Sound problems

2 things I've noticed since 2.1 update

1) the keyboard click sound and the sent mail sound fizzes out occassionally
2) the color black on my pics are not as smooth as before

Anyone else noticed these?

Thanks

google maps crashing

My google maps tends to crash, and also makes the phone crash, so I'd have to reset it (home + on/off button). It has happent twice today with EDGE, and once with wi fi a week ago.

Is there anything to do to fix this?

annoying keyboard glitch

it's so annoying for me try typing the word school like this "skool" you will get "skopl" no matter how precise u hit the letter .. Even worse when you type the second O instead of the O key enlarging the letter P does.. But do not let go drag your finger and try to select the letter O... It SKIPS IT!!! Others can u confirm same results?

iPhone seems to be restarting itself...

After I installed the last update my iPhone began randomly restarting itself... or something of the like.

When I hit the home screen button when the screen is on standby SOMETIMES the screen looks like it is cutting out and then goes black, then the apple startup symbol comes on and it takes time to restart like it would if it had just been powered on. But instead of going to the home screen like you would expect it to after powering it on, it goes to the screen with the wallpaper and the slide to unlock.

I did install a couple various apps after the update as well, myspace, facebook and idoodle lite, but that's it! I need help, this is very frustrating when I just want to make a call or send a text in a hurry.

If it helps, I have the original version of the iphone... not 3G

Confirmed. Only with "skool"

I also updated to itunes 8, sorrry I did or maybe I could downgrade. I have come to realize that I am actually being limited to the number of apps on my phone, and no, I have plenty of hard disc space available on it. I purchased the phone last December, I guess it is a 1st generation, not a 3G. Now my phone calls suddenly disconnect, the phone won't turn on at times, can't download on the go anymore, it tells me I have to connnect to my computer, my bluetooth is having problems. I have read everything in the Apple website and done it all. to no avail. READY TO PULL MY HAIR OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Voicemail screen bug

So, at the voicemail screen, hold your thumb over the upper left corner of the Iphone. (ie... like pinching the upper left like to hold onto the Iphone.) On two of my phones the screen goes completely blank??? Even after a restart. Just need more verification from more.

Also, is it just me, or is the batterly life wacked now. 3g is great, but if swapping over to wireless, it seems to kill quicker than before the 2.1 update. Also I for one didnt do any complaining about the original 3g connectivity issues, but now after the 2.1, I can have full bars, and get flat dropped calls. Often times now, I also make a call, get 2 rings, and plop goes the call?

I've had a weird bug and it could get annoying. Sometimes when i'm receiving a call, i slide to answer, and the screen still says that it's still calling me. My phone is still vibrating, and it won't stop. I hit the sleep/home button and it still vibrates. After a minute or so it becomes a missed call. It becomes a problem when that person is calling you for directions and you need to pick up or they will get lost.

Yes, this happens for me also. I have been going crazy the past couple of weeks thinking that may phone hardware was going. I was about to bring my phone to the apple store.

But, I just figured out yesterday that any time I am using the phone to make a call, look at the voicemail list or listen to voicemail -- if I touch any part of the black area at the top of the phone the screen will go blank. As soon as I uncover or stop touching it comes back on. E.g.: you bring the phone to your ear and the screen goes blank and then flicks back on when you pull it away from your head.

The past couple weeks I've been on the phone (no headset) then needed to enter something on the keypad, but when I brought my phone away from my ear to enter something it would be blank and then flicker on. I guess I would touch the black area at the top of the screen randomly and make it go on and off without knowing what I was doing while trying to enter the info I needed during a phone call. Needless to say I have been cursing at my phone! I thought the phone screen was going south with all the blinking on/off.

Apparently this is supposed to be a feature. Apple thinks that if we are talking on the phone they can conserve power by turning off the screen until you bring the phone away from your head to use the screen again.

screen going "black"

Upper left, Hhmmmm! As I take my 3g 16 gig away from my ear, the screen comes up for a second, then goes black; put it near my ear and it comes up! Attempt to look at it (take it away from my ear) it goes black again. The home button becomes completely non-functional. Only the sleep, wake, on off will do anything. Usually, as yours, you loose or never are able to answer the call!

iPhone Completely FUBAR

My iPhone is so buggy it is basically unusable. I have the original 8GB iPhone. Here are the bugs that I am experiencing:

1. Random crashes - everyday. On average 2x per day.

2. Interface freezes during calls. I'll be on the phone and the interface just freezes. I can still talk to the person but no buttons work and the clock, call timer, etc. freeze. If I am leaving a message I can't hang up so they get a 4min message from me. The only way I can disconnect is a hard reset (i.e. hold down startup/shutdown button and home button simultaneously for 15sec.).

3. Delete key sticks. Sometimes when I am writing an e-mail and I hit delete it just keeps deleting as if I am holding it down. On a number of occasions this has deleted my entire e-mail and I have to re-write it.

4. Shows "This message has not been downloaded from the server" even though I know it has because I have already read it. The "Download the rest of this message" button at the bottom shows 0k to download, yet it never loads.

5. Battery life is significantly decreased. Due to speaker interference I can tell how much radiation it is emitting (communicating with tower via radio waves). In v1 of the OS it communicated periodically. Once every couple mins or so. Now it is constant. Therefore, it must be recharged every 4 or 5 hours.

I also have other problems such as it not downloading e-mail and reseting to the home screen when I am in another app e.g. Contacts or Mail. I can live with those minor issues, but as a phone that I trust for business and safety it must be replaced if I can't find a fix to these problems.

As an aside I purchased the 3G and experienced many of the same problems. It crashed over and over. I took it to the Apple store and it crashed twice while the manager was looking at it. They replaced it with a new one and it had many of the same problems. Luckily I hadn't sold my old iPhone yet. I returned the 3G (which made me very unhappy since I was really looking forward to having one) and went back to my old iPhone. This, only to find out it was the software all along.

My iPhone worked almost flawlessly when I first got it - like a phone should. This latest update reminds me of Mac OS 8 which crashed multiple times per day. However, this is a device that is essential to my safety and I cannot rely on it. Unless I can figure out why this is happening I must replace it with a normal phone like a Razor or whatever.

3g 16 gig identical!

Every single "bug" is ID with my 3g 16 gig. 5 days old I returned it 2 Best Buy and got a newer one in exchange. I know it was newer it that it took 8 minutes to download software 1.2 upgrade and 5 minutes to install. In the original phone it took 18 minutes to download and 15 to install. Didn't make a difference, the freezes, the crashes, dropped calls (even on 5 bars and 3g), loosing control while dialing or mid call, all the same. Of course Apple denies not only that it exists, but NO ONE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT "SIMILAR ISSUES." mdcosmetics

Yes, confirmed.

I never knew the keyboard had any issues until now, and that's the most annoying thing EVER......lol.

DNS bug is STILL a problem in iPhone 3G 2.1

You would think. I just got an iPhone 3G with 2.1 firmware yesterday (November 9th, 2008), and ran into exactly the same problem. Tried to access a website whose first DNS server was failing, and the iPhone refused to connect, kept erroring, even though a normal computer connected fine because it (instantly - no delay at all) failed back to the second DNS server, which was up and available.

Maddening.

Why wouldn't iPhone skip the DNS that was failing and move onto the 2nd DNS? Why wouldn't the router's DNS function on iPhone? Seems like an issue worthy of Apple's attention.

1. Iphone in ipod mode
Pause ipod
Remove headphones
Ipod randomly starts playing first song in alphabetical order through the external speaker.

2. Iphone in ipod mode. Screen locked, hit the home button and unlock and phone opens randomly at your recent phone activity screen?

Keyboard keys deactivated when certain strings are entered

Confirmed. Only with "skool"

Also happens with "frobo" on the second 'o' (won't let you type 'j', 'u', or 'e' either) and "travian" on the second 'a' (but only when screen is in portrait mode).

letter L syndrome

Open Safari and go to Google/m or Yahoo home page, in the Search field, type the first letter as "L" follow by any othr letters including letter L, many times, you will be able to enter all the letters including letter L but letter L may not pop back to you. Once it (the letter L) is not popping back to you, it will never pop back to you anymore until you change web page. I encountered but only one time for letter I and T as well, but letter L is the most frequent one.

Not sure is a bug or problem with my iPhone 3G 2.2. But this problem never happens on Notes, SMS, etc.

I've only had my iPhone for 3 days, and have experienced nothing but problems.

1 Time - Black Screen of Death

3 Times - White screen of Death

Network wont switch over to 2G when 3G signal is low or not at all.
Callers get dropped, not even a voicemail option.

Phone locks up in sleep mode.

I've had to bring it to instore for a reset, and have to constantly reset it myself.

The phone came with 2.1 and itunes updated to 2.2 - wish I had read more before that!

Is there any fix in sight for this ? I'll give it another week, then its going back.

My razor worked better than this phone! It's more of a retarded PDA than a phone.

Who is starting the class action lawsuit against apple. Put me on the list!

death of 3 g iphone

If you bought a letter belt clip "incase" with your phone, you are in luck. My "3" replaced iphones all did what you are describing, and it was the leather case which was solid at the top blocking all the "SENSORS". No one at best buy or this blog could explain it. The second I walked into an apple store, I was told, the case was what was causing all the problems. The second I discarded it, the phone starting working perfectly.

Slider doesn't work

when someone calls me i can't answer the call by dragging the slider after updating to 2.2

for some reason it seems to answer the call if i first press the volume down button and then slide my finger across the slider, although the slider animation don't show.

2.2 screwed up the phone and internet part of my iPhone, I cant connect to WiFi networks for more than 10 minutes without the iPhone forgetting the network exists and requiring a restart to get it connected again... It also stops connecting to the phone networks properly requiring me to turn Airplane Mode off and on again to get it to work properly (no, this fix dosent work on the WiFi problems).

So, I have a £350 phone and dosent work as a phone half the time!
