I was checking yesterday multiple times and didn't work for me either, until this morning. Guess it's just a matter of time
This is how I found it:
—Go to the UPS site
—Enter in any number for the tracking number
—It will fail to find your random number, and will give you other links, among them a link to track by reference number
—There you enter in your phone number, country of destination and zip code.
if it finds it, it will also give you the tracking number. Give it a try!
You can try the phone number you used when you ordered, only the numbers, no spaces.
I pre-ordered via AT&T Premier (business), and my status shows "In Progress".
My latest update is departed Incheon, Korea. But that's okay because I sorta regret ordering the red version so I put an order in of a white one for pickup at Best Buy.
17th, literally 8 minutes past launch Time, so 13.08pm. It launched in the UK at 1pm.
Update: Found the order email on Gmail. 13.04pm 17/04
You will more than likely get a dispatch email tomorrow or thursday, generally they tend to use a next day Courier for releases such as DPD.
The iPad Pro I ordered recently came via UPS, not sure if they use both still, or different couriers depending on where they are being sent from?

Tried it with and without country code. With two zeros in front and with the plus sign.
The Apple website still says preparing to ship for me also. When I did the tracking by reference number it shows it going from China to South Korea to Alaska. Now it’s in Kentucky. It still says it will be here on the 24th.
Last week I ordered a cable from Apple and it came from Tennessee. The Apple site was slow to update I had to go and look up by tracking number to get better results.

Mine too, plus UPS MyChoice finally does not say “tentative” for delivery estimate. 😀
