Agreed. Which is why I stated that AppleCare is insurance, and you either roll the dice without, or invest in it (with the benefit that it offers other perks as well). Are you suggesting he NOT take Apple Care + because you've only ever had one defect and Apple replaced it under the original 1-year warranty, and the odds are in his favor original defects will almost always show up during that initial warranty period?

The one option available now, which was not available when I had two iPhone 5s fail at the very end of their first year in use, is the ability to buy Apple Care + up to 1 year after purchase, whereas previously it was within 60 days. The other consideration for someone considering Apple Care is whether their credit card offers an extended warranty. I know all of mine offer an additional year on top of the manufacturer's warranty, which gives me 2 years on an original Apple product warranty, or 4 on an Apple Care + covered one.

Its a crapshoot but a few years back when the iphone 6 came out I paid for Applecare plus for 3 of our phones and never needed to use any of them. So money was wasted pretty much.
Extended coverage and protection plans are big money makers for manufacturers but if you can judge by your past usage, have a decent case on then chances are you'd be ok without buying the Applecare plus coverage. But that's up to each individual to decide what works best for them.
Also my Citi card offer 2 years on top of the manufacturers coverage so I'll be pretty much covered for 3 years from date of purchase so that's a better and free option;)

I was a skeptic of the SE and very critical upon its release. However, I just ordered a 32gb one AT&T model for $200 + tax, total of $214.

Can anyone tell me if I can get Band 12 LTE to work with T-Mobile once I unlock my new SE? Space Grey is a good color as well. 4k camera, A9 processor, 2gb RAM, Apple Pay, tons of frequent updates, latest apps, Touch ID, iMessaging, FaceTime, sleek design? All in that little body? Should be a nice iOS device, however a tiny 4" screen will take awhile to acclimate towards, especially if I go with the S8 as my future daily driver.

You would need to get a T-Mobile version to get band 12. Unlocking the phone won't change the bands that are built into the radios.

Switched from an iPhone 6S Plus to the iPhone SE. Don't regret my decision at all. I can finally sit without removing my phone from my pocket!

I just wish I got the black one though. Got the Rose Gold one. Don't know what I was thinking. It's just too attractive!

I find the idea fascinating how the Apple Watch 42mm Series 1 will cost me more than the price I paid for my iPhone SE. Should get it sent to me soon. AT&T is really having a killer deal for $200 for a 32gb model. 32gb isn't the most ideal memory capacity with a 4k capable camera, but it's better than 16gb.

I was going to start a new thread but meh. Already replied here but just to add.

I have just returned from a week at the inlaws with wife and kids. My iPhone SE was my ONLY internet device. In the past i brought my MacBook or whatever laptop i had, tablet and phone. The only other device i used was my kindle.

After a week of just using it i felt my iPad was a huge pointless device. Did enjoy my Mac again but thats to be expected.

Last 2 years i had a 5.1" android and got an iPhone 7 on return but decided the SE suited me better. I think as a phone its perfect. Not so clumsy for drops and my thumb reaches all areas of the screen.

Forget SE as a second phone/backup etc as I've read on here. It's good as a main device and possibly only device.

I regret nothing!

Hello, where did you get the ATT se 32GB for 200, thanks

The y must just be printing money by claiming 'new' SE and just bumping storage

Like a mini 2 to '3' cash cow bump

This is really just PR SE day haha

But snatch a 64 for the price of a 32 if you can that's what I'd do that's what I heard they're clearing for --399

I feel the same way. It'd be nice if they could change the hardware even slightly so that you don't look like you're walking around with a 3 year old device.

Hi. AT&T GoPhone has it on sale on their website for $199.99 + tax. No problem.
Curious how would one unlock a prepaid go phone, this would be a great deal if I could figure out how to get it on T-Mobile? Any ideas? It does look like
It's sold out as of today ;(

Sure, you can go ahead and try their AT&T unlocked portal. See if some store can price match it, give a rain check, or maybe the prices will go down online because the market might have to compete with AT&T's price point. They might add more inventory, so it doesn't hurt to check. The point for unlocking this device is to go ahead and use the portal with the IMEI before opening the box because once you turn on the phone with the SIM, it locks for 6 months.

Its pretty expensive to unlock AT&T iphones.
The Boost iphone SE cost me $30 to unlock.
AT&T iphone unlock 3rd party prices currently are around $70.

That's what I did last week. I don't need the 128GB and the 32GB was too little. 64 GB was perfect. Other then the capacity changes, there was no other changes to the "new" SE models released.

I would go through the AT&T Portal since you buy the phone outright through GoPhone for $200 (32gb model) then you can go enter the IMEI and keep the box sealed. After, you go through iTunes for a SIM unlock and take out the GoPhone SIM that comes with the phone. I hope it doesn't cost me to unlock my SE for use with T-Mobile.

You can try it but I'm not sure it will be unlocked that easy.
From AT&T site:

GoPhone devices must be active for at least six months of paid service before unlocking.

That's what they want you to do, but there are ways around it that work for some. Worst case, people are paying up like you mentioned to unlock a device.

Questions for 6S, 6S+, 7, and 7+ former owners:

How rough is the transition from 3D Touch back to a non-3D Touch iPhone? For me, I don't have my SE yet, but I was wondering how different it could be for some features like iMessaging from the lock screen in iOS 10 since I had the 7+ ages ago. Does iOS 10 offer some form of peek and pop on the SE without 3D Touch?

I just wish it had the 2nd gen TouchID sensor. The TouchID login is so unreliable on my iPhone 6 and so amazingly fast on my 2016 MacBook Pro.

The only thing I miss about 3D Touch (iPhone 7) is the bump on settings to quickly switch on mobile data. So I guess that's a no for me. ☺️ Not the end of the world.

The slide to view works from lock screen. Bumping it through is nice but I found the slide option by mistake.

Just did it: Called my provider, which made an incredibly good offer (switching to a better plan and getting more than 30% discount on the new SE 128GB on top of that). Can't stand size and form of the 6s any longer. To be shipped and delivered tomorrow.

I still own and use a 6S and 6S+ everyday along with my SE.

I've never really used 3D touch all that much so really, I don't find it all that hard to use a phone without it. There is no peek and pop from what I can tell. That's also something I've never used on the 6S/6S+. I even forgot they had that built in.
