Man, at this point of time, where mandatory mask law is in place and I don’t believe COVID 19 will go away anytime soon, I will stay with phone with fingerprint sensor. This is why I went from iPhone 11 to iPhone SE with iPhone 6S Plus as secondary phone.

This 120hz, what is so ‘must have’ about it and where would I notice the difference from the current supposed brilliant experience?
For me its a subtle enhancement but it is noticeable, I have the iPad Pro and in general usage everything just seems that little bit smoother, more natural feeling and more responsive.
For instance when scrolling a large webpage it almost feels like I am physically reaching in and manipulating the webpage itself rather than prodding a screen. That being said I’m not sure how much of it is due to the massive 12.9” screen and how much is down to the 120Hz. It’s subtle but I sometimes miss it when switching back to my iPhone 11 especially after just using the iPad, if there is a gap between last using the iPad and using the iPhone i hardly notice the difference.

I agree!

I do wonder if 120Hz is really needed on a phone, I feel a bump to 90Hz could be good enough and perhaps more battery efficient? I know that there is a noticeable difference, but I'm not sure 90-120 is as appreciable as 60-90. Most buyers don't care anyways.

As for Face ID/Touch ID, I see having both as the best compromise but I still think it will be a while before Apple tries an under-screen fingerprint sensor.

People only care when they get features...

It just makes the animations a lot more smoother. It’s noticeable but not a must have. It’s more of them holding back features while still maintaining the same high price that will keep me from upgrading.

I’m not going to lose any sleep over my next iPhone not having it then. I’ve seen people here declaring they are pulling out of their planned upgrade unless the phone comes with 120hz and this seems drastically over the top.

Yeah it shouldn’t be the sole reason to upgrade or not, it’s nice but not essential.

That being said when you are paying over £1k for a “Pro” phone you’d want it to be packed with everything they can possibly put in it especially when all the competition has that particular feature. So I can see why people are threatening to hold off on an upgrade without it, but for me personally if I was to upgrade it wouldn’t be the deciding factor.

{Soon? Try never. And you’re looking at a stage where it will mutate into a different strain. That’s off-topic for now.}

Face ID will probably have to alter its way for Apple to be re-developed For a ‘workaround’ with mask wearing, (which it sort of has already), but will continue to evolve given this is how it will be moving forward in the future.

However, now, more than ever, I am confident we will see touch ID under the display and face ID coexist with each other on the same phone model in the future, which that interests me to have both options of biometric security, versus having to choose one over the other.

All the iPhones are now evolved rectangles.

I have the iPhone 6s Max. It looks and feels cumbersome compared to the recent evolved iPhone which feels like a piece of artwork in the hand...art to feel, to see and to use.

Think about it. An A14 cpu/gpu that can blow away my quad core 2012 iMac with its 680MX. My machine had a hernia playing a 2004 game...and all over current Intel cpus that run very hot.

This next iPhone is a thing of wonder. Passive performance that reels the senses.

'Boring.' Yes.

...and...

No.

Perception.

But I am bored of phones. Mine is switched off.

Still waiting for that iMac update.

Azrael.

Ok google lies.

Making a small portion of lower-end models (note: making the 11 Pro or Pro Max has not yet been attempted in India, the best they can do at present is the 11) in India is not the same as making them all there.

The majority of iPhones continue to be made in China and that won't change anytime soon. The balance may shift away, but it hasn't yet.

The virus seems adopt and evolved well. Many places that was opened up seen second waves. I have this bleak view of future where this virus going be with us for long time. Wearing face mask is going to be new normal for us.

Not that I like mask or it is comfortable, but necessary.

Therefore, I think TouchID would be necessary. It is too bad that I am not using my iPhone 11, because of FaceID is just too annoying right now.

No 120hz was due to display issues not battery life it seems. So apple could have added it but would you want display issues? Certainly not

Rather apple wait for LTPO with a different panel to get the display collaboration correct

Yeah some people swear they can’t use a display without 120hz

It’s become the sudden vital feature for some and yet the iPhones without it up until now have been smooth. You’d think scrolling webpages has been a stuttering mess by the way it’s being described lately on here. I suppose I can criticise as I was never going to buy a Pro iPhone anyway, but hey.

I don't know about you people but I feel like the 2020 iPhone will be a very boring update. 5G is neat but the rest of it seems mediocre. Just nothing that seems exciting or innovative . I would love Touch ID built into the screen, 120 hz screens, and no notch and none of those things are likely in iPhone 12. Maybe Apple is better than usual with covering up leaks but this seems like a boring update. Lesser update than the " S " updates of the past.
I need a new iPhone 12 Pro Max for 3 Reasons.
#1. Diablo Immortal
#2. 120Hz OLED Display
#3. 5G on new Sprint/TMobile plan Tethering is crazy fast. Turns my iPhone into a 5G hotspot.

I get those on android who have had 120hz on their phones and yes it would be hard to go down to 60hz so i get that. However if you are used to 60hz displays it won’t be an issue for those people as it’s the same as they are used to.

i notice the difference going from iPad Pro to iPhone 11 Pro Max but for me i would rather have the 120hz on my iPad Pro with my keyboard where the high refresh rate is more important As you are scrolling more on an iPad certainly when it’s your laptop replacement like it is with mine.

for me if apple nail the camera again and add better zoom and improve night mode and add it for telephoto for me that is more important

Seeing rumours again now that the pro models will have 120hz but possibly limited by software so not sure what that could mean for the future if it comes disabled out the box and maybe turned on later?

$250 dollars difference between the iPhone 6.1 Max and Pro, so I guess is it worth paying the extra on the off chance you could possibly get 120hz, I am not convinced.

Of course if you don’t care about 120hz this is a non issue.

In a world of large phones, I find the 5.4 very refreshing. While we have the SE2 it’s still based on a dated design. Also a big fan on the squared off body instead of normal rounded edges.
