Someone else posted the correct sequence for a hard reboot on the iPhone 8 series, but I don't see the post here anymore.
  1. Press and release Volume Up
  2. Press and release Volume Down
  3. Hold Power until Apple logo appears

Thanks. It worked. Talk about changing things for the sake of changing things. The old combo (power+volume down) is still the one that works on the iPhone 7 with iOS 11.

Mine fit perfectly in the same LifeProof Fre case I've been using on my iPhone 7 for the past 9 months. Didn't have to force it or anything. All the buttons work flawlessly.
Wonder if its the same for the plus, Best buy has the Iphone 7 plus cases on sale for $48.99

Space Gray on the iPhone has changed it was a dark gray... then at some point on other products it was a lighter gray like the Mac Book. I could tell looking at pictures though its basically black, which I am fine with myself. This particular color does seem inconsistent across product lines. I think in looking at the watch, the iPhone and Mac.. all the space gray colors are a bit different. I guess the term "50 shades or gray" apply here.

Coming from 6s+ to an iphone 8+ (space grey) and I love it already. The glass back feels much better in the hands than the aluminum/metal back of the 6s+. The Truetone screen looks better as well compared to the screen on the 6s+.

Setup was an absolute breeze since I had my iPad Pro to help with the process.

Speakers sounds better than what I had on the iPhone 6s+ as well. Sounds bit crisper and have more bass (in my opinion).

Overall, I love my iphone 8+. Iphone X looks great but I much rather have touchID than faceID.

I have been having mine for a few hours now and I am really loving it! I upgraded from a 6S to the 8 and it was definitely worth it. The camera is so much better and I am loving the true tone display too. The phone itself is STUNNING in my opinion. I got the gold color and I almost don’t want to put a case on it because I want to actually see the phone. I am going to though because I have a 3 year old and I don’t want it to be dropped or anything and break. I am very happy I upgraded. I was a bit worried that I wasn’t going to really notice to much of a difference between the two but I really do. It’s just so much snappier and the display is crystal clear. I am very happy with it.

Glass back is nice. Not slippery st all.

Funny how many people denied that the previous phones were slippery. Now the current one is "not slippery."

True tone makes the display warmer than I like. My eyes tend to prefer the cool, blueish iPhone tint.

This would be a deal killer for me unless you can fix it.

Camera is MUCH better than the 7+

Thought the camera was the best thing about the 7+

Touch more weight.

Bad.

No hideous notch

This notch issue is probably overblown.

Typing from my iPhone 8+ 256gb unlocked space gray version, I upgraded from original 6+. Very fast. I did some comparisons on wifi with both phones and this one smokes it so very happy. Truetone is very nice and 4k video at 60fps is life changing. Slomo and touch ID is greatly improved from 6+ versions. Love the look and with otterbox clear case it looks very glossy and sharp. If you get iphone 8, space gray is the color to get. Ill wait for iPhone X2 or X4 if I wait another three years;)

AWESOME news. I'm waiting for mine still from UPS. Also upgrading for the first time since the 6 Plus.
That phone treated me well, but it was time for a new faster phone. I did add IOS11 on it..eh, little choppy so far on that 6 Plus, I'm going to keep it though.

I really love my iPhone 8 Silver 64GB. Battery life is amazing. Around 8 to 10% of battery loss in an hour of browsing, watching YouTube videos and taking pictures with brightness set at 50%. It's blazing fast, loud speakers which provide quality sound, great camera also in low light and the build quality is very good too. The glass back is grippy and it seems like it's made of a solid kind of glass too. Apple did a great job with this phone!

Been running this case for 3 years... survived many drops without a scratch. Just look for the 8 version instead of the Plus.

Already got mine for my 8 Plus that was delivered today.

I would, if I wasn't STILL WAITING for confirmation from Best Buy that my phone is ready for pickup. Going to be angry if it doesn't happen today.

Glad to see everyone enjoying their new toys!

Stopped by the Apple store this morning a little after 8:30 with the intent of just playing with the phones and seeing the colors in person. I really liked all 3, surprisingly! Finally asked if they had either the silver or gold 8+ in 256GB, they didn’t. Left there and walked into my nearby Verizon store just after they opened and they had the silver 8+ 256GB in stock. Silver (with this beautiful white back) was my first choice so I walked out with it.

The change from the black to the white bezel threw me off initially, however, for browsing the web, emails, etc. I actually like it better. This silver/white is soooo elegant. I pray the white stays white.

Coming from a 6+, this phone is so smooth to use. Haven’t had any tab reloads! I like True Tone and the camera so far. Definite improvements. The screen seems better - not sure why that is. The speaker sounds a lot better than my previous phone.

Still need to test low light pictures, iOS 11 in general, and play with more apps over the weekend, but so far, no complaints.

I posted this in the UK preorder thread :) no point in typing it all out again LOL

I'm thoroughly enjoying my new 8 Plus gold. It's beautiful, I love the build and weight of it because of the glass. I don't feel I have brand new phone since I came from the 6s Plus but i do feel like it's greatly improved version, it's very fast and the screen looks great! No issues with no headphone jack since I've been using wireless earphones for about 18 months now.

I popped in to the Edinburgh Apple Store about an hour ago, it was heaving! glad I have my phone and I didn't have to wait around. I treated myself to two leather cases, black and aubergine, I actually only intended on buying one but thought, eh... why not. The aubergine is a cool tone dark purple, not the aubergine I'm used to, I thought it would be warmer. Nevertheless, it looks fabulous on my phone (purple, gold and white is my current favourite colour combo and is the theme throughout my desk set up).

So yeah, I'm content with the upgrade :) I hope everyone is happy with theirs.

I'll also add, I've not had a chance to properly play around with the camera properly just yet but the shots I did take I really like, I've noticed a difference compared to my other phone. I really like the OS, it seems snazzier, nothing too drastic, very sutble. all in all, I'm happy with my purchase, which is a relief because I wasn't all that excited about it like I usually am on launch day.

I have my 8 256 in silver. Got it at the Apple store this morning (my appointment was at 10:30 but I kept getting reminders an hour before, so I figured they must really want me to get it lol). Anyway, so far so good. I haven't really done anything with the camera yet but the set up was so easy at home. I do wonder if we have face recognition on this phone? My husband was curious (he has the 7 and probably won't be getting anything for another year).

Fix what exactly?

So what exactly are your impressions of your new iPhone 8, or do you have absolutely nothing of value to post like your posting history suggests?

You pretty much nailed it. An entire year of the speaker phone being garbage and the phone being too heavy. Let the hide button be your friend and the negativity finally end.

No FaceID on the 8's, only on the X. 8 has TouchID

So, if I search a contact on my iPhone 8 Plus using SpotLight I get all sorts of results except my contacts!! Any ideas? Am I the only one?

Hey since you're reading minds did you get this when you read mine?
"FINALLY a new design! I've waited sooo long for Apple to....wait, does the content actually go past the notch? Is that letterboxing in landscape mode? Is the screen really a stretched out 4.7" iPhone? Does tap to zoom crop video and actually hide it behind that...notch? So tall of a screen that it's not a one handed device annnnnd no more reachability? Untested face ID? I have to stretttttttttch to reach the Notification Center drop down? No worries, reachability. Oh wait.
Hold up, this dated 8+ still has a nice wide screen. It has the same internals as the X. It doesn't hide content. It's native resolution allows video to fill my entire screen. It, it, it meets all of my preferences. But, who will know I have the new phone???? It looks the same as the last 3 but does everything better, yet no one will know I have the new phone!!! Wait, weird, it's like I don't care? Like, I don't justify my self worth by my phone? I don't need 'attention'? Will they know I had the money to buy an X for me entire extended family but simply chose the 8+? I don't care about that either? Shoot. Guess I'll just have to enjoy this phone I chose because to me, it's the best option. How boring"

:D:D:D:D

So lets see here.

iPhone 8+ has one OIS lens, iPhone X has two
iPhone X has a bigger taller screen than iPhone 8 in almost the same size as iPhone 8. screen surface 30% larger than iPhone 8 and 10% smaller than iPhone 8+
iPhone X moves forward with native HDR on screen.
iPhone X has 3X native resolution while iPhone 8+ like all + phones before it is downsamples 2x which incurs a 5% blurs on the image
iPhone X has better contrast, better color saturation, richer colors and deeper blacks combining OLED and above.
Face ID is more secure than Touch ID.
While parked if the phone locks up on your car dock, look at the screen instead of touching it to open it (
Front camera ALSO has portrait mode unlike 8+ which has portrait mode on back camera only. you know, for the TRUE selfie?
Display garners from one edge of the other.
Higher resolution than BOTH 8+ and 8 so more content on screen, clearer due to clearer display (see above)
Every hands on who has tried horizontal mode for media says the notch is not distracting when zoomed in.

Is that worth 200$ more? for the new direction Apple is taking.. yes it is. Will I be the guinea pig? probably because I believe in Apple's new direction more than you
