spoke with apple care today as a followup to this issue. the guy said he had no new news on the issue, other than the fact that its almost 99% sure to be software related and being worked on. he said that if it was hardware, apple would've begun asking for all these handsets back for engineering to rip apart.

when I asked about the public acknowledgment on the issue, he said we should all send that request as feedback to apples normal feedback channel. he stated that if this was affecting every device, like the Note 7 issues, apple would've obviously said something. even though this issue is "widespread" and well known now due to it only affecting a smaller number of devices (given the total out there) in the big picture, he said apple probably wouldn't issue a public statement about it.

still no ETA, but I was assured the engineers are plugging away and will get to the bottom of this

Thanks for the update. There is no doubt in my mind it will get fixed. I can hold off upgrading until this is fixed, but I feel for all of you having this issue. I have more faith in Apple fixing this problem than I would have with Samsung.

Funny thing is as the weeks go on, the frequency of having the issue has decreased. I wonder if they are working on something on their backend as well.

My experience too. Very infrequent now. Not even sure I would notice if I wasn't looking for it. Nothing has changed on my end and in using the general release non beta software

Sorry if it was posted about already, but as anyone tried the most recent beta release for iOS? I've heard promising things about Verizon carrier version 26. I'm about to try it personally.

Yes it's been discussed over the last few pages. It doesn't fix the issue but seems to make it better.

What's disturbing is that issue has been going on for 23 days now. If there was a quick fix, it would have occurred by now.

No kidding and I think the silence is a result of them, both apple and Verizon , not wanting the publicity or potential litigation. For what it is worth no service is a critical issue, considering people, like me , don't have a land line.

This is such a strange issue. My phone hadn't connected to Wi-Fi last night so I never got any notifications.

When I woke up, it reconnected to Wi-Fi and all the notifications came in since the data network wasn't working... even though it said it was connected.

I got that a few times at work when I was having issues. Phone said I had LTE connection but I would randomly get barraged with tons of notifications.

If it's more of an issue with tower software vs phone software, it may take longer to roll out the fix to each city.

If that's true then it should be my equipment region. Are these issues on just one set of backend software suites or what?
i.e. Samsung vs Sony/erricson

I started a thread about connectivity, poor in-call sound quality & the inability of my iPhone 7 to stay connected to WiFi on another (iMore) forum...and had two pages of thread comments in less than an hour! One of the posters in this thread shared a link to it...and I'm shocked to see 50-pages here!

That said...as of two days ago, my phone has suddenly healed itself. Everything suddenly connects & stays connected, as well as my 6s did. I don't know whether Verizon dropped a secret network patch or what...but suddenly I have no real issues. I hope this isn't a short reprieve...

What OS version are you on? I tried turning on VoLTE again the other day to see if there was any improvement but my signal still dropped. I'm not in the beta anymore though. I had to downgrade because I was getting horrible battery life.

I'm not running on beta, but I'm not experiencing this issue anymore. I got my 7plus on launch day and that whole week, I would lose service multiple times whenever I used gps. This weekend I drove to multiple places in North Jersey and didn't lose service once while using gps. This is the same area I was losing service in before.

If it is the network, and not the phone, then, as you said, a network patch may fix the issue, thus we would not need any FW patch on the phone. As they roll out the network patch, phones would start working correctly.

Turning off VoLTE seems to help tremendously with speed and drops. I particularly don't need HD calling or to surf while on a call but it would be nice to have. Hope this gets fixed soon.

I had another drop Friday night FWIW. So if VZW is patching their network towers, it still hasn't made all the rounds yet.

I agree with others though that the drops have become less and less frequent. However it's really frustrating to lose GPS while driving since I need it so I did disable Voice LTE this morning. Will wait for this to be fully fixed before I re-enable it.

I've never had gps drop. Wonder if that's an entirely different issue.

Got tired of drops. So I am back on my 5s. Holy smokes this is small. Anyhow, we all should be contacting Verizon for credits. Every week I expect a credit.
