This is especially true if you use Apple Maps b/c it goes full screen and you don't see the battery status, plus it keeps moving along on the map even if you drop signal so a person truly might not even realize it. My guess is that it's happening to more people than it seems...

If you use CarPlay all the dots go blank and just shows a clock

Agreed. My guess is that a lot of people don't even realize that their phone is dropping to 3G/1x/No Service if they aren't staring at it while in the car.

Gonna test this. Was on 10.1 I restored to 10.0.2 and asked me to update carrier settings so I declined

Called apple today, awesome tech support rep from apple said that this is probably a back-end verizon problem. Put me in touch with the verizon representatives, who claimed responsibility for this on the network end and asked me to be patient.

With the questions about the android phones not having this, are any using the "advanced lte" on the verizon network? Whatever the new bands are? Or at this point, is the iPhone 7 the only phone that is taking advantage of the newer bands, thus the only phones having problems?

Finally getting a replacement 7+ from Apple tomorrow, had to wait for them to get supply. I doubt this will fix our actual issue but its worth a shot.

I haven't updated anything since the phone came out but over the past week my issues have declined, if not gone away. Haven't seen 3G/1x/no service in over a week. I wonder if it's something with Verizon's backhaul that they are updating on their end.

Interesting. I was able to recreate the issue on Saturday (2 days ago) while logging via the telephony profile Apple had me install. If Verizon is making updates, they haven't gotten to Colorado yet!!

It's weird that everyone is receiving such mixed reports. Someone else posted recently and was told by Apple just the other day that the Apple engineers already had all the log data they needed and were already working on a fix! Not sure what to believe anymore!

My experience is similar. I did the "fix" described several pages back (turn off and back on Advanced Calling, etc) about a week ago and my service improved with much less frequent drops although they did still happen. The phone went from barely usable when driving to usable but still not as reliable as my prior iphone 6.

Over the weekend while driving a lot, I did not notice any drops to 1X but alas this morning when I arrived at work and came up the elevator the phone dropped to 1X briefly. (something my iphone 6 never did in the same location). Except for the "fix" above I have done nothing on my end. Got the phone on launch day.

I also wonder if it is regional and related to LTE Advanced. I'm in San Francisco.

Well just to rain on the parade of

Driving home from work today I had two drop outs in a row. Loss of signal and GPS, airplane mode, thirty seconds later loss of signal and GPS again, then airplane mode and I'm back in business.

Mixed reviews indeed..

Didn't have an issue over the weekend or drove to work...

Anyone else seeing an improvement?

Scratch that. Had it happen 3x while driving around for lunch. All were in areas where LTE has been solid for the past 3+ years.

I'm returning 6S at Verizon stores that I picked up to hold me over until I could get a spare 6 I had in my office. Anyway while speaking to the Rep I explained that he reason I got the 6S temporarily is because the 7 was having the no service issues. They acknowledged this is now a known issue and pretty widespread. Hopefully this means a fix will be out soon. I ordered another 7plus and won't get it until November so I'm sure these issues will be resolved by then.

Just had a dropout at work. First one in a week. Went from 3 dots of LTE to just "Verizon" then 1x then immediately to 3G.

Just had a signal drop when trying to contact my wife about something. This is getting very old.

Still no issues 1 time it got down to 1 dot and I thought was gonna happen but it didn't and climbed back up to

I'm giving Verizon until Friday to fix this. If not, heading back to Att. I tested sim in phone and didn't have any issues.

What's interesting is that I read Verizon and Sprint iphone 7 phones are physically exactly the same model yet Sprint doesn't have the service issues. I think this is squarely on Verizon to resolve.

one thing I noticed that is strange. so for the past week, I've had no drop outs or 1x/3G issues. reception has been mediocre and all the spots on the highway where I reported last week where I had full reception, this past week I only had 2-4 dots....never full 5 dots of LTE. now today on the way to work, same thing as its been all week. now I had a drop out while at work. on the way home, full reception in all the right spots on my way home. its truly almost as if the drop out resets or recalibrates the reception of the antenna or modem. now, if it follows the same pattern, as the week goes on, my signal will again degrade and get crappy again.

I also noticed that my phone really doesn't have a true internet connection sometimes even though it says 2 dots of LTE or 3-4 dots of 3G. I was getting random barrages of messages in between "connections"

I called Verizon CS and talked to someone in the tech support department and when he typed the issue into the computer it says its a known issue and that Verizon & Apple are working fixing it.

I'm not sure what is taking Apple and Verizon so long to fix this issue.

If you have ever rocked an Android phone on VZW then you know what the issue with them is. And Apple, well, you all must be holding it wrong. In all seriousness I'm glad that some are being told that Apple and VZW are working on a fix, but I am shocked it has taken this long. It's not like it has the intel radio in it where it's new hardware so new code/etc. This is your std Qualcom radio.....would it be so hard to just push an older carrier "update", or an older one that was at least known to be stable?
