I haven't had any more drops since updating but my LTE speeds still are not where they were on my iP6 - averaging around 5Mbps and infrequent highs of 10Mbps at home. I used to get an average of well over 10 and peaks of up to 20Mbps at my house :(
Maybe they slowed things down to stabilize the connection.

10.1 b5

Verizon 26.0
Modem Firmware 1.25.00

Time to test it out. So far, b4 was ok for me. Did several 1hr drives around NNJ/SNJ and only dropped twice but was able to reconnect faster than before.

Drop as in go to 3G or as in No Service?

anyone have any release notes on the beta 5?

"Fixes bugs including a placebo fix to the issue where some users could temporarily lose cellular connectivity". :)

Half the forum members will immediately post here stating that all of their connectivity issues have been fixed within 30 seconds of installing beta 5 where as the other half will say that beta 5 did nothing whatsoever to fix their issues.

I updated to 10.1 beta 4 the other day from beta 3. Had no problems with B3. After updating to B4, I had to go from Morris county, NNJ to the hamptons and back which took almost 5-5.5 hours. Happy to report that LTE stayed on the whole way. There were times it was down to one bar but never went into 3G/1x/no service. I guess I'm finally keeping this iPhone 7!

Ha.. I knew the phrase "placebo fix" sounded familiar. Glad I am not the only one.

Looks like the newest beta is only for the 7/7+. Wonder if it contains the same cellular fix that 10.0.3 does.

Fwiw I have had 2 drops to no service nice upgrading to iOS 10.1 beta 4. Will try beta 5.

As before, still nothing in beta 5 release notes about cellular issues.

Also probably worthless info. b5 is 1.95gb on my plus. Quick search seems that beta 4 was about 240mb, while 10.0.3 was about 120mb. Makes me think beta 4 was the cellular "fix" which didn't work.

I unfortunately experienced the same problems as everyone. The temporary fix of disabling VoLTE worked perfectly for preventing it from dropping to 3G or No Service. I installed 10.0.3 as soon as it was released, and since then I have actively monitored my signal and experienced no drops from LTE. On top of the signal reliability I have also now recorded my highest speed test ever over LTE (in a place I had 142Mbps on 9/28).

How's the dropping to no service or dropping to 1x then back to 3G? So far on 10.0.3 it seems to be more reliable. I ran a speed test this morning and got 30Mbps so I haven't noticed a speed issue.

Had my wife's iPhone 7 today, right by my 7 Plus. Her phone went to no service 3x in a row right after trying to pull up a website. It would then sit in 1x until I recycled airplane and would gonna knto LTE. Meanwhile my 7 Plus was solid 2 bars of LTE and able to pull up sites just fine. WTH apple. Fwiw were both on beta 5.

Can also confirm that 10.0.3 did not fix the problem. I don't get the "No Service" problem like before the update, but data use for email and internet is sluggish to outright stalling in locations where I have a signal at -90 or better.

I can confirm that this update does not fix the issue. Currently bouncing between LTE, No Service, and 3G. Still having to toggle airplane mode multiple times to actually get cellular service working in places where other iPhones work fine.

What a disaster.

*cough* HW issue *cough*

It has fixed the issue for me entirely. Have not seen no service since upgrading to 10.0.3. The few times it drops to 1X or 3G it is for good reason (poor signal) and it jumps back to LTE faster than my 6S ever did.

What's more impressive is in some rooms where I work I only ever got 3G on the 6S and 7 Plus prior to update. Now the 7 Plus latches onto LTE and holds it in those spots. Very happy!

did another road trip from North Jersey to Jersey shore area on parkway and never lost the signal. so far so good. on Beta 4. not going to upgrade to Beta 5.. feel bad for those still having problems.. hope everything straightens out!

I DFUd my wife's iPhone 7 and installed 10.0.3, bit I matter what I do I can't re-install the beta. What am I missing? Profile is loaded.

I went from Beta 4 to the official 10.0.3 and while I have not gotten any further service drops, the data rates (measured with the Speedtest app have been less than over whelming for "Verizon's Advanced LTE"! Live in south NJ (08831) and when I play with the phone by turning off Wifi, I average about 35-40Mbps download and 3-5Mbps upload.

I went from latest beta to 10.0.3 and somehow.. I didn't drop to 3G at all in the typical places. As stated in earlier forums, Verizon could be doing something on their end while apple released that fix.

Does anyone know why my phone is still telling me to upgrade to beta 4 even though I've downgraded to 10.0.3 and deleted the beta profile?

Any suggestions on how I can fix it?

May have triggered the update before the profile was deleted.

It's possible the beta installer was downloaded already and that's why it's prompting.

Got my wifes 7 downgraded to 10.0.3, had to restore using an old backup though.

Attempted the same for my 7+, but not wanting to use an old backup. So I tried the backup into iTunes rather than iCloud. However, now I get an "The backup “BlahPhone” cannot be restored to this iPhone because the software on the iPhone is too old." LAME.

Although, iTunes did notify me that there was an carrier update after I downgraded to 10.0.3.

Nevermind, remembered this trick to restore a newer iOS backup to an older iOS version :)
