Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
It's ok. Think what you want. I happen to work for T-Mobile. It's not like we subsidize phones and price them differently than other carriers, like Verizon. /s
Take a look at the Note 8 price tag at T-Mo, then look at the price at Verizon.

So as an employee of T Mobile you have confirmed the base price for the new iPhone 8, and that the base storage capacity will be 64GB... not rumours, but confirmation from yourself..

Not saying that. Im saying that the base model won't break $1000, and that T-mobile could subsidize a portion, like we have done with the Note 8. The base model of iPhone X Edition could be 64gb or it may be 128gb, but regardless, it wont go above $999.

Hahahaha hahahaha nicely manoeuvred away from your hole on that one!! What you said was far too good an opportunity to not call you out on!! :D

If I were you I'd best be ready for low sales.. in the UK it will be £1000 if it's $1000 so it won't sell loads here..

Don't underestimate the power of a fruit logo and some cult like minded folks. Plus its brand is crazy strong. Apparently they might call the 7S an 8 to psychologically toy with buyers.

Highly doubtful, it will sales like crazy. Foolish to think otherwise. Will crush all over other premium hand set sales.

iPhone sales will be astronomical because people care about the software, the brand, are loyalist, do not like Android, have disposable incomes, and have a plethora of reasons to. Samsung will still sell a ton of Galaxy Note 8s despite the price as well. It comes down to the person's mentality. Those that are spend thrifty will look for a deal or wait for the pricing to drop. Plus Apple basically penetrates many major segments: 4" market, cost-conscienous, premium, ultra-premium, techies, mid-majors (2016 models in 2017 year), etc. With 3 new phones going with 3 older models, 6 device offerings will give consumers plenty of choices.

Have to concur with the posts between yours and mine—it’ll still sell like crazy. The iPhone Upgrade program at Apple in the US will let customers have it for less than $50/mo, as will all the major carriers. People will have few second thoughts about purchasing it when the cost is presented in that manner vs. full retail. And it’ll be out of stock in stores for months.

Take a look at the Note 8 price tag at T-Mo, then look at the price at Verizon.

Then you should know that iPhones are the same cost regardless of carrier. I’m not talking about Android phones. Obviously those vary when the Note 8 is $930 vs $960 depending on carrier. iPhones are the same, they are Apple’s MSRP. I happen to work at one of the big 2 carriers, (not saying which for obvious reasons) so I know this firsthand.

Now take a look at your iPhone. iPhone 7 32GB will retail for $649. Just like it would at Sprint/AT&T/Verizon. It is the same. The ONLY place that has it different on the overall retail cost are authorized agents and places like Best Buy so that they make money off of a full retail purchase.

There is a difference from carrier to carrier though. With a 5C trade in, people could get a 7+ 32gb at $370 during the 2016 pre-order/launch time frame. T-Mobile caused companies to be aggressive with iPhone promos.

You lot go and ask everyone you know, will they spend £1000 or $1000 and up on an iPhone, or if they are prepared to spend £60 plus a month for 24 months plus a charge up front from £50 and up... for an iPhone I don't know what the charges will be in dollars..

I think you'll get an awful lot of responses of No! The iPhone 7S will sell as always, once the initial rush for the 8 has finished, I bet it'll nose dive due to price. Their are far far far too many alternatives that are very good and half the cost on the market.

They aren't iPhones so no there aren't any alternatives

The major part of current iPhone users will not go to android

People will pay these prices just stay like they spend £800 last year on the 7s plus

And the 8 will be a big upgrade from last year

It will be sold out very quickly and will likely be so most of the year

Price has never mattered to Apple users

Not a good sample size at all because it will be completely too small to indicate market trends and consumer preferences. Even if 10 people got 100 of their friends.

Well you'd better hope the same as the CEO of one if the biggest mobile store chains in the UK because they clam the iPhone 7 did NOT sell as well as other iPhones, and that is someone who WOULD know.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41034559

They highlight increased phone costs will affect their profits due to lower sales, and the iPhone 8 is rumoured to be the most expensive..

Right, but he was talking about the MSRP being different and varying from company to company (as they do with android manufacturers occasionally), not promos, otherwise that would be correct.

I haven't kept an eye out on iPhone prices at launch, but it wouldn't surprise me if MSRP has been broken at least once somewhere somehow.

Not from the 4 main carriers. Now indirect retailers and places like Best Buy inflate it usually ~$50 to turn a profit on full retail sales.

Getting back on point. I was mostly just telling the other commenter that their adamant guarantee of the price point should be taken with a grain of salt when they then say things like carriers will fluctuate the retail cost like they do with android devices, which has never occurred.

And that very same CEO, in the same article you linked to, expects sales to improve with the iPhone 8:

It is hoping that the next iPhone 8 - due to be launched in the autumn - will prove a hit after its sales of the iPhone 7 were disappointing.

Mr James said: "We're anticipating that iPhone 8 launch will be much better, maybe not as good as the iPhone 6, more like the same numbers as the iPhone 6S.

"We think the iPhone 8 is a better phone and we will see our customer base returning."

And the iPhone 7 may not have sold as well for Carphone Warehouse, but is sure did well for Apple, exceeding expectations and IIRC, sales from the 6S generation.

Yea, he is contradicting himself, I saw that. Because he also claims they fully expect profits to take a hit due to lower sales due to increased prices in phones this year. So that would also translate to still no record selling iphone 8. But it does indeed highlight the iPhone 7 in some markets was not the sales success of previous iPhones. Anyway this line of discussion should be in another thread I feel looking at that title of this one...

Low sales only because of constrained supply. I'll be up at 3am to pre order one and I'll bet they will be sold out in minutes. Apple will set sales records for another year.

Yeah but Samsung is the king of inflating their sales numbers with the ridiculous amount of BOGOs, free accessories, and straight up discounts. Well I shouldn't say inflating as they are true sales, but I'd think that Apple must enjoy that profit margin a lot more as it's fairly rare to see an iPhone discount, free accessories or BOGO for a brand new release.
