Some people are willing to pay more for a premium smaller phone as well, except the market is beginning to phase out that option.

Its good for backup/spare device for me.
I wouldnt be able to use it as a daily driver since Im used to the Plus models :)

Agree 100%. While I'm using my 6s+ the majority of the time while in Hawaii, I packed my SE as well for when we go hiking since it still packs a powerful punch (and I'll barely know it's in my pocket).

SE is outdated in my eyes when it was released and seems more outdated iPhone 8 is coming out. I wouldn't buy outdated tech

So this is my question - even when released it was a bit lacking, and now it's over a year old and the price is holding pretty firm (but with more memory).

But it doesn't look like it will continue to be updated in any kind of meaningful way (unless the plan is to keep it comparable with the "older" model - i.e., the iPhone 7 next year once the 8 is introduced), and I would still like the headphone jack . . .

So I'm thinking maybe buy, with the recognition I'm not getting newest tech . . .

"a bit lacking" is really not fair considering the price. If they charged $50 less than the same capacity 6, that would be one thing. But they charged $250 less! I would have paid the same amount of money had it had all of the features. Heck I would have probably paid as much as the 6 to get the smaller screen despite having slightly lower specs. So the decision really can't be made in a vacuum. How important is the size to you? If having a smaller phone is paramount to your needs, then the slight tradeoff in features relative to the cost, certainly more than offsets the fact that it isn't the latest tech.

If this were August, then we might be having a different conversation, as Apple could introduce anything with the next iPhone. However, would you still be interested in a 5"-sized phone if it cost you $800 instead of $400 simply because it had the very latest technology? If it were me, I'd still be taking a long hard look at the $400 SE instead.

Honestly, the 7 is not that much faster than the SE right now. Perhaps that will change in future iterations of iOS, but the SE is a great phone to buy right now for its price... especially if you're nostalgic.

I recently upgraded from a 16GB 6 to a 32GB SE (got a great deal). It's a pretty big upgrade when you factor the SE has double the ram, double the storage and nearly double as fast. The kicker is, the SE supports band 12 so I get slightly better coverage with T Mobile. I don't miss the larger screen much as I don't like the design of the current iPhones and I do nearly everything I can from my Apple Watch.

Not this bizarre attitude again. That Latest and greatest tech tingle down your leg lasts slightly longer than the time it takes to pay your first months bill, if that long.
After using a Iphone plus the SE would feel like a stick of gum in your pocket.

IMO, the bigger phones of the world (7 Plus, S8, etc) are beautiful phones to use for a little while, but this is most practical phone for any situation as a daily driver.

Thinking about after my wife and I's vacation to move from a 5s (hers) and a 6 (mine). To both Iphone SE's. Size isn't a huge deal for me. I am a "Best bang for the buck" kind of person.
I'd love to figure out the whole unlocking from for mentioned threads.

This may be weird to some, but I'd love an SE-esque update of the original iPhone. Imagine the battery they could squeeze into that phone body. Maybe update the screen size to 4" and make it retina. More of just a nostalgia thing, but it could be interesting nonetheless.

After all, it is the 10th anniversary coming up.

I switched from 5s to 6s last year. Then after a few months I thought - why not 6s Plus? I switched to it and I was very happy. There were some situations though, where I struggled with one handed operation (actually on both 6s and 6s Plus). So I gave SE a go. And this phone is the perfect size for me. I don't miss 3d touch. I love that I can operate it with one hand, I love how quickly I can get it out of my pocket and take a picture or video. For me it's the best iPhone ever. I'm hoping there will be a next generation iPhone SE with the same size in future.

iPhone SE is awesome.

I bought my 64GB SE almost two months ago, right after the 128GB model was released. I wanted to get the 64GB model because even though I own a 128GB 6S+, I've never really needed to fill the entire capacity even though I have with music, most of that music is unplayed today.

Anyways, I wanted it, I bought it. I have yet to take it outside of the house and use it as my daily. I'm still using my 6S+ paired with my Apple watches so it is and will be my daily for the foreseeable future.

I do like that it's just as fast as my 6S and 6S+ phones. I can actually do something in one app, open another app and use it and then come back to the first app and it's still where I left it and hasn't refreshed.

Happened to play around with the SE at the apple store. I could not go back to that screen size and screen quality. The screen is dim and ghosty.

The screen quality is one of the biggest downers for me. I don't notice it until I see someone else's 6s or 7. Then difference in quality and contrast is pretty obvious.

I'm hoping (but not betting) that Apple will make a new SE with updated screen tech--along with updated internals--this fall (or maybe Spring 2018). It's not likely, but maybe they'll do it since the SE has been pretty popular and has exceeded Apple's sales expectations.

Then again, it's a $399 iPhone. It's the MacBook Air of the iPhone lineup. So I guess I can't expect too much.

Yup alone the screen is ok, but once you see the 7 screen, especially Plus size you can't go back.

Even an SE screen isn't as archaic as a MacBook Air one

At least it's IPS and a Retina display haha

I went from a 7 to to SE and reallly don't notice the screen difference in terms of quality. Unless you really get your face up close to the screen. It's still a fairly high quality screen and apt for the size.

The build quality and feel in the hand is a breath of fresh air.

Just went 7 -> SE, also. Absolutely love it.
