Why is there no "buy without carrier" option for the iPhone X? It's available for iPhone 8, but not for the X. Will they add it when we get closer to the pre-order date?

i'm actually currently slowly falling into the "not buying" category.

biggest reason: the X got slightly bigger than the iphone 7.

i had the galaxy s7 for a few months, which is slightly narrower and slightly thicker than the X and it was borderline uncomfortable for my hands. (1 handed use)

afterwards i switched to the iphone 7 and it was like heaven to hold, because its thinner and narrower. it just fits perfectly.

long story short: i compared the sizes and now i'm pretty sure the X would less comfortable to use.

sad thing is: if apple would just eliminate those thick bezels on the left and right side of the phone it would probably be perfect for me..

Definitely. My alarm is already set to order.

I'll be getting the 256gig.

The only thing I'm still undecided on is color. I absolutely love and adore the Jet Black I have, so it wouldn't be an issue if that were still an option. I'd even happily switch to a (Product) Red version, but I can't decide between space gray and silver, because they're both lovely, but not as striking as I'd like.

I'll see what the 8s look like in the real world, since I have SO MUCH TIME to decide.

Yes. Space Gray for sure and probably the 256k. Will have my Mac, iPhone and iPad ready to go at 3:01 a.m. Eastern Time. I don't like getting up in the middle of the night to order but we do what we gotta do!

I am. I have a 7+ now and will be buying a 256gb Space Gray.

I have been around for and participated in enough Apple launches to not believe all the whiners and naysayers on these forums. It's Apple..... will it be perfect? Maybe not, but I'm confident it will be a great phone and I'm certainly not missing out on a flagship model..... perfect or not. Apple doesn't do things half-assed. X owners are going to be happy and this space will be flooded with a gazillion thread proving all the whiners wrong. It happens every.single.time.

I don’t find it expensive.

That's quite evident. The 'I can afford it so screw everybody else' attitude is held by a handful of posters here.

The concern is Apple are out of touch with the demographics that buy their products and this could be detrimental to their future popularity. If we show less of an elitist attitude, we might just see better products at reasonable prices in the future iterations. Right now we have a sub par S8 copy with an inferior screen at an inflated price. That's nothing to brag about.

I am all confused tbh. I dont know what to buy at this point. I keep thinking about the Pixel 2 but then I think about my AW.

If the Pixel looks like the S8 with minimal bezels I might just get that keep the 7 Plus as my foothold in Appleland. If the Pixel costs $999 I will get the iPhone X because I have no choice.

If I can get it for a deal, then yeah. Signed up for the 6S a couple of months after release for $22/8GB/month, calls & SMS included (work deal).

Hoping for a similar deal...

This is the first time in many years that I have not ordered a new iPhone the first day that they became available.

It has to do with Apple’s lack of support for Band 71, the new spectrum that T-Mobile bought to cover long distances in rural areas and future 5G.

Unfortunately, my main residence is located in the middle of an area that benefits from Band 71, and I also travel and work in areas that would have benefitted from Apple’s support of this band.

When T-Mobile rolled out Band 12 in this part of the world, it was suddenly worthwhile to switch away from AT&T. So I have coverage with Bands 2 and 12.

But I don’t see the urgency to buy a new iPhone when it doesn’t cover the one LTE band that would make life significantly better for us.

I am still an Apple supporter, and will be fine with the 7 Plus and SE until we get Band 71.

However, I am disappointed that Apple did not look forward to this and provide for it.

Perhaps the SIM Free version will have Band 71.

Me being able to purchase the phone for a $1.20 more per month has nothing to do with anyone else or their buying decisions. I can afford it and I think it's a big upgrade, so I will. That's all there is to it. Apple products have always been expensive. If you can't afford it, there are plenty of options if you want to stay with iOS. If you prefer the S8, buy that. It's not that deep.

Whats inferior screen wise to the galaxy s8 plus? I keep seeing this be mentioned.

The S8 is a AMOLED opposed to an OLED in the X. It also has a higher resolution. That is likely what people are referring to, but you'll have to wait until results come out that look at more than just numbers. Apparently all recent iPhone models have scored very well against even OLED Android phones on the market for years.

After looking at a few more ipX videos, it only reinforced in my mind that this iPhone is not ready of prime time.

I will also tell you that all the features in the ipX may not arrive in the standard models next year if you were thinking that ...and some of you are probably hoping that.

OLED will happen in the + model next year. It's practically a given. But I'm not so sure about the smaller 4.7 model.

As said so many times before...incremental improvements every year, folks.

In any event, those that will buy the ipX...have at it.

Even if I think the iPhone is flawed or wanting in so many ways, at least as a stockholder in Apple (as I am sure many here may also be)...an Apple sale in the end...benefits us.

No one in my family is buying this phone. I'd recommend the standard models (or the previous year's models) if someone was looking for advice.

If the iPhone X was the same price in Europe that it is in the US, it would be affordable for most. You guys pay $999 (£735). We are paying £999 ($1,356) and this is for the base model with a mediocre 64GB storage option. This is why people are pissed off and it's greeted with a pompous response of 'well Apple products are expensive so if you can't afford it buy an Android or inferior iPhone'.

I've spent years on this forum defending iPhone users against people calling us fanboys and elitist snobs and this is first time I've seen it with the release of this phone. We've even had people asking for the price to be to be put up to £2k so they can feel even more superior for owning it. It's pathetic.

People can only speak for themselves though. It's a personal buying decision and Apple is a business. I am not sure about your last point as that is not something I would ever say.

Wife and I will both get it in 256, but not sure on color. We usually use cases so it will probably be an availability factor.
