Apple is so bad a storage bump trumps 7s/10th anniversary 8 oled?

Hell no!

Apple leads the market in premium devices. But it lacks strength in a significantly share of market: the people that doesn't want to pay a lot of money for a handset. And this share may represent a lot of money. If you think how much money is necessary to launch such revolutionary devices maybe you could figure it out.
A SE bump may impact less in research and a lot more in profits.
So, for Apple in 2017, after the Samsung failure with Note 7, maybe it's a good shot to bump SE than launch a costly iPhone 8.

The y must just be printing money by claiming 'new' SE and just bumping storage

Like a mini 2 to '3' cash cow bump

This is really just PR SE day haha

But snatch a 64 for the price of a 32 if you can that's what I'd do that's what I heard they're clearing for --399

I love my SE (had it since launch), and yet the small screen is beginning to wear on me. I'm toying with the idea of switching up to a 7;

I'm going to hold out in the hopes that Apple squeezes a 4.5" screen into something about the same size as the SE; or at least significantly less than the 7.
One option is to get an iPad mini 4 to carry around with you as well. Quite usable for the 300g it weighs; and the bonus of carrying two devices is you have two batteries to run down; or you can charge one whist using the other. I was just in hospital for a while and that worked really well as I couldn't easily get up and plug things in.

I don't think we'll ever see a 4.5 inch screen. The iPhone SE 4 inch is such a specific screen size, Apple brought that back for that specific reason, because the consumer wanted a pocketable device. With the new iPhones, I see it as a 4.7 inch, 5.5 inch, and the new OLED 5.8 inch.

A 4.7" without bezels might please everyone (so long as it has a big enough battery, etc). If Apple does nothing, I'll be holding onto a SE for a while.

I think we will see another 4 inch iPhone SE 2 before we will ever see a 4.5 inch display. And I think Apple intended the iPhone SE to be a budget phone, which making a larger screen size would likely increase the costs, which easily is the most attractive feature about the SE, other than the current size.

So I sold my old iPhone last week after putting a new battery in it back in November. My iPhone 6 Plus had served me faithfully since it's launch in September of 2014 but it was time for a new device. I purchased an iPhone SE 64GB new for $384 from TMOBILE. They were having a sale and were selling the phones for the same price as the 16GB models. I wanted Space Grey but they were back ordered so I settled on the Silver since I couldn't go without a phone for 2 weeks.

HOLY CRAP this phone is dope. It's wicked fast and I don't even notice that the screen is so much smaller than the 6 Plus. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 for large screen viewing if needed. I switched to TMO from ATT after they were going to gouge the UDP member for more money. TMO offered a $150 dollar gift card to transfer. When I get the card in 2 weeks I will be leaving TMO for ATT again and getting on their new cheap $60 unlimited plan. The phone is small, comfortable, an lightning fast. I'm very happy.

That is all.

While I couldn't go from a 5.5 inch screen to a 4 inch screen, I'm glad you like your new iPhone.

Ha. This is funny. I may return the SE. While I really like it I was just given an iPhone 6 with a bad battery. I may just replace the battery and not have to spend $384 on the SE.

32gb SE = best bang for buck smartphone currently on the market now. In front of Apple Store right now, no line whatsoever.

Gimme, gimme, gimme!

Agreed. My only complaint is that posting on macrumors on this phone is difficult.

I think one can use tapatalk to make it easier.

I really love the size of the SE. I just got the 128GB space gray today so this little one will be my weekend/night-out/running+gym buddy instead of my jetblack iP7. I also used an iP7+ before but it was too big for me. I hope Apple will release a refresh of SE next year with even better specs.

Considering one got an upgrade from the 5s and considering what that costed them when that one was released and how longed they lived with those specs with those prices ....

I think were near peak specs, peak camera and peak innovation bar gimmicks. E.g., the edged S7 looks good but its a looks gimmick. Dear god don't drop it. I had the non edge S7. Happy back in the Apple camp with the SE.

Been using it for a year. Didn't miss the 6s Plus at all, and it kinda proves my thought that losing 1.5" extra real estate isn't bothering (for me) in screwing my inbox/to-do list/calendar, replying to message threads and browsing reddit/instagram, i.e. what I do 99% of time on my phone.

counting down the days :) payday at the end of the month ill have saved enough for a new iPhone se 32GB can't wait
[doublepost=1491564597][/doublepost]is it worth paying the extra for applecare when i eventually get my iPhone se ?

Yes. 5 years ago I would have said no, but every single Apple product I've purchased since then has needed repairs. Case in point --

I bought a used, 9 month old, 64GB iPhone 5s from someone who took excellent care of it, it was like new, and it came with 3 cases. About a month after I had it (and a month before its original 1 year warranty expired), the flash stopped working. So I took it to an Apple Store and they replaced it with a brand new 5s. I would have bought Apple Care for it at that point, but it wasn't eligible anymore, due to the original purchase date. So I thought I was in good shape. About a year later, an iOS update came out that killed my TouchID. Apple confirmed that's what happened, due to previously undetected defects, but claimed the phone was out of warranty because the original purchase date was over a year old. I explained that this was a brand new phone, and should be covered under the same 1year warranty. The stuck with the technicality. They offered to repair it for $250. Fortunately the SE came out a month later, so I upgraded instead, and bought Apple Care. But that was two new iPhones that failed within a year.

Last year, I bought a new 2012 MacBookPro and 3 months later, the front display glass started to fall out of the lid.

Bottom line, Apple products for me have been dropping in build quality and reliability. Now I may have just been having a streak of bad luck, and you may have better luck, but Apple Care is insurance, and you either roll the dice or you don't. It also offers a few other perks such as inexpensive glass replacements if you break it, and much better treatment at the Genius Bar, and on the phone, despite what they will tell you.

Individual results will vary.
Just because you had a few defects it doesn't mean its the same for everyone out there. Just like with everything mass produced by the millions there will be defective units that pop up. Those defects are usually noticed pretty soon and not many years after. Defects or issues that come up 2-3 years later are usually caused by the user.
I had many iphone 6 and iphone 7's and other iphones in the family.
Last defect I had was about 3-4 years ago when the speaker died on an iPhone 5 and Apple took care of it since it was under original warranty.

Agreed. Which is why I stated that AppleCare is insurance, and you either roll the dice without, or invest in it (with the benefit that it offers other perks as well). Are you suggesting he NOT take Apple Care + because you've only ever had one defect and Apple replaced it under the original 1-year warranty, and the odds are in his favor original defects will almost always show up during that initial warranty period?

The one option available now, which was not available when I had two iPhone 5s fail at the very end of their first year in use, is the ability to buy Apple Care + up to 1 year after purchase, whereas previously it was within 60 days. The other consideration for someone considering Apple Care is whether their credit card offers an extended warranty. I know all of mine offer an additional year on top of the manufacturer's warranty, which gives me 2 years on an original Apple product warranty, or 4 on an Apple Care + covered one.

This is my story almost EXACT, lol. Only difference, I went from an iPhone 6s Plus to the 64GB iPhone SE. Got the same deal and got the Space Grey one ( I may be part of the reason they were on back order ;) ). I also switched from ATT, was on old grandfathered unlimited plan and they were about to add $5 more per line.

No issues with T-mobile and I love the one-handed operation of my SE.
