, but that was all I was looking for in a case (I was debating between a slim case or a clear skin).

I'm stuck between the Orzly FlexiSlim and the Tozo case.

Orzly is slightly thicker, more flexible and a lighter shade of frost color. The Tozo is very thin and darker. My personal preference is the Orzly as I don't like them paper thin.

I'm waiting for the Cafel but won't get it for a few weeks. Look like it's dark like the Tozo but thicker and more flexible like the Orzly.

The Cafel is nice. Need a case asap but will probably order one later. I like the colors more with the Tozo. Since you said the Orzly is thicker I may do that. My only fear is I want something with lip in case I lay the phone on its front and on the back without the camera touching

Has any of these cases that have been mentioned so far caused any scratching to the jet black when removing? That's my greatest concern with these minimalist cases. Make are snap on.

Given that these cases probably have tiny bits of play and don't have microfiber padding on the inside, I wouldn't suggest it for your jet black iPhone. It will most likely have tiny shifts in the case that will cause micro-scratches.

Received my elago "origin" case today.

Bought the dark grey

https://www.amazon.com/elago-iPhone-case-Origin-Dark/dp/B01JORFPB8

Very impressed with the quality, does not feel as cheap and flimsy as other brands. Grip isn't bad, not great but I was hoping for a more grippy feel.

I had purchased the caudabe veil xt for my 6S and while it was decent it felt really cheap and it did crack rather easily. Also had purchased a cheap $3 case off eBay around the same time as the caudabe and to me they were the exact same thing.

I almost purchased the peel for $25 even though I know it wouldn't be worth it, thank god I entered this thread and saw the elago on amazon and some people calling the peel cheap and breaking while inserting the phone.

If you're torn between these minimalistic cases then I would say choose the origin from elago, I like it a lot but let's see if it's holds up to my constant dropping lol
