I got mine reversed without citing any issues at all. I simply asked lol!

I tried asking nicely and the rep just flat out said no because all the other carriers were doing it.

+1 to ask nicely first. Use this issue if that doesn't work.

Need to chime in. I took a chance and decided to swap out my Jet Black 7 for Jet Black 7 Plus last night at the Apple Store. I knew I was risking the LTE issue and hissing. My unit is from week 41 (10/10-10/16). I can confirm that I have no LTE issues (iOS 10.0.2 & VZ Carrier 25.1) and no hissing. Phone is silent and works as it should. Either I got really lucky, or the problem was fixed behind closed doors. Looking very promising for others.

Mine hissed loud when it was restoring but hasn't done it since it just sounds like a typical computer when it did it

Is the beta version only available over the air ? or can it be download to the mac then installed?

The issues we're experiencing are all over Verizon forums. It has become a trending problem.

This is probably why carriers hate Apple. They can't push out a carrier update when they want to or need to. They have to send it to Apple, and Apple will then release it with their iOS update on their timetable. Unfortunately, Verizon is just one carrier on a global market for Apple. Apple won't lose sleep if one carrier has issues, and will release their update when the rest of the the updates for their iOS have been thoroughly tested. In other words, screw the carriers until Apple is ready.

Carrier updates can and do come out independent of iOS updates. There was a recent one to address some issues that T-Mobile users were having, for example: https://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/15/t-mobile-ios-10-update-warning/

I wonder if Apple or Verizon were having issues today. I just got home and bombarded with emails in missed from all day yesterday. I use iCloud email and it's set to push. Damn, anyone else on Verizon have an issue like this today?

Oh I am experiencing that also. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with Apple and how the iPhone 7 and iOS 10 release has been. I was tempted to bargain with my son and switch him for his 6s. But after all the issues he has seen me having, he won't do it.

I was able to purchase a iPhone 7 Plus JetBlack over the weekend, therefore I gave the iPhone 7 back to my wife. Sad to report, even my Plus is having the issue while on beta 3. So amongst the 4 iPhone 7s new or replacement have all had this issue.

After a week of no response from Apple support, I finally received the following message today.

It is a known issues that apple has had and the engineers are still working on a solution to the problem.

Based on the wording of that response it does not sound like any of the 10.1 betas solve the problem.

Which raises concerns whether or not Apple knows how to fix this.

I don't agree with that. 10.1 has not been released. Betas are test builds and 10.1 is therefore currently being TESTED. Testing a fix (i.e. beta) = "working on a solution".

10.1 Beta 3 seems to have largely (if not completely) fixed the issue for me and for many others. Maybe they are still tweaking the code and testing additional changes, but 10.1 Beta 3 seems like a big step in the right direction so far.

Is this the fix we've all been waiting for?

Anyone try it? What carrier version does it have? I'm stuck on beta :/

Check this out from Mark Gurman on twitter
iOS 10.0.3 software update is for the iPhone 7 only. Apple says it fixes issue with cellular connectivity dropping.

I spoke to a Verizon Rep this morning and she said that they have an article about the problem and that "there is a fix coming with the upcoming 10.0.3 update." So Verizon is telling their reps that this should fix it. I'm skeptical, but we'll see...

EDIT- Just installed the update. The Carrier version is still Verizon 25.1

I purchased (full retail) a Verizon 256GB 7 Plus on October 11 (five days ago.) Upgraded from a 6s Plus. Did the setup/restore, and activation in-store here in Alaska. This is a week 39 phone, and came with 10.0.1 out of the box.

It wasn’t until getting home, setting passwords for various apps, and final setup of the 7 Plus that there was an update. Didn’t think twice, and applied 10.0.2. I really hadn’t used the phone much prior to that and didn’t notice any signal drops or other issues.

I live about 850 feet from the tower. Signal strength is -60 to -65 dBm. I also have a new S7 edge on Verizon on a second line.

Sitting at my desk, with both phones in front of me, I started noticing, after a period, the iPhone dropped to “No Service”. The S7 suffered no loss of signal. I then started paying closer attention, and doing searches of the Internet when I discovered this thread (and, unfortunately, many like it.)

So, my experience is that sitting on a desk, no apps running or open in the background, and the 7 Plus drops the signal. At first it takes a while, but ultimately is every five or so minutes. A reboot does help, buy only temporarily.

I tried all the things mentioned here that seems to have worked for others, but all to no avail. The phone was running 10.0.2, Carrier 25.1, and Modem 1.00.04.

I decided to try the latest 10.1 Beta 3, as some reported success. Shortly after updating to 10.1 Beta 3, Carrier 26.0, and Modem 1.24.00, I suffered the same loss of signal.

I also notice that reception is not as good as the 6s Plus I replaced, which is disappointing. Not sure what I am going to do now, but thank goodness the S7 edge works fine.

If I were in my return period I'd return it and wait for the fix. Putting up with such an expensive device that doesn't even hold onto a signal 850 feet from a tower is total crap. Check the size of this thread and how long it's been going on. The comment of "I'm sure they will fix it soon" should be getting pretty old by now. Meantime a very expensive device is not functioning as it should. lucky you have a backup that works, a lot don't. So glad I stumbled onto this thread before my purchase. The most basic function is unreliable. Massive Fail!

Seems like the supposed fix has just been released today.

I just upgraded to 10.0.3 which is supposed to be the fix. I just checked after and my carrier is still 25.1??

Will see if this helped on my drive home later. Crossing fingers.

Here's to hoping. I dropped 3 calls yesterday at home. Never dropped a call there prior to the iPhone 7. :\
