I've been doing this for the last 2 days. Clean up my contacts and calendar. Get better pictures of everybody.

Ditto

So is anyone going to talk about the rate plan... they're a lot better than people had speculated. Some projections were anywhere from $35-$45 for JUST the data...and here we find that these prices are much better. I'm really pleased and this was the final step to make me say "okay yeah I'm going to get one on Friday" Thanks Apple you really knocked it out of the park with this one! :)

Funny thing is, in the Sync part of the video, they for sure weren't using an iPhone, unless the new capacity of an iPhone is gonna be 80 GB. They probably used a 80gig iPod... Silly mistake  :)

Yep - I saw that too. Unless they used Steve's phone for that... ;):p:D

so, how many calls do you think "Johnny Appleseed"'s new iPhone is gonna get today. They show the number in the video. by the way, i'm guessing they made this video back on May 14th, since that's the date that came up when asking for his birthday.

I tried it :D His mailbox is full ...

I completely agree! I was flipping out the other day thinking about how drastic of a change my account would get by upgrading to the lovely iPhone -- but for twenty bucks! You can bet I'll be out in the hot, icky, South Florida sun with pitchers and a lawn chair on Friday. Ooh I can't wait!

It's not even out here for a good while, yet I'm still downloading that video :D

The UI in the video video indeed looks resolution independent. Might also be 'enhanced using Adobe® Photoshop® software' though.

Damn At&t

I just got thru calling att and they told me that i have to buy a new 2 year contract (even though i already have one) for the iphone, i was hoping apples rates was also valid with att but i guess im gonna have to stand in apple's lines with that guy...:(

What if I already have an account with AT&T - the wife uses the phone - my phone is at T-Mobile.

I want to move my t-Mobile number to AT&T, but I'm not a new customer. Should I go through the new customer set up? Doesn't seem like they give you the port option if you are an existing customer and just want to add a line.

Edit: Whoops misread it :)

what about if i dont want to use those iPhone plans? I noticed that it said you could use other at&t's service plans. i didnt see a button for that in the activation movie. any thoughts??

looks good.....

I like the guy in the ad - he is clear and concise.
The rates are very good - if these become available in Canada, the iPhone will destroy other phone/contracts.
1350 for $100? That is way better than my current top of the line plan with Rogers, whch is about $165 for 1000 and NO data!

Is unocking possible? Someone will do it. I also believe that legally Apple has to offer unlocking - will the phone work with other networks?

Its early in the game, but it looks very good - tight integration is a bit iffy with ATT's spying record, but then if you are conscious of that, you wont be using the iPhone for any stuff you dont want the CIA to know about - thats why they make cheap pay as you go phones, isnt it?

I would be happier if it was available as an unlocked phone, sync, drop your sim card in and go - I cant see why visual voicemail needs to be part of data.

No mention of wifi surfing at free wifi networks - this worries me too......

Get pre-approved for iPhone

For those of you who want to get pre-approved for the iPhone (or you're worried about your credit), take the following steps:

1. Call AT&T at 1-888-333-6651.
2. Choose option 3 for new service, and then 3 again.
3. Tell them you're interested in buying the iPhone and want to get pre-approved. They'll ask for your SSN, ID, address, etc. They'll run a credit check and let you know if you're approved or not.
4. Be sure to ask for a BAN number before you hang up. This BAN number is good for 30 days.
5. After buying your iPhone on Friday, enter the BAN number in the "pre-approved credit check code" field during activation.

Just one less thing to worry about. :)

Alternatively, if you are not worried about credit at all...you can just buy it in store with out a HASSLE no matter who you are...go home...run the credit check with your social at time of activation....

RIGHT? Somebody just please confirm this

Once iPhone is activated, users can then easily sync all of their phone numbers and other contact information, calendars, email accounts, web browser bookmarks, music, photos, podcasts, TV shows and movies just like they do when they sync their iPods with iTunes.

As some of us have speculated -- the iPhone will be crippled/useless until you chain yourself to an expensive 2-year contract with AT&T. I was hoping that I could buy an iPhone, not activate it, and just use the WiFi to access the Internet.

Too bad. :(

Yeah, i signed up for FreeCreditReport.com's free credit check...my credit score is a 789 out of 830, and in the "Excellent" category. So, i'm not worried. I'll just buy it normally and pay with my credit card when i get home.

HA! Apple is taking ATT out of the loop completely. Its like an MVNO but keeping ATTs name.

Yes, I don't think this has gotten enough attention. Apple wants to keep a close relationship with the customer and has pretty much squeezed AT&T out of the picture.

Which means if your credit isn't great, you can still be the one at the store to buy the phone, take it home, and have your credit superior (spouse, parent, etc..) sign up for service in their name?
