Upgraded from a 6s plus. Tried the 7 Plus last year but had lots of problems with it. So far, I LOVE the 8 Plus. Gold color is so beautiful, crazy fast, and the camera is amazing! I take a lot of pictures so that is a nice upgrade. The one thing that was kind of strange, when I unlocked my phone, non of my apps would open up. I could click on them but nothing happened. I had to turn phone off then back on for it to work again. Anyone else experience that?

Picked up a 64GB Silver 8 and having gone on vacation and putting the new camera though the test I can tell you now its quite the upgrade over my 7. Colors are more vibrant and the detail is greater. The phone itself doesn’t feel any faster than my 7 did. Love the glass design and wireless charging.

A quick bit to add about wireless charging. I finally drained my 8+ to dead and let it sit for a few hours. Then I put it on my wireless charger and let it just sit and charge. It took about 4 hours to go from 0 to 100% with no iPhone activity happening.
If the battery life is as good as I hope/think it will be, I don’t mind setting it on ththe charger overnight. Wireless is not fast but it is convenient. If I need a true quick charge then I’ll use my iPad Pro charger to get it up quick.

I'm hoping that's the case, never had it quite this bad on a new phone before though. I'll see how it goes over the next few days.
Even when it’s indexing, it shouldn’t drain that bad. I would get it checked out if it doesn’t improve soon.

I got the 64GB 8 Plus today and so far finding the larger size okay. The phone reminds me a bit of the iPhone 4/4s (which I loved) due to the glass back and metal border.

The screen is for sure an upgrade over my regular 7 in terms of sharpness and colour. True-tone is also nice to have.

Performance is about the same, which is to say great. Never had an issue with the speed of the 7 anyway.

Camera haven't had a chance to test really, but will do over the next week.

Speakers haven't noticed much difference but again hardly used them.

Battery life from what I did - essentially restoring from an iCloud backup, and a bit of web browsing in Safari, seemed to be good but that will only be found out after more use.

All in all, enjoying it so far.

Day 4 and still stoked with the 8+. iOS 11 needs quite a bit of work, especially the App store. Looking forward to updates to fix bugs. Keen to try more AR stuff out but not many apps from what I can tell. The phone, if it survives, should last me the next few years after which time the X line may've sorted a way to handle the notch that doesn't send my OCD into overdrive.

Tangent: My iPhone 8+ experience is also made all the better as I invested in AirPods - what a product. Completely revolutionised my listening experience. Being able to be a considerable distance away from the phone and still listen to audio (including our election) while I do chores...might be my favourite Apple product in 30 years of using Apple. The pairing and charging solution is even slick. Maybe I'm just easily impressed :)

I love it. I came from a 7+ and having jump on demand with t mobile I figured it was a no brainer to jump as I also plan to jump to the X. With that said, something about this phone is absolutely different from the 7 plus. It’s faster for sure. I don’t know if it’s the true tone aspect but the screen is definitely sharper and sexier if it is not my mind. It feels a lot better in hand as well. I’m enjoying it and will be less salty having to wait for an X if it’s hard to get.

Alright guys, I also gave in and just picked up the 8+ and 8 for my wife, both 256gb!

Overall its definitely got a different feel to it compared to my 7+. I know the A11 Biotic chip is a monster but damn it feels fast! I will be putting it through the 14 day run to see if it qualifies as a legit upgrade from the 7+.

Upgraded from a Silver 6 to a black 8+ and I'm loving it so far. Camera, performance, battery life and touchID are a big upgrade. The combination of Raise to Wake and TouchID is particularly handy. Quite liking wireless charging too. I picked up an Anker wireless charging unit for £14 just for bedside. i had problems with my lightning port connector on my 6, hopefully this wont happen with my 8+ seen as I'll be using it a lot less now.

There is a noticeable weight difference and it's not quite as easy to use one-handed, but that was expected and is the compromise you pay for better battery and bigger screen. Overall I'll really happy with my upgrade.

I upgraded from iPhone 7 to iPhone 8 Plus. Reason I went for the Plus instead of the regular model: to actually justify the upgrade. Because in my opinion, the regular 8 has much less new to offer. By going for the iPhone 8 Plus I immediately got some of the features that were previously preserved for the Plus models. Such as the higher resolution, bigger battery and of course that telephoto lens.

So, it's pretty early to draw any kind of conclusion here, so I'm gonna try to describe my experience with it so far.

First the size. I knew the iPhone 8 Plus is quite bigger than the iPhone 7, but it is actually a monster of a device. I can still hold it with one hand, but that's all. Even using Touch ID is pretty annoying now as I'm mostly forced to use my other hand/finger. I think the size is the only problem with the device so far.

Then the design. I absolutely am in love with it. It's amazing how changing the aluminum back to a glass back makes the devices as a whole look even more premium and beautiful than ever before. I just love it. The black version - which I have - looks perfect with that glass back. Because of this material it also feels a bit more grippy. The strange thing is however, that on some surfaces it glides a bit away. Noticed that when I put it on my wireless charger. Constantly moves a bit causing it to stop charging. Since I'm getting a case anyway this problem will be solved as well.

It's not necessarily that much of a bad thing. It's more that without any sort of case it feels a bit fragile. I'm constantly afraid that, especially because of the size I'll drop the phone and break it. That would be a first for me. Fortunately I've already ordered a case, so that's something.

The display is great, better than my iPhone 7's. The higher resolution is noticeable and definitely an improvement. The more screen estate is pretty cool too. I get to see more content than ever before, the experience as a whole is much more immersive. I like True Tone as well, it looks natural to me.

Performance is more than good, but iOS 11 has its bugs and stutters and all, making it a bit less of a perfect experience. Even more so than with the iPhone 7, which is what annoys me most to be honest. I hope Apple will release as many updates as it takes to get it fixed. The extra GB of RAM is welcome too, although I have yet to see how much it'll benefit me.

I have yet to fully test the camera, but I did try out the zoom lens and Portrait mode. Both work great and will for sure help me with making better photos. I made a few photos with the wide-angle lens with low-light as well, and I could definitely see the difference there. There was quite some noise, but objects that my iPhone 7 could not see at all were noticeable with the iPhone 8 Plus camera. Colors seem a little bit different too, though I'm not sure which produces the most accurate colors. I'll try to put that to a test later today.

Last thing I want to mention is wireless charging. I think it's a nice new feature that makes charging look more elegant. As I mentioned before though, my phone slides away constantly. So until I've got my case I'll use the cable. I also noticed how hot the phone gets when it's on the wireless charger, but that may have been temporarily. I will keep an eye on that as soon as I get my case.

Anyway, I'm happy so far with the iPhone 8 Plus. It's a decent upgrade over the iPhone 7, and it might turn out to be even more so when I try some of the other new features such as 4K @ 60FPS video. :)

I love it so far. Sure, it looks exactly like my iPhone 7 Plus, but you can tell the speed of the phone just from going in and out of Apple Music back to other applications. The photos I have taken today easily trounce the already impressive 7 Plus. I went with the 8 simply because I don’t want to wait for the X, plus all my cases fit it. Low light photos are slightly better than on the 7 Plus. (Which again did not disappoint).

I gave in and got myself an 8+. Main reason for me was screen size - other benefits such as true tone and the incremental updates were also nice.

X has been cleverly marketed with its screen size when in reality it’s just a taller 4.7 screen. I’m going to wait for the X+ next year when the new design is more refined.

Exact same reasons as me. I'm hoping there will be an X Plus next year. I'm not paying £1000 for a longer screen

mooie samenvatting...bedankt!

well written and a nice sum up of your experience so far!

I agree. AirPods are my favorite Apple product in some time. The carrying case is almost as impressive as the AirPods themselves.

Is there a reason the 2 Qi chargers on the Apple store are £50?
Yikes. That is a lot. I got one on amazon for 12.99 on a lightening deal. Some here got one for $7.99. Wonder if $50 one is better.

Did you have video hiss on the 7 Plus you've been using all this time? I don't have it at all on mine. I don't think it necessarily needs to plague all the IPhones so I would return and get one that doesn't hiss.

Yes, it was on my 7 Plus as well (4 different phones I tested all had it).

Got my hands on an 8Plus to hold me over until the X arrives (whenever that may be) and it has been a pretty smooth upgrade. The only issue I'm seeing (or hearing rather) is the crackling in the ear piece during phone calls. Otherwise the 8Plus is incredibly speedy and I'm loving the new camera and feel of the glass design. TrueTone took some getting used to but is irreplaceable now and the speakers are beastly. Really impressive sound. Battery life has been better than 7Plus by miles.
