That's a crazy nice case, I might get for my dad. He loves baseball.
Yeah, I was on a birthday trip to Cooperstown and I saw it in their store and loved it! Supposedly it ages like a baseball does too: will make me less nervous about damaging it.

I haven’t gotten an email and it still shows in my account as “preparing to ship,” but I have UPS MyChoice Premium and it showed up in there as departed from Kunshan, China.

The astonishing part is that mine is already in the US, but Apple Store still shows my order as Preparing for Shipment LMAO

What a useless system.

I am glad I loaded the UPS app. I also used a SlickDeals code for uPS premium for $15.00 for the year. My order popped up on the app not long ago. And like you, Apple still shows as preparing to ship.

In the absence of their host, viruses are unable to replicate and many are unable to survive for long in the extracellular environment. Therefore, if they cannot survive independently, can they be defined as being ‘alive’?

you pose an interesting point. thanks. it got me thinking.

i would liken a virus (a virus that is a piece of RNA; which is just a piece of information with pre-coded instructions) to being "live", but not "alive".

its like a bomb that is set to go off if certain conditions are met (time, touch, etc). those are the bomb's instructions to "do something".
that's why we can say a bomb is a "live bomb". but not "alive".
the preprogrammed instruction set of a virus is to "latch onto something living, and replicate". its "live", but not "alive".

a bomb might be "live" for virtually forever, waiting to fulfil its instructions, what it was intended to do.
it seems any virus is "live" for only a certain amount of time however. this new corona virus for up to 72 hours or so, depending on what surface it is on. there are some other virus that are "live" waiting to fulfil their instruction set for up to two years.

i have ordered the 256GB white.

What are the actual chances of infection from an iPhone SE that was manufactured in China?

1 in 1 million?

Has anyone in Aus (or not US based) managed to track on UPS by reference? I've tried with my phone number but no luck.

Do UPS still provide estimated delivery time too?

No to a delivery time. I had a UPS delivery yesterday and mine are late in the day yet tracking is updated to out for delivery as soon as the van is loaded, I.e in my case before 5am!

wow!! the paranoia related to the virus here is just ridiculous.
It’s really difficult to balance caution and sanity. I’m part of the population at risk for really bad outcomes from the virus. I’ve been self-isolating for five and a half weeks now. If I slip up and catch it just for lack of going the extra mile like this, then what has all this been for then?

Mine has evidently been shipped. I haven’t received definitive word that mine has been delayed, but the UPS app does list it as an “exception” and “date tentative.”

I also think that this is a good question as the iPhones are coming directly from China.

My phone left Shanghai and just arrived in Incheon. My assumption it should still arrive to me by Friday, the 24th. I suspect UPS is alerting us about a possible delay due to COVID-19.

That part doesn't bother me. Either the phone was manufactured during the time period when China was greatly affected by the virus (and has been sitting in a warehouse since then and thus is very unlikely to be infected itself by now) or it was recently manufactured and probably hasn't been exposed to the virus at all in China. I'd be more concerned about package handling while in transit. I don't expect too much of a hassle to wipe down the plastic wrapping and throw it away before bringing the box inside.

Ordered 256GB white about 50 minutes after the launch time (ordered from Canada). Finally able to find the shipment info from UPS site, only Origin Scan in Kunshan so far. No updates on Apple, still "preparing to ship" with Apr 24th as the delivery date.

Exactly my situation, too. Ordered from US.

how are you finding the shipment info without a tracking number?

UPS as track by reference. You can typically find stuff using your number and such hence the by reference. I had luck with previous iPhones but not this time around.
