I went by Verzion yesterday and the guy said that this problem has been fixed by 10.0.3. but this thread is making me hold off on getting the iPhone 7.

I don't believe all iphones are experiencing these issues. For example, my wifes phone has been rock solid for the most part.

I'm going to try the new sim, I'm back to toggling airplane mode to much just to use internet or mail, this is with volte turned off.

I've been through two sims and haven't noticed any difference. Maybe you will have better lucky.

Hey thanks for replying! Here's my situation I've experienced with my phone: phone works perfectly with LTE off. Sitting at my desk with 3 or 4 dots of LTE and trying to send texts through my Mac or browse the internet on my iPhone (I think not even using the phone does it too) would cause the radio to drop out and go to 1 dot with not even a 3G, 1x, or LTE indicator, then 0 dots, and then it goes immediately back to 4 dots of LTE after a couple of seconds (It never said no service). I then tried turning Voice over LTE off, but that didnt resolve it either, but turning LTE completely off does solve it!

So, do I need a replacement and should I accept the Express Replacement option?

Thank you again for your help!

I bet your phone would have stated "No Signal" prior to updating to 10.0.3 or later. I think that with the update, it's acting the way it is now due the "fix" trying to re-establish a connection.

Based on what you said, and especially noting that LTE Data only option didn't provide a fix, I think your phone has a faulty modem/physical antenna connection.

If you've had rock solid LTE connections with previous phones, and your iPhone 7 is acting the way it is now, I would go ahead and take that swap. I'd use the express replacement service since it's an option and will allow you to have a phone to use (versus sending yours back first). It shouldn't cost anymore anyway.

Best of luck! Let us know how things turn out for you.

I did not notice any change from .0.3 to .1.

My second most recent iPhone 7 actually behaved as if it the cell radio antenna was never connected. Really odd...

This is a tangent for folks. When I got my current iPhone 7 it turns out it was done as a return/replacement rather than a warranty replacement. This turns out to be huge, since one you accept a warranty replacement you can no longer return the phone, according to the staff at the local Apple Store. On the other hand, if your return and get a replacement, the replacement is returnable. Heads up for folks who are concerned about the viability of the iPhone 7...

I don't either. The first two I got on launch day had other issues but had great cell connectivity.

A fresh sim completely changed the connectivity of my current iPhone 7. YMMV, but it can make a huge difference.

I knew I spoke too soon, opened my phone while driving and my app said to check internet. Sure enough, no service on an major city highway where service is excellent. 3G stuck for a solid 3-5 minutes afters.

So sick of this.

Based on this, I am really hesitant to do the Express Replacement and it not solve the problem and potentially get a worse phone with screen tint or something.

Maybe iOS 10.2 or cough 10.3 will fix the issue.

10.2 didn't help me. I am willing to take a chance with the replacement.

Right, but 10.2 is still in beta. I mean maybe the final GM will.

Not sure I want a phone hoping an update will improve the usability of the device. I would rather get excited for updates that improve features.

I agree. My 6S Plus was rock solid and only got the 7 Plus for the camera to test writing a new app but found out it's not possible to do what I wanted, so basically a waste of time.

I noticed that the modem chip is right next to the A10 cpu in the 7 and 7 Plus, unlike the 6 and 6S.

I'm thinking that the CPU is causing EMI with the modem chip or vice versa, causing the modem to reboot.

The SIM card slot was between the CPU and modem chips in the 6 and 6S models; perhaps this provided a little more EMI seperation.

I wonder if this issue is related to Verizon LTE Advanced network. I'm, not sure, but isn't the 7 and 7 plus the only iPhones that can actually access LTE Advanced, whereas the 6S and lower can only access their regular LTE network? Perhaps that's why the 6S and lower do not have this issue.

The 6s and 6s plus can access the Advanced LTE network.

If anyone has time, please check my video link I posted above. It's only like a 20 second vid. Thank you.

Has anyone noticed any difference with reception with the AT&T model?

I have an AT&T 7 Plus, and I was wondering, since the current 10.2 beta 2 has a new Carrier file, if that improved reception at all?
