I just got back from the Verizon store; they're overnighting me a replacement device. They tried a new SIM card and that didn't help.

So I turned off my international, data and phone roaming settings and my issues have been solved for the last 4-5 days, this is with volte turned on. Not sure if it's that or Verizon did a fix without saying anything

I got my replacement phone today, it is a Week 42 device, and no issues! I set the phone up as new instead of doing a restore. This seems to unfortunately be hardware related guys.

Which factory?

Apple is finally sending me a new phone. They specifically said it's a new phone not a replacement and they are having me send my old phone to a specific engineer... so it seems like they are still investigating a hardware issue.

Apple did this for me on the 2nd week of release. Had a total of 3 iPhone 7's with the same issue. Also, my iPhone 7 Plus has this issue but I didn't replace it.

My experience, replacements didn't do anything.

If anyone has issues that are like the video I posted on the last page, then it's a hardware issue. My guess is the yields are poor because the CPU and modem chip are so close to each other there is a very small tolerance of EMI allowed.

Me too, thanks again for your help and nudging me to do a replacement.

The funny thing is, in the process of diagnosing my phone's problem and waiting for Apple to fix it via software release (which they did), it turns out my phone may ALSO be suffering from the GPS problem (characterized by extremely slow or no GPS connection).

I may need to get a replacement myself as that is currently the only fix for this problem. Grr..

If this is the case, then why have all my issues gone away and been resolved through numerous software updates. I took a 150 mile round trip drive to PA today and had google maps running the whole time. I had varying, but 80% of the time a full LTE signal with no bouts of 3G or no service. I'm still using my original launch day iPhone 7.

I must disagree with you about it being hardware unless it's some freaky combination of the two.

My issue was hardware, and as JeffNT has said in this thread, there appears to be two kinds of issues that have plagued these phones.

Gotcha. Must've missed a bunch of in between posts from the last time I was really reading this thread.

Popped in the Verizon store because if this doesnt get sorted out with the replacement phone im just going to move on and get the pixel (which is the nicest android phone ive ever used) and literally every display iphone there had full LTE signal, probably due to microcells inside the store. my phone was on 2 dots the entire time. I couldnt get it to pull a stronger signal, even after a reboot. I showed one of the Verizon people and they said they have seen various issues with the new phones but suggested when I get the replacement I come in and get a new sim card as well.

That is why I suggested maybe a factory issue.

I've been comparing my iPhone 7 to my wife's iPhone 6 since I replaced the SIM card with a brand new card two weeks ago. (This is the phone the Apple Store gave me a five week return period for.) So far, the readings in field test mode seem to be the same in a variety of locations. It looks like that may have solved this phone's issues.

Dudes, the number of posts to this thread has really declined over the past several days. Does this mean that the problem is resolved and I can go to my local Apple Store and purchase a new iPhone 7+ that will not experience the reception problem, or do some user still have the problem after swapping the phone many times and applying the software updates?

I can only speak for my AT&T 7+ and my wife's 7.

Reception is still nowhere near where it used to be with I was still with 6s+ and my wife had a 5s.

Still, many times my signal will drop to 1 bar whereas I used to get much better signal with the 6s+.

Once more I tried my test, and put my sim card in my wife's old 5s still running 9.3.5 and signal was much better and back to what I was used to seeing in my area. So in my opinion, the baseband and carrier files still aren't not optimized like they were in iOS 9.3.5.

Frankly I am disappointed with the 7+ and iOS 10.

I rarely notice the issue anymore after 10.1 was released. It doesn't seem to be 100% fixed, but it seems like it has improved. That's why this thread has slowed down I imagine. Most people aren't seeing the problem very often anymore from the sounds of it.

So I used my sons iPhone 6s for a whole day. It had the same signal as my iPhone 7+. So life is good.
