Touch ID is better than Face ID. Throughout the day I regularly turn on my iPhone to check messages, etc. It's on my desk so I only need to press the button with my thumb. With Face ID I would have to either pick it up or place my face over the phone.

This is not more user friendly.
You'll probably be able to double tap the screen to view notifications.

I'm going to sound like an Apple hater but I really am not. I haven't watched the keynote yet but I read the page they just put up for the iPhone X.

I don't like the fact that they are making it sound like they have invented things that have been around for several years.

They say they came up with a new display technology that allows the display to have curved corners. That's OLED. It's been around forever.

They make it sound like they invented wireless charging.... been around forever.

FaceID is cool and all but Samsung has Iris scanners and such.

Apple makes wonderful products and one can argue that they perfect technologies that have already been around.... but they have to stop claiming they invented these technologies.

iPhone X is the very best iPhone Apple has ever made. How can anyone not be impressed? It's unbelievable what they have created here.

This is so true "iPhone X is the very best iPhone Apple has ever made"
even though other companies "made" similar phones awhile ago and much cheaper :)
I am sold on the Apple watch series 3. Hopefully, I can pair it with my iPhone 7 Plus.

The notch was deliberately made like that. This way, your eye is drawn to it and the camera, enabling the face lD.

So your eye is constantly drawn to the notch, which lets you use the phone.

Genius.

When watching a movie or making a call, just make sure you keep glancing at the notch. It's not hard as it's like right there.

Totally underwhelming. Is it me or did the presenters also give off that vibe...just not excited! I really wanted to come back to Apple this year but after that I'm staying put with my S8 and may even purchase the N8 as I was set to purchase the new iPhone.

Those icons...its just the same old same old. Honestly how long is Apple going to get away with this?

they were totally unprepared with keynote presentation and supplies.

this is the first year in a long time that I've been so unimpressed with Apple's offerings. mostly disappointed that iPhone X only comes in one size and is only offered in 64GB/256GB. I need more than 64 but way less than 256. annoying. iPhone 8 not having portrait mode is ignorant. I honestly have no clue which way I'm going to go.
There are ...."alternatives."

Supposedly FaceId did not fail the first time, it just wasnt set up on the iPhone - on screen it said something like 'Enter your passcode to enable FaceId'. SO bad demo, but didnt appear that it was FaceId failing.

problem is I have too few kidneys to afford all the apple gear I want
would defintely indulge in a iphoneX+watch3 if the finances allowed it

I'll wait for the X. The 8, while nice, seems like too minimal of a change for me.

And yet you’ll be paying much, much more over the odds for just a new screen (with a giant ugly cut out at the top) and FaceID (which doesn’t work).
