What is up with the iPhone having a capacity of 74GB? Right before the cutaway to the actor at the end of the video, it shows the iPhone with 24GB of Audio, 13 Video, and 13 Other. Could someone explain this to me; I'm sure that there is something I'm missing, but I can't figure it out.

So no access to SIM card then?

If you can sync it, then I guess you can sync your SIM card as well, meaning it will be more difficult for a user to actually remove the card into a new phone as they wish?

I guess there are no music ringtones

A big SURPRISE!!! or not. ;)

It would appear that in store the only thing they have to do is to undertake the credit check and take the actual payment for the phone before letting you walk out the store. This should significantly cut down the time it takes to purchase if the idea is to have most customers complete the process as outlined in the activation at home.

What is obvious is that phones come out in an unactivated state and you will NOT be able to do anything with the phone (eg synch music/photo's/video's) untill it's been activated. There must be some sort of unlocking key transmitted to the iPhone during the activation process which unlocks it and allows for normal usage.

The question is how secure has that part of the process been made. eg I hope a market doesnt surface in iPhone hax4ring where they attempt to bypass AT&T's activation process and the network lock on the phone. In an ideal word I would hope not but somehow I think SOMEONE will try -_-. I think in the UK they won't be so trusting. You will NOT be able to walk out of the shop with the phone untill it's been fully activated cos UK phone retailers are too commission concious and they'd be worried that the phone wouldn't get activated and hence loss of commission.

Available space

Anyone else notice that after they synced the iPhone and showed how much memory was taken up, it displayed an 80G storage capacity? At the top of the page it said the phone had 8G, but at the bottom portion of the screen, it sure looked like 74.40G. I doubt it's a sign there's an 80G flash drive in the works. But I figured I'd ask.;)

(Looks like I've been beaten to the punch.)

Since they were using an iPod, maybe the custom ringtones tab will still be there once you actually place an iPhone into iTunes.

yea i noticed this also -- probably just a dumb mistake, not on par with apples usually quality care. Someones gonna lose their job

Question!

So can i just walk into At&t and pick up an iphone without a contract or does this only work for the apple stores?

iPhone size on activation video

Note the size available when the user on the video syncs his iPhone. The capacity is listed at 74.40 Gig.

....?

Just spotted this and wanted to post. Seems everyone has already run into it.

Ugh. I can't wait any longer for this phone!

I was wondering this myself. Everytime I've gotten a new phone, they always take my sim card from my old phone and place it in my new one. This doesn't seem to be the case here. So what happens with your old phone?

"minimum new 2-year wireless service plan and activation fee required to activate iPhone features, including iPod; plans are subject to AT&T credit approval."

It's probably to stop people doing what I planned to do, I live in the UK but I'm in the US on some business in July.

I was going to buy an iPhone and hope the network lock will be broken some time soon to use it in the UK with my current network.

Looks like even if i did buy one I couldn't even use it as an iPod/PDA/Web Terminal back in the UK

With email accounts as easy to sync as shown in the video, do you think the iPhone supports Mail.app's Exchange type accounts? I know in the video they only mention POP & IMAP, but figured I'd ask to see if anybody had heard anything.

A lot of people here at work are like... "Wow! If only it had exchange...*sadface*" Setting up an email forwarding address is hardly as good with the way exchange syncs calendars & meetings. Luckily I do not have to be tied directly to my phone through exchange so I could care less.

Point is if apple did support exchange, they could snare a hell of a lot of business people- and I'm trying to find out if it's already possible.

Anyone think the online Apple store will start selling the iPhone today/soon? Have it delivered on Friday? Would make a lot of sense to me.

OMG!!!!
THis Is BIG!
i wonder if their will be an 80g version!

74.4 is equal to 80 GB. my 80 GB iPod only has 74.4GB available!!!! the only reason i didnt want an iPhone is because it wouldnt have enough capacity for me (that and i am worried i will scratch and destroy it cause thats what i do with every cell phone of mine) but still id go for it at 80GB
