It works. Not much to report in that area. I have a pad in my car and when I placed it down it just started to charge.

Coming from a 6+ I’m far more happy with the speed of the phone. As for why I didn’t spring for the X, I didn’t want to downgrade my sceen size. If Apple came out with a plus equivalent X, I would have been first in line.
Thanks

Long time 6S+ owner.. so torn between 8 or 8+.

Full disclosure.. I’m using 7 now and appreciate the smaller weight and size but sometimes feels too small. Reading reviews that the 8+ is noticeably heavier than 6S+.
I debated on a plus. I guess if you are used to it you would miss it. My cousin got one because she had a hard time reading. Kept the plus a week and got a regular. I have small hands so the regular is perfect for me. Cannot wait to get mine. Feeling better about it after reading the comments.

Has anyone used an otterbox symmetry?? Got good reviews on Amazon. I’ve used defenders in the past but so bulky. On my 7 I have a Spigen which was good but fingerprints were horrible since I chose jet black. Done with that for sure.

I upgraded from a 6s and love the glass back. It seems a lot faster than my 6s and the screen is better as well. The back camera is a huge boost for me and I enjoy the haptic feedback as well

Silver 64GB 8+ here. First, it's my first plus phone and it is humongous. I have small hands for a guy ("i guarantee you there's no problem"), and this is just a tad unwieldy. A case definitely improves the grip when using two hands but makes one handed use a bit taxing. Pros: I love the extra resolution on the screen compared to the 4.7" phones, and yes, I can definitely see the difference. Coming from a 6s, the extra color range is a nice improvement. I like the stationary home button, and it reads my sweaty hands/fingers MUCH better than the 6s. Hasn't rejected me once (s/o to those of us with palmar hyperhidrosis). The battery is an absolute beast. I've had an average use day so far today and I'm at 70% with 2:45 of usage and 6:50 of standby at 50% brightness. The speakers sound great and the haptic feedback throughout the OS is very satisfying (try going to the timer app and flicking the scroll wheel). Performance gains are much appreciated. On the 6s, some tasks, like waiting for contact suggestions to populate when composing a new message, took a considerable amount of time, and the 8+ breezes right through it. ARkit is f***ing amazing, and I was a skeptic. I can't wait to see what developers do with it over the coming months. I love the look of the back glass as well.
Cons: The camera doesn't have the detail I was expecting. Maybe the reviews just hyped it up too much. I will say though that the video looks amazing and color reproduction is vivid and wonderful. The only real con for me is that the lightning port has just a *tad* bit of wobble to it. Is it worth seeking a replacement? I'm worried about the water-tight seal.

It seems like the ho hum reviews on the 8’s weren’t quite accurate. So glad people are really liking their phones. Was hoping I wouldn’t regret upgrading.
It was that second glass of wine—and then the offer of a $200 bill credit—that caused me to click “Upgrade”. But I’m really really glad I did. Coming from a 6S the camera alone was reason to go to the 8+. But there’s so much more. Personally, I really like products like the 8+ that are “mature” and “refined.” Makes for a really great user experience.

So here’s one beef I’ve got with Apple when they are making these new phones. Every year they say the new processors are faster and more efficient so you’d think the phones would get better battery life. This would be true except Apple made the batteries in these new devices smaller than they were. I would love to have even better battery life than before but making the battery smaller to keep the same battery life bothers me. I’m aware they make internal changes but just because the status quo on battery life is “acceptable” doesn’t mean that they can’t strive to make it better.

Didnt thought id have gotten the 8 Plus as I was a proud owner of the Red Edition 7 Plus.

Couldnt help it when I saw how silver looks like White (from certain lighting angle), and where I'm from Silver seems to be in low stock, maybe due to low popularity...

Gotta admit, the glass back is AMAZING!!! :D

Picked up an 8 gold 64 yesterday that I had to return today due to a faulty screen. It’s a descent upgrade from my old 6 and I like it. I should say though, I don’t get the hype about the new phones each year. This is the first time I ever bought on launch day. Surprised at the lack of queues. The finish is very nice and the glass is more tactile and less slippery in hand than the 6.

I am really liking my 8+ coming from a 6s. I was underwhelmed with upgrading from a 6s to a 7 last year and it was the first upgrade I skipped in a long time. However coming from the 6s, I am getting the faster a11 processor, better camera, haptic feedback home button, better speaker phone, wireless charging, water resistant and gorgeous back glass design and not to mention, the increased usability, better battery and resolution going from a regular model to a plus sized version. I decided to go to the plus version since I felt it was time to try it and would feel more even more of an upgrade and it certainly has.

I can definitely see though why iPhone 7 users would hold off as the improvements are incremental. I think we need to face the fact that you are not going to see major smartphone improvements year after year and it makes sense to upgrade every 2-3 years.

I am liking my 8+ so much, I am pretty sure I am going to surprise my wife with the gold model for her bday in November. I was very on the fence with the X as we all know it will be a new experience and one we might not like for a price of $200-300 more than the current line. I still have 13 days to decide, but as of now, I am keeping the 8+ and might consider next year’s X after they perfect it a little.

I picked up an 8+ 256GB after selling my 7+ 128GB. Is there a big difference? Not really. As with every "S" iteration which this really is, it's exactly what I expected. The camera is wonderful, I've yet to try wireless charging but my Qi Charger should be here tomorrow. It's definitely smooth as butter. I see no flaws in my phone either even though I don't really look for them all that much.

Using it naked feels 1000% better. Not slippery at all like previous Plus'.

The screen is a definite improvement as well. The only downside I see is that it was expensive here in Canada.

Instagram crashes when you try to do a story with a 4K 24fps video. Guess they need to update their app. I’m using an iPhone 8 64GB

Day 2 - I feel like this phone has become a little bit more slippery than when I first handled it. Maybe because I’ve been alternating with using a case and going naked... gosh, this phone is beautiful. No regrets on my color choice whatsoever.

I absolutely love this screen. Nice balance and not so blue as my previous phone screen, although that didn’t bother me at all. I don’t like screens being too warm. This one though is just really well balanced.

I’ve been trying to take pictures randomly at different times of day. I do see marked improvements in most situations. However, I’ve noticed a couple of low light pictures that were meh, others that were really nice, but I didn’t make any special changes to take the best picture in each situation, so won’t say if it’s me or the phone just yet.

I used the speakerphone while I was in the car with my husband on a call. He felt the phone sounded good on speaker. To me it sounded similar to my 6+ speaker just with a little more depth (bass) and clarity. No complaints, but the real test will be if people on the other end can hear me well. That was an issue I had with my previous phone.

So the Touch ID button. I get that I don’t have to press hard and the response is very fast, but I have an odd click that I perceive as the button being off center and maybe misaligned. Hard to describe because it’s not bad like that but just something I notice. The button isn’t actually off center or misaligned, just how it feels to my thumb. Weird.

I was driving 4 hours to Saint Louis today, so my phone was charging since the car required USB connection to play music. It will be a few days before I can really evaluate battery.

Other points are more iOS 11 related, mostly good though. I’m using more features that probably already existed, but actually perform a lot better.

Can you get through a whole day on the 8 battery? I’m not a heavy user but I wasn’t able to on my 7.
here is a screen shot after having the phone for a day already... way better battery life then my 6s

Also moving from 6s 64gb to 8 64gb SG... loving this thing so far... fast, fluid, the display is top notch and the battery life is great.... the camera is a definite improvement too :)

How do you like the 8+ compared to the Red 7+? I’ve currently got a SG 8+ with a Red 7+ on the way next week that I found a good deal on. Debating on keeping the 8 or the 7.
