This would mean it's a carrier tower issue and not a sim card issue, no?
If they are saying virgin
I had the same deal going. Putting a virgin SIM card in the phone seems to have solved the issue.

I thought so too, but a virgin sim seems to have cleared up my iPhone 7/VZW issues.
Virgin as in unused or as in the carrier virgin?

I tried a new SIM today and it didn't help. I went to Apple and explained my problem. He asked if I got the phone at launch, I replied yes. He said he is going to swap it out. They had to order my replacement which should arrive in a few days.

I think that at this point basically anyone who walks into the Apple Store with a connection complain involving VZW and an iPhone 7 is going to get a new phone. What really interests me is that you got your phone at launch and they're going to swap it out now. When I went back (with my fifth iPhone 7) they were willing to swap it out yet again, but I really didn't want to run up the "returned" counter on my Apple Store account so I told them I'd give it some time and got a written five week return period.

The new SIM was my idea - the two that we had tried before were the one from my iPhone 6 and one from an earlier iPhone 7. Both those SIMs had been used for the same phone number/same account on VZW. I don't know why the new SIM improved reception, but it made a big difference (without any change in iOS versions or carrier updates at the time).

It is crazy that a supposedly standardized piece of hardware, even one this complex, that is operating on a very standardized operating system in a very standardized environment (meaning the Apple iOS ecosphere, where apps are much better controlled than in the Android world), can have such variable performance.

It might be where it was made that could be a difference. Maybe the manufacturing was tweaked differently. Just strange that when I said my phone was from launch he immediately wanted to do an exchange. At this point I will try anything. And my wife, she is ready to toss the thing out the window.

My phone is week 36

Hi ip67. I just read through all your posts in this thread. It seems like your phone is actually experiencing hardware issues. You're still experiencing problems even after updating to the most recent iOS release, right? If you know for a fact that your area has strong LTE coverage, you should definitely consider contacting Apple to get a replacement. They are currently exchanging iPhone 7 Verizon designated phones for customers who are still experiencing LTE connection issues.

I hope there is an Apple Store near you. If not, their mail service is quite expeditious.

Can I request this through Apple online Chat? (No Apple store nearby, and always hate dealing with them on the phone.)

I'm aware they have to place a hold on your debit/credit card while they send you a new phone and then you send them the old one back.

Edit: I'm making monthly payments with Verizon's Upgrade program, how in the world will I be able to get a replacement phone?
[doublepost=1478391715][/doublepost] Wow, what a load of ****! Can't even get a damn replacement phone like I used to be able to without Apple Care Plus:

This is exactly why I hope it isn't hardware related. Stupid as ****!!

I am not sure if I should accept this Express Replacement guys, I just don't know; it should be software problems with iOS causing the issues. What do you think guys? Phone is perfect otherwise and chance getting a worse phone. I've read many times on this forum that a replacement phone DIDNT solve the signal problems.

Thats how express replacement has always worked... they put a hold on your card until they get your old phone back... or are you upset about something else?

You guys are luckier than me, I was given free beats headphones and they keep submitting my issue to engineering and I have explicitly said can you replace the phone and they wont do it.. im talking to executive customer relations now. I literally said 'i dont want beats headphones i want a replacement phone because none of the software fixes are restoring my wireless service to what I had with my 6S'
and they said no

Yeah I know about the hold.. My point was the lady said Express replacement is only available for Apple care Plus users, but later she still made it an option to me when I complained that I have used it in the past without ever buying Apple care Plus.

I dont think Im going to bother though, it must be software related.

ip67, I'm going to re-quote a previous post I submitted. I think your situation falls under the second issue I described below. This is also a well documented issue where getting a replacement phone has been the only solution. I don't think what you're experiencing is what the original issue this thread addresses (and was solved by recent iOS updates).

Actually, have you tried disabling VoLTE and leaving it on LTE Data only? If the answer is yes, and you're still experiencing connection issues (even after updating to iOS 10.1.1), that confirms my suspicions.

I'd like to clarify that there appears to be two issues with regard to the "No signal" problem.

The first issue is what this entire thread is about: the iPhone 7 is dropping to no signal in areas known to have strong LTE signals as the phone is moving between towers. It then has difficulty re-establishing connections in an expedient way resulting in the "No Signal" indicator. The temporary fix to this problem is to turn off VoLTE. Apple and Verizon have said (at some point on some level) that they are aware of this problem and are working on a fix which iOS 10.1 B3 with Carrier v. 26.0 appears to address for the vast majority of users.

kokonutz explained that he or she (sorry unsure of pronoun) tried disabling VoLTE (leaving LTE data only) and installed iOS 10.1 B3. This did not solve the problem as the "No Signal" indicator was present even without moving.

This leads to the second issue which people searching for answers naturally find this thread to read about: some iPhone 7s have faulty modems/a-gps components or connections to the antenna structure that are causing them to lose signal. This issue extends beyond designated Verizon/Sprint phones as evidenced by similar experiences with T-Mobile and AT&T designated phones. For these individuals, swapping the phone has solved their issues.

This is the situation kokonutz falls under. If he begins to move between towers and experiences "No Signal" but is able to reacquire it with the replacement phone, then his replacement phone, with a properly functioning modem, is now operating under the first issue to which a software fix should potentially fix.

On another note, I've noticed the first issue is experienced by many in the NYC/Tri-state area (where I live). This leads me to think that there's an issue with tower network parameters or somehow the iPhone 7 is identifying itself in a way that is conflicting with network VoLTE handoff protocol. Either way, it seems a fix is on the way, and I've heard it could come out this week.

Hey thanks for replying! Here's my situation I've experienced with my phone: phone works perfectly with LTE off. Sitting at my desk with 3 or 4 dots of LTE and trying to send texts through my Mac or browse the internet on my iPhone (I think not even using the phone does it too) would cause the radio to drop out and go to 1 dot with not even a 3G, 1x, or LTE indicator, then 0 dots, and then it goes immediately back to 4 dots of LTE after a couple of seconds (It never said no service). I then tried turning Voice over LTE off, but that didnt resolve it either, but turning LTE completely off does solve it!

So, do I need a replacement and should I accept the Express Replacement option?

Thank you again for your help!

I have a from launch iPhone 7 and my signal issues have subsided entirely.

I initially thought my problems were resolved but they aren't. What's interesting is my phone signal will jump around 1 to 3 bars while holding my phone standing/sitting in the same spot. It's almost like my signal comes in waves. If I lay the phone down on the table the signal will stay on 3 bars.

My issues significantly improved after getting a (free) replacement never-been-instaslled-in-any-phone SIM card from VZW. It doesn't make a lot of sense (the two cards I'd used had been previously used in a VZW iPhone 6 and earlier iPhone 7 on the same account and phone number), but it helped a lot.
