I also have this problem and it's driving me nuts! At first I thought that it will be the carrier's fault.. but apparently not. Also.. this is happening from time to time, but on a daily basis though, independent on the area I'm in.
Will this be a good reason for getting the iPhone replaced? Is it really worth replacing it, I heard when replacing you get a refurbished one...

Two bugs under v3.0
Hi folks, I have two bugs to report under iPhone v3, original 8Gb version (NON 3G).
First the keyboard tap and also the lock/unlock sounds disappear after about 30 minutes. I can reset the phone, all is well, but they consistently disappear every time.
Second I noticed there is no "iPhone" number type as an option when you edit a contact. There is on the 3G version.

hey,
try sending en sms to more then one people, normally it should form a group-SMS but instead it makes a group-MMS. so I believe this is a huge bug!

solution to the SMS-MMS problem!!
Settings --> Messages --> MMS Messaging -->
ON:
Start a new message, send to multiple recipients, message is sent as MMS (note top of message window will say 'New Group MMS').
OFF:
Start a new message, send to multiple recipients, message is sent as SMS (note top of message window will say 'New Message').

After upgrading to 3.0, I haven't been able to log into iTunes to download application updates or applications through the iPhone. It keeps giving me the error that the password I entered was incorrect. When trying to use iforgot to reset it, it tells me my ID doesn't exist. I can log into iTunes fine on my mac. The funny thing is that when I plug my iPhone into my mac and log into iTunes on my iPhone when it is plugged in, it will work! But upon unplugging it, it goes back to not working on the iPhone. This only happens when using my aol account as my iTunes store account. It has worked in the past until 3.0. It happens not only to me, but to two other people that I know.

I can temp fix it by syncing with iTunes on my computer, but the problem pops up again.

Did you find a resolution? I'm also having mail crash every time I open it. I have a second gen iphone and updated the software this morning, but now mail crashes.
I am having troubles with my phone switching to landscape mode. Sometimes it does it right away when I rotate my phone and sometimes I have to rotate it a few times. I have a 3 day old 3GS. Anyone else have this problem??
Is Exchange the problem?
I had this problem. In my case I think it's caused by the way OS 3.O handles Exchange, example, such as additional info OS3 attempts to draws in when to re-synch previously entries such as calendar entries without catagories (business, private) etc
I came to this conclusion after sliding all my mail accounts to Inactive in Settings. I then recreated my exchage account - calling it Exchange 2 in discription so that it can be identified over previous inactive accouts. Note, it gives an option to keep or delete existing contacts & calendar entries already on iPhone. In my case I decided to delete all these entries to avoid massive duplication in my contacts and calendar. The new exchange acc appears to work. I then reactivated other mail accounts (excl previous exchange acc that I have now deleted) and these accounts have returned to working without crashing entire mail prog.
Even if you don't use exchange try recreating your accounts anyway. Let me know how u got on

i am having the same problem...
it was working fine initially, but last couple of days ...its not consistent with the landscape mode. works sometimes...doesnt work most of the times.

Recent Calls
Has anyone else notice when you are on the recent calls screen then return to the home screen then go back to the phone app, a call is placed to random number in your call log it only last about two seconds then it flashes back to the recent calls. I was able to get a screen shot which I will attach and it looks like a regular call. If you have seen it have you found a fix?

Problem with this approach is that no MMS can actually come in unless it is switched on. Stoopid I know.
A slightly different solution we found was to use the (+) icon in the address bar and select the names rather than typing their names in. For some reason the message is not switched to "Group MMS" and seems to claim to still be a Group SMS. Of course, you need to check your bill to verify (which I will do next month).

if i can remember correctly at some point i saw a menu or something somewhere on the phone where i could show only photos, only videos and both somewhere on the phone, but now i can't seem to find where this was...

iPhone 3GS Video Trimming Bug
My iPhone 3GS overtrims the front of every videoclip I trim. The trim preview is not WYSIWYG!!
Easy to reproduce: Just trim the front and back end of any clip. Preview the edit by pressing the play button. (Note the exact point in the action where the trimmed clip will start and stop.) Then hit the 'trim" button. Notice that the finished trim front edit point is trimmed much closer to the middle of the clip than what you selected. The end trim seems fine.
Having no "shake to undo" option is not a problem for me if the trim preview is accurate. But it's not. Trying to blindly guess how much to under-trim the front of a clip to compensate for this error is unacceptable.

Lock screen during a call
I skimmed through the thread to see if this was posted but didn't see it. Sometimes when im receiving an incoming call the screen will fall asleep while the phone is still ringing, and you have to hit the home button then the answer button. Not a big deal but kind of annoying.

Bug in Contacts
I realized today that I'm missing a few contacts in my iPhone.
According to the phone, I have 105 contacts. According to address book on my Mac, I have 115.
I'm not noticing any other sync issues. Any ideas?

Found this one by accident yesterday. Go under the iPod and hit play, then skip to the next track, then tap Previous and Next together at the same time.

indeed, just checked and it does some strange things
. music sounds very weird if you ask me.When you do that, you can't pause your music anymore so the Ipod keeps running. But you can select another song and then it plays normal and then you can again hit the pause button.

I know that this is still a very annoying bug if you ask me. I want to receive MMS and then I turn it on, but then I forget to turn it back of and in the meanwhile I have send a message to my basketball team (10 persons) and so I have send them 10 MMS instead of the free SMS I can send.
Really hope that they are going to do something about this in the next update instead of adding things.
But in general I am very pleased with the phone
Found an issue if you have the voiceover turned on for misspelled words. When typing an email if you misspell a few words the volume will turn down for a bit, then turn back up (keyclicks). I think it has to do when there is a misspelled word and it does not speak it or you don't give it time to speak it. The volume will stay turned down until the same thing happens again.

Can not put pictures on my contact list any longer
Hello. I just upgraded to the 3.0.1 version on my iPhone and I can no longer save pictures to my contact list as I used to do. It still shows the pictures i saved before but will not allow me to save any new ones. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks for your help.
