Ok I’ll still say it, looks more likely to be the 11 than XR lens. Based on info on apples website. Be sure to come back to me once they’ve done the tear down videos. If I’m wrong I’m wrong. Either way it’s going to be a great camera for the money.

If it has the iPhone 11 lens/sensor, then Night Mode would be available, period.

Night Mode requires 100% Focus Pixels on the sensor, which is only available on iPhone 11.

The SE2 is a low-cost iPhone. Apple is not about to do a custom sensor for a low-volume product and then deliberately leave out Night Mode. It makes no sense from a Tim Cook $ perspective.

I don’t know why everyone seems to be arguing with me, I don’t care what it has.

Does 100% Focus pixel not require two camera lenses? Plus there’s also the fact that Apple may have just disabled it to keep it as a 11 / Pro feature. Until there’s a tear down, none of us know. I trust Rene Richie’s information. He has contacts within Apple and is a trusted reviewer by Apple.

i am hoping this has a qualcomm modem but if it does have intels ****** modems i hope despite the fact that this SE has Gigabit LTE that it has the same one as the 11 series, not the one in the XR (which recently got criticism)

I would love to make a thread, but it doesn’t make sense now.

How come the lack of 3D touch didn’t make way for a better battery life? How could they not improve this aspect? They technically freed up some space in there. I remember my SE slays my 6s and almost the 6s+ in the battery department!

All he is saying is XR lens with iPhone 11 ISP. The ISP is A13.

Maybe other bits took up the free space like the modem or camera tech?

Apple is only offering $250 for trade in for an 8+. If I want to move from my 8+ to the se, it is definitely worth it to sell my 8+ on swappa.

the battery life is of the old SE what made it boost its sales
The old se never got exceptional battery life. People used to say you don’t need any more than the 6+/7+/8+, and those phones are very lacking now compared to the competition. Too many people equate very good standby drain with good battery life. Actually picking up the phone and using it for 3 hours in a row will decimate any iPhone before the XR/xs Max. We thought the se and 7+ were amazing, but it was just due to how bad the smaller 6/6s/7 really were. Apple finally nailed it with the pro. It’s a shame it uses pwm for people like me who are sensitive to it.

Anyone done a trade in when ordering directly from Apple online? I’d want to hold on to my old phone until I’m sure the new one works.

Yeah. I think they give you a couple of weeks to send in the old phone.

I could be wrong, but I think on iOS 9 and maybe even 10, SE got battery life in between 6s and 6s+ but nearing 6s+ which I thought was impressive for its time

How are 4.0" diehards feeling about this release? Going to keep riding out the Se1?

did you use one?

was using the bigger fone 6s, and it got lost, so bought the SE for a bargain, and it got 6 to 7 hours screen on time of LTE
with the 6s plus it was only 5 to 6 hours of screen on time of LTE.

talking about screen on time NOT standby drain or whatever.

Got the first SE in April 2016 and it had amazing battery life with iOS 9 and iOS 10. But iOS 11 "killed" the battery (and it never recovered; had the battery exchanged 1,5 years ago, didn't help much). Because of the abysmal battery performance of the SE I'm looking for a new iPhone, can't decide between the 2020 SE and the iPhone XS (which here is "just" 180 Euros more expensive than the 2020 SE). Prefer the smaller form factor of the 2016 SE, but what can you do...

My mom used to be a 4" die-hard. Then she encountered a situation where my dad's iPhone 11 had internet while her iPhone SE didn't and they desperately needed to get an Uber to catch their flight. Uber app was installed on mom's SE but not on dad's 11. Made her super stressed and panicked.

After they came back from that trip, she told me she was ready to upgrade to the 7/8 size so I'm upgrading her to the SE 2. 😅

It's not glamorous and usually something you have to hunt in the tech specs but LTE bands matter.

Yeah, staying with 4” SE. I wanted to get excited for this new SE, but I just couldn’t. Need the 4” screen. My thumb can’t manage any bigger. Gonna ride it out as long as I can and hope against hope for a better option in the future. The rumored 5.4” would also have too big of a screen for my thumb.

So she really just wanted the extra LTE bands? She would have still preferred 4” phone if she could?

I’m very curious what this does to 8 prices on swappa. A 256gb 8 for $250 would probably sway me over a 128gb se.

Totally on board for the real Home button and Touch ID!

If it had a headphone jack, it'd be perfect. ;)

It's more like she needed a phone whose internet over cellular actually worked. The iPhone SE was missing Band 7 and 41 so she pretty much had no internet when there was no wi-fi for the entirety of their vacation.

But yes, she would've stayed with 4" if that was still an option.

a11 ---> a13 chip, yet 0% difference in battery life. so these "new efficient chips" have been a marketing scam the entire time?
Not entirely true.
Although the power consumption of the new chip is lower when at the same performance, the upper limit in performance is also increased.

I don’t care about cameras at all, but battery life is #1. This is a letdown for sure, but Apple battery case support could salvage it for me.
So the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case may be used on the new iPhone SE!
