Did anyone notice the "haptic feedback" / vibration to be rather weak on the new iPhone X?

I am just curious about my iPhone has a defect or it´s actually normal beeing so faint.

For comparison, if i hold the iphone at the top (upside down) and turn it to silent mode i barely notice the haptic feedback.

I went to Apple Store to try it out before buying it. The phone design is very nice. What was the deal breaker for me is the usable screen size compare to iPhone 7 Plus. This is the first time I’m not upgrading since iPhone 3G.
Every year I either sell my iPhone, and now I lease it with T-Mobile OnDemand to get a the new model. I consume a lot of media on my iPhone and type a lot of documents for work on the go. I can’t imagine using a screen smaller than my iPhone 7 Plus. This was a huge disappointment for me. I am not going to pay that much money for a phone with such a small usable screen size. I wish they made an iPhone X Plus.

Well i bought a iphone 8 as a backup to compare to the iphone 10 when i received it. Face id worried me the most. Being that face id tech is very similar to windows hello and seing my surfacebook with windows hello has problems in a very bright environment i was worried that the florida sun would give it problems.

I was right. It sucks under intense sunlight and even in a very bright room. Walking around disney today face id had more than a few problems. I like the phone other than that. Touch id is better for florida for sure.

The thing I really don’t like right now are the apps not being optimized for the new X model

Yup that’s probably the most annoying bit just now (other than the bloody whiny anti-X brigade) but it’ll come. We’ve seen a few iPhone screen changes now and the main apps usually update pretty quickly.

I really don’t like having Touch ID. Face ID is great but for me Touch ID is better and would use it more because it’s more convenient. Like if I get a text and the phone is in my pocket with Touch ID it’s instant and as I take phone out of my pocket I can activate Touch.

Maybe with a software update they can include Touch ID with no home button? Don’t know.

I still have my 7...

FaceID is superior to TouchID in every way. I can’t believe people don’t see this. I don’t even need to think about where I’m placing a finger. If I get a text notification or anything else. I literally have to swipe on it to open and I’m right there in the app. No need to place a finger over the touch sensor.

It’s incredible.

Things I don’t like = none. It’s fantastic.

If I’m laying on the couch Face ID doesn’t work well sideways or on an angle for me. Touch ID to me is more versatile. I never said in my post that Face ID was bad but I prefer Touch because it’s more versatile. But I do like Face in certain instances.

Y’know what bit of Face ID really impressed me, it wasn’t the unlocking, I knew what to expect there.

It was when I used a website and apps that used passwords and subsequently Touch ID to enter the passwords.

First time I used one of those with Face ID and it just did it instantly, without me having to go to the home button first to authenticate my finger. That was awesome.

I think I will sit this one out. Either I will keep my launch day iPhone 6 or go for a iPhone 8+. Depends upon if there are any Black Friday deals to be had on the iPhone 8 (not by Apple of course, but perhaps by vendors/carriers).

I wanted to like the iPhone X. But that ugly notch is something I will never get used to. And I like my quick TouchID for Apple Pay purchases. My guess is next year there will be a bigger iPhone X-type device available next year. And probably notchless as well. Yes, yes, I know -- I keep hearing Apple "has embraced" the notch. But I bet after awhile they will figure how to make the phones notchless. And will then offer them for sale either next year or the year after.

That's the phone I will be waiting on.

This isn't something waiting to be updated. It's the way it is. In landscape, the notch area can't be used. So the opposite side has to be null due to symmetry.

This is jacked.
Before holding the X I was not interested due to screen width & Notch. I’m a + user.
After testing out the X I was tempted but initial response was screen too small for video and documents.

This post explains so much.
I don’t know if the Notch counts towards 5.8” screen size. It shouldn’t. In addition, these ‘safe’ zones should not count towards 5.8”.

Another thing I noticed was, to my eyes, my 8+ screen wasn’t missing anything compared to the X & my Plus doesn’t get blue shift.

Less & less tempted.

Overall, I'm very happy with the X, its a new generation so there is bound to be some teething issues, but so far (and its extremely early on), I think the X is a solid phone.

The one complaint I do have, at least with using my phone since Friday is FaceID. I'm finding it to be less then consistent in unlocking my phone. I have to try a couple of times, or put in my code. So far it seems TouchID is a more efficient and seamless experience.

For instance on my SE, I only need to press and hold TouchID and the phone unlocks.

With my X, I need to swipe up. Hold the phone to my face, maybe move the phone so to authenticate with my face. Failing that I close and retry or just type in my code. Sometimes the action of moving my phone is sufficient.

So there's two parts of my complaint the need to swipe to unlock, why not just unlock and secondly the inconsistent nature of FaceID.

This isn't enough for me to consider returning it, so far I'm very happy with the purchase.

the battery life is bad
How so?

I'm finding the battery life to be excellent, though I've not really pushed my phone to hard and its been plugged in numerous times throughout the day yesterday

takes forever to charge for me, and doesn't last as long as I'd wish

I'm not having that issue at all, I've charged it on my iMac and from the wall (granted the wall charging is from a larger iPad charger plug).

I don’t have a good overall reason why I would buy the iPhone X at this time for the following reasons, and has anyone wondered why Samsung’s galaxy phones have the following over apples iPhone X and Apple doesn’t ?

IP68 and Apple has an IP67
Headphone jack still
Fingerprint reader on back
Less Bezels
No notch (Samsung does have sensors as well)
More PPI than Apples X
Screen is brighter with more nits
Add to top it off Samsung galaxy cost less

Apple could have these things if they really wanted to, but it perplexes me as to why they don’t. What’s keeping me with Apple is the operating system and also the updated security they provide. Of course not to mention they have good support.

I have said the same thing. That they should have made a bigger phone. Watch out, cause when I said it I was blasted as if I had slapped someone’s mom or something. lmao!
