Sorry if this has already been pointed out, but:

399 USD = approximately 100 GBP less than the base model is actually costing in the UK :(

20% VAT.

I actually import Blu-rays from Amazon UK since even with shipping to US, they still end up cheaper after removing VAT.
 
So what does this do to iPhone 8 prices? There is absolutely nothing better about the 8 than the new se. I wouldn’t pay more than $275 for a new 8 right now.

I’m really curious about the 5,4 inch oled iphone battery life... if it’s going to be even smaller
 
Didn't notice it earlier but this makes me feel a bit better about upgrading and makes the color choice easier. 🙂

First time I won't have Space Gray/Black iPhone. 😅

Mmmm nah you were pretty adamant that Apple wouldn’t make such a poor decision about the camera choices And that it would be a full 11 series camera. Also it remains to be seen how much of a “hybrid” this is. We will see in the reviews.
 
Anyone done a trade in when ordering directly from Apple online? I’d want to hold on to my old phone until I’m sure the new one works.
 
Wow, I just noticed that they discontinued the 8+ as well. I really thought they’d keep selling it until the SE Plus came out. Maybe I’m being optimistic, but the fact that they ditched it now makes me think the Plus model could be coming sooner than later.

Battery
Battery looks to be the same size, or smaller than the 8 but with the A13 processor so it is going to give similar battery life, however it's worth noting that this device was optimised to run the latest iOS. So for the older devices that have seen battery life decrease with updates, it will still likely be a big improvement for them and adequate for most people.
It will not come with an 18w fast charger, although it will be supported.

Camera
It would appear that the setup is the same as that of the XR (sort of, see below). However, with the advances that the A13 brought, computational photography from this device should be improved from that found on the XR.
There is no night mode, however this could be added in the future if Apple allow it with a software update, or maybe a version of it for this device that is still useful but perhaps not as advanced as the current flagships from that time.
It will only allow portrait mode of people, the same as the XR. That is for both front and rear camera. Again, the portrait mode should be further improved upon from that found on the XR.

Rene Ritchie has said in his video, where I am guessing he's been provided some information from Apple, that it's actually the 11 main lens, but with a few disadvantages such as night mode is missing, but the other areas should be really detailed and sharp with the A13 chip and the lens fitted.

Apps such as Neural Cam will also aid night shots for anyone interested who's not used the app in the past. It's not as good as Apple's night photography - but it's as close as anyone has got building an app.

Bezels
I still see people asking, but all bezels for this device are black. The white front is no longer an option, and I think this gives the device a cleaner look, reduces production costs, aids repair availability etc.

Prices
Those of us in the UK complaining that the exchange rate is giving us a really bad deal, it's worth remembering that the US price does not include sales tax.

Cases
Apple have three new cases available for the new SE. They are available to buy now in the Apple Store.
All existing Apple cases from the 7 and 8 will also fit the new device, no word yet on the Battery case however I cannot see any reason it won't work or fit.

Dual Sim
Yes, it has dual sim, although like the other iPhones that have it, the second sim is an e-sim option. But still, another unexpected feature.

Modem
Obviously this will be confirmed or shot down once the device strip downs take place, but it's looking more likely that the modem on the new SE is an Intel chip. It does however support WiFi 6 4G LTE advanced, an advantage to those with an older device.

Thanks. I suppose we have to wait for tear down to confirm RAM? Is there already speculation on the amount?
 
Looks really good at a great price. Way too small for me personally but I know there are people who love compact devices and are going to jump all over this. Happy for them.
 
Is there any info about durability? Will the SE has glass from the iPhone 8, or will it be update to be closer 11 with durability?

Should be 3GB minimum. Even the $329 iPad has that much.

I dunno if the RAM is embedded in the chipset. If it is, Apple may just go for same amount of RAM as iPhone 11 for bulk discount.

Where did you see that they discounted the 8 plus? They took both 8s off the website on Apple.com

If you trade in your current phone on a new one, you should get your old one back if you return it. That’s how it worked for me when I returned my 11, they sent my 8+ back.

Two reasons:

1. The recent iOS14 leak mentioned a new 5.5” model.
2. Jon Prosser has a great track record (Especially after getting today’s SE launch correct), and he’s kept insisting that a Plus model does exist, but is just delayed.

Based on info on apples website it’s closer to the 11 lens. Be sure to come back to me once they’ve done the tear down videos. If I’m wrong I’m wrong and I’ll apologise. Either way it’s going to be a great camera for the money.
