Just curious.
I just ordered an iPhone XR 64G for 500 USD...
Is it wise to wait until iPhone 9/SE's debut to open the XR? Or XR is still a good overall package?
(Considering the leaks, the 9/SE will be A13+XR Cam+iPhone 8 Body)

Did you order it direct from Apple? If so, you can still use it and return within 14 days without any damage etc.

If you bought it elsewhere and aren't sure, wait for the reviews and specs of the new SE and then decide if the full screen larger display is worth more to you than the other aspects. The XR is still going to be as reliable, fast and smooth as even the 11 models, just depends on your usage, and what you want from the phone.

I am in China and I ordered it from JD.com, they offer 7 days no excuse return policy as long as you don't activate the phone, the phone is still on its way so I guess I have a plenty of room to maneuver.

If the 9/SE offers a XR grade camera, or even better with Night Mode, and the whole package price is on par with the XR deal I currently ordered, I might consider a switch, but it will take another week to get the phone...

I suspect at the latest, 3PM Eastern time today we should see this launch, at the latest tomorrow. If not, the next week would be the only projection left that I could see Apple possibly waiting for.

I understand your point, but 699 is 75% more money than 399 and are totally different devices. Even having both at 699, a lot of people would choose the SE because of its size.

The main camera of the 11 / 11Pro is going to be old in 5 month.

I have the 11 Pro, and I´m ready to go down to the SE/9, but if the camera is the one on the XR I will go with the 8 and wait for the 5,4, if it happens.

But hey... Apple can always give surprises, maybe we´ll see a 32 gb version 😂
I tend to be in agreement with you. While I'd love a high-end small iPhone with the best camera (and ideally more than one of them), it sounds like Apple is appealing more to the "budget" crowd with this phone, to the point of possibly even cutting the price below the currently-still-sold iPhone 8 (though, I'm skeptical of the price cut, too).

So, at this point, I'm not expecting the greatest camera. The question I have, then, is just how good/bad is the XR's camera? I'd love to see a website that shows the same photos taken with an iPhone SE, XR, XS, and 11 (or similar). Anyone got a link?

For the iphone 6/7/8 user, the XR camera is a good jump.

If you already tasted the one on the 11/11Pro, especially the night mode, it´s not. So in this case, maybe price is the important factor.

If price is not an issue, the 5,4 iPhone would be your way to go, IMO.

Totally different form factors...

Its going to be the same as before. Just like 6S and original SE. This one will get the same main cam as 11/11 Pro and same chip. Thats probably it. That is the most logical thing for Apple to do and historically thats what they have done. If I used your analogy, why would original SE had the same camera as more expensive 6S? So although I understand your thinking I also don't. Few hours to prove it :D

i Won’t deny that makes sense from a media/publicity standpoint. i Just want to see what decision Apple makes and which way they’ll lean per our discussion. Once and if it’s released today (04/15) we can come back here for even more discussion regarding the outcome

Why would you just order it with all the rumours floating around?

Wow what a broad window. It'll happen when Apple wants it to happen!

Well, the most important factor for me is size/weight, after that the camera, then battery life, and then probably Touch ID. I should have included the XS' camera in my list, as that's the most recent/best camera I have some experience with.

According to the following article (if I'm reading this right), the XR has the same lens as the XS' wide-angle lens:

"People are still going to need phones"

People already have phones. This is not going to sell well during this pandemic. Millions have filed for unemployment and the stimulus check coming up is already spent before arrival for a lot of ppl. Again, ppl have their phone in hand already so a new one isn't a necessity. Whatever happened before can't be compared to the situation going on in the world today. Add to that that it looks nearly identical to the iPhone 8 all the way back to the iPhone 6....ppl are not going to buy it like that, it's just not going to happen.

We’d have to define what “sell well during during this pandemic” would mean but I’m doubting this phone will be a failure. I predict some will be shocked at how well this phone sells, especially with stores closed

My wife and I both have an iPhone 6. We didn’t intend to keep them this long but they’ve been pretty functional. I’m pulling the trigger on this new phone immediately. I like tech and all but they’re mostly a necessary appliance to me, and I need a new one.

Same here. I have iPhone 6 and never thought I would keep it this long. However, the 11 Pro etc. doesn't do it for me and with that price tag I felt that I'm buying something that I won't use to the full potential os why wasting that much money. This SE on the other hand sounds like the perfect iPhone in a very long time and I'm super excited. It will be a instant buy for me and to be honest I haven't done instant buy since iPhone 4 (which I even queued up for in the morning) :)
SO yeah, this is awesome :)
