My only "complaint" is that I like flicking things away so much now that I wish I could flick away in-app things like browser windows too!

This is my X compared to my Plus model. The X is obviously shorter. And you can’t tell from the pic and cases. But the Plus is wider, slightly. Biggest gripe I have is I was hoping for an edge to edge display phone with the same overall dimensions as the plus model.

I really like the CC coming up from the bottom but that’s ok. I can live with it with reachability or even without it. When I use reachability on the home screen, the icons on top don’t move down. In an app, it does.

The control center thing seems awful. Why not at least provide an option to choose which side it opens from so people can choose? Despite being right handed, I always use my phone with my left when using it one handed as I keep it in my left front pocket.

If I could redesign it, I’d reduce the home indicator’s width to that of the former home button and make the regions on either side the swipe zones for Notification Center and Control Center respectively. Apple probably allocated the ears for swipe zones to make them “useful”.

I think I’ll get over all the quirks except the screen size. I had it in my head that without the bevel, I was getting nearly the same screen as the plus. I see now from the earlier discussion here, and elsewhere, that I was mistaken. Once you account for the safe areas and the new aspect ratio, the landscape screen size available for games is a huge downgrade from the plus. I wonder if X-2 will come in two sizes again... maybe they just did one to debut the model. *shrug*

I went into the Apple store this evening and played with the iPhone X. It will definitely take some getting used to and that may be because I'm coming from a 6s. Even playing with the 8+, I wasn't used to the sensitivity of the home button compared to the 6s. On the 6s, you got to press the home button and it clicks. the 8+ is like a tap and then vibrates.

Anyway, while playing with the X, some folks next to me were clueless with the X. So, I showed them how to use the home indicator and they did not like that. They said it was too much work. For me, I can handle it and I like the challenge to adapt to the new iPhone.

I don't see much problem with the size and that's probably because I never had a Plus iPhone.

I’m sure this has been stated somewhere in this thread but besides battery percentage, you can no longer see any other status bar icons either (alarm clock, do not disturb, Bluetooth status) without opening control center.

Wasn’t gonna reply to this thread...tired of the bashing threads. This is (could be) a constructive thread.

1. I would like Apple to (by slider button change) allow a Swipe from the bottom and “HOLD” momentarily so Apps can be deleted without having to press and hold for deletion. Currently you have to swipe...press on the App to expose the “red circle with minus”...then swipe up or tap the minus.

A lot of people complaining about the bezels but I really like them. Im glad I can use a glass screen protector that covers the entire viewable area without any lift.

These are the ones I bought btw:

Really good, perfect fit (over viewable area)

Apple Marketing says the phone is "entirely screen" but there's a notch. Did Apple Engineering fail to meet the Marketing goals or did Marketing just lie in their advertising? The notch simply shouldn't be there as the screen doesn't reach the edges with it. The Marketing bumf is a lie.

I’m looking forward to some of the empty spaces getting used better. Once the Devs start optimizing their apps for the New screen format, things will be great.

My only complaint is the stainless steel bands around the phone. Apple could have went with brushed SS instead of polished, the space gray is fine because it’s dipped in something to harden it and make it appear black. However the silver is a nightmare and will 100% not hold good on wear and tear, brushed would have honestly been perfect. Apple always with the shiny stuff.

Face ID slower than I hoped, often have to conciously hold it closer to my face to work.

Glass back and the sides make it feel like there is a clear case on the phone, which isn’t nice as I’m used to rocking phones naked. I like the exterior of my Matt black 7 better.

Also missing battery percentage.

The only thing I don’t like about the X so far is the fact that not all of my apps have updated to support the X screen so it’s almost like going back to the original iPhone with regards to how the apps show on the screen. Otherwise I absolutely love this phone even coming from the Plus sized phones the last few years. I’m sure the apps will get updated in time, just wish more of them were already there.

Apple should have gotten the wide aspect ratio right. The 4mm loss in reality isn’t all that much but noticeable when side by side. Put the iPhone plus size away and after a few hours you will appreciate the size and not miss it.

I’d say redo the Face ID again. Mine catches my face from far away.

I knew about the battery % but not the data type, that is really not good. Those 2 combined are actually quite huge imo. These are just staples of the status bar of any phone

The data type shows up in my status bar just fine. I am not sure what is going on with OPs phone if they aren’t seeing it.
