I own both and have been going back and forth between the two but no more.

The 8+ wins, if just for the keyboard. Both are great phones but going back and forth between the two is hard so I picked my favorite and am selling the X today.
i did the same Sold my X
actually "got rid of" my x
it was too small battery life was terrible for me It was'nt smooth on 11.2 which was Crazy for me cause it was a 1249$ phone,
the screen was so wierd ,the notch, wierd aspect ratio, it got hot on the top-right corner
and i didnt even like the design i use My phone For Anatomy apps, taking videos of some classes, etc so battery life and screen size are important for me
and Face ID is slower than Touch id im just not used to that and Removing the Home button made everything much harder
im not against the x but to me its just a fancy useless product with Powerful advanced Features ,and i dont want that

I wasn't impressed with the X either. They could have put the fingerprint scanner on the back, this keeping that easier, faster and more secure means of unlocking it, while freeing up that space on the front of the phone for an edge to edge display. While in the end the notch isn't the end of the world, it is unnecessary... They could have had a slight "chin" at the top, like 3mm, for the speaker and cameras and sensors...

I am afraid I got tired of the 8+ and went back to the X. Loving it!

Both a great phones, it is great we have choice.

Not much of a choice though... Smaller screen with a notch, or larger screen without one. The software and experience and features are nearly identical...

My case is different. Absolutely love the iPhone X. After iPhone 6, I moved away from Apple as I got bored with iPhones and iOS. Just the amazing design is iPhone X brought me back. Th form factor of iPhone X is just perfect for my liking and IMO it’s the most beautiful phone in the market. I’ve had all sorts of devices to compare.

I want to ask a direct and honest question. What is so "amazing" about the X design? The screen is smaller, it uses OLED which has been around for years... the notch reduces the usable screen size and the oddball resolution makes viewing videos even smaller than it already is...

Other than it being pretty to look at, which sort of goes away the second you slap a case on it, what is "amazing" about it?

I am not saying it sucks or anything, I guess I just don't "get it" when people talk about how it's amazing or revolutionary... They finally adopted OLED 3 years after everyone else, and they took a small screen and took a bite out of the top... LOL

I think that overall, while it might look a little "dated", the 8+ is actually the better phone. Larger screen, no dumb notch, fingerprint scanner, better battery life and to be honest, the difference in image quality between Apple's LCD and OLED screens, is barely perceptible... 99% of the end users wouldn't know there was a difference unless you told them.

It’s personal choice. I just can’t stand any phone that’s more than 5-5.2”. So that rules out all plus size phones. I didn’t want to cover the look of the phone so I have a clear transparent case which is so slim and it shows off how beautiful the phone looks.
In terms of the OLED screen I find that the iPhone X display to be one of the best in the industry if not the best.
And I actually like the notch - it makes it unique. Moreover now very other manufacturer is copying it!!

I went from the 7 plus to the X and couldn’t be happier.

The shape, the size, and the weight is perfect for me as is the readability of the screen in sunlight.

One thing I don’t understand is why so many say that the screen is smaller than the iPhone 8, per specs it certainly isn’t.

Another reason why I love my iPhone X is the battery life. This has the best battery life for my usage of all the phones I’ve used. I’ve used pretty much every regular size android phones
I toss it on my wirelsss charging of at night and use it the whole day and still has some juice left around 11pm. Never had this on any other phone.

The specs are deceiving. I could make a screen with a 7" diagonal, which sounds huge. of course, if it's 6 inches tall and 1 inch wide, the "usable space" doesn't really jive with the "specs"... haha

When you look at the oddball aspect ratio and that notch, the actual usable portion of the screen is a good bit smaller than the 8+ and a lot of other phones. I went back and forth with the X and 8+, side by side in the Apple store, and in the end the 8+ was the better buy for me. Face unlock is slower and has limitations and is a solution to a problem that doesn't need to exist. While the phone is pretty to look at, I don't see a phone as a status symbol or fashion accessory. It's a tool. When people on food stamps own iPhones, it's not much of a status symbol... LOL

As for other makers following the notch, I agree. I don't know why, there is no real need for it, but just like Apple followed Android on many features, and followed the Note when it came to larger screens, I guess that Android makers were bound to follow Apple on some things... I just wish they had chosen something better... haha

It has less width so it’s perceived as smaller / in content is smaller

Compare apps and you’ll see

But I would find it tough going from 7plus to 8plus

When I compared them, the 8plus felt
Like a brick with the added weight in the same form factor

I love my x jail broken and have my 7plus jail broken as the backup device / fun to stream while charging other phone sometimes if I don’t feel like hopping on my iPad

Guess it is personal choice but I find my X amazing. The 8+ is a great phone and I still own one but the X, to me, beats it in almost every way.

I sold the 8+ and went with the Essential... larger screen, minimal notch(they actually were the first with a notch and edge to edge screen)...

I had essential phone as well amongst the countess androids. Great device - I just can’t seem to like Android OS.

I came from the 7+ to the iPhone X. Sometimes I miss the wider screen, other times I don’t. I may not be able to resist the 6.5 inch Plus version.

The gestures alone make the home button iPhones feel old in comparison. The gestures are so smooth and intuitive.

Had all plus sized phones in the past (6 Plus, 6S Plus, 7 Plus). Got the X as soon as it came out.

The OLED screen is a thing of beauty ... those true black blacks, especially on apps that have a lot of black, are a huge, huge improvement over the LCD displays.

I wouldn't go to the 8/8 Plus for anything.

Now, that said, I'm really looking forward to the Plus-sized X (whatever it's going to be called) coming out this year. This same display, Plus sized? I can't wait.

How do you sell your phone? I want to sell my 8 plus, but I’m a
little leary of getting ripped off. I
going to get the new phone in September.

I sold it on Facebook market. As for getting ripped off, I only meet in public, visible places. And the 9mm on my hip in plain sight usually conveys the message that I am not in the mood for shenanigans... ‘Murica.

I am interested to see the plus size with the cheaper lcd panel.

Tl;dr: The specs measure diagonally. Therefore they don't take into account the gap in screen left by the notches, actual viewing area of the X is 97% (3% smaller) than the 6+/7+/8+. Sneaky Apple.

Perhaps Apple could have put the fingerprint sensor on the back, but does that *really* make it “easier or faster” to unlock the iPhone? Thats debatable. Larger phones are not the same for everyone’s hand size. I prefer Face ID, being I don’t have to reach around the back of a large iPhone to unlock it. And yes, I have used smart phones with the fingerprint sensor on the back, and its cumbersome. Functionality is important with smart phone manipulation, I think Apple executed Face ID fairly well. Version 2 should be interesting to see the improvements made.

Just today gone to a Produc RED 8 Plus from the X.

Didn’t like the taller ratio screen, the gestures you have to use due to the lack of a Home button.

I wanted a wider rather than a taller screen. OLED screen was good but the LCD wasn’t bad anyway - yes I can tell it’s not as good but that is something I can live with given the other benefits.

For me, the X is the better device. Plus phones are too big for me, I also prefer the OLED display

I am ok with face unlock if it has a wide angle lens, so that if it sitting on the table and I want to unlock it, I don't have to pick it up, but I guess the fingerprint reader on the back would have the same issue. It's more about that notch, taking up valuable screen real estate. You wouldn't want a giant notch taken out of your TV, so why would you want it on your phone? I don't mind bezels. Yes, an edge to edge phone is pretty to look at, but that doesn't always translate into easier to use. To me, it's form over function, which is an Apple guiding principle...

Having a choice Comes at the expense Of the fact that apple doesnt seem focused on one Phone at a time ,This is just my opinion , i may be wrong though

Since jobs has passed away , apple has annouced two and Now 3 phones every year
it's cool, because people have more options But still keeping it to a maximum of 2 phones each year Wouldve been much better,
Its like they make iphones with the same Design... but in different sizes ...
And Honeslty, I liked How it was before 2012 better
