Yes.Do you really feel 10GB iPhones with a 720P LCD screen is feasible in 2016 when Samsung has already moved to 32 gigs and 2K OLED displays
My iPhone has moved up to 64GB! Beat that Samsung lol

Edit: this was a dig at the juvenile way this thread is going and how seriously people take the 'my phone is better than your phone tripe'. This was never meant to be taken seriously and it's laughable I have to point this out.

I wonder if there were people who thought BlackBerry was doing just fine, too.

I'm sure there were. I believe blackberry comparisons are pretty premature and not related. That's an extreme case imo, almost a doom and gloom scenario.

I agree.

Was just wondering. I wonder if we'd recognize it in ourselves for Apple. You know what I mean? Before it's too late. Like it was for BB.

Well they were the business phone of choice for quite a few years. I had a few myself.

I loved all my blackberries. It was RIM that brought me into the smartphone world.

I had the Curve 8830* (or something like that?) in gold; I loved that thing.

*correction: curve 8320.

Wait, how did this news get missed yesterday?

Apple Expects First Ever Decline of iPhone Sales Next Quarter

https://www.macrumors.com/2016/01/26/apple-expects-first-ever-iphone-sales-decline/

This ended up being confirmed didn't it?

Serious question: Is this a big deal? I don't always know how to accurately interpret these things.
[doublepost=1460230182][/doublepost]
I'm shrugging my shoulders here mate. I don't generally buy a phone based on looks and the iPhone 6 Plus is a huge phone I would never buy anyway.

However, you do know that many people do buy Apple for design, right? Including the iPhone. Jon ivy is a name most people know. Apple and good design is often tied together in a bow. This is a common conception of Apple had by many. Not you, but many others. Apple spends a good amount of time in their new product launches talking about design, both aesthetically and relating to function. It's a big part of Apple even if it isn't a big part to you.

If you're an Apple fan, as you profess to be, shouldn't you care a little more? That they might be losing the design game?

Apple spoke about that a couple of weeks ago, during their last financial call. Whether it's significant or not depends on the market as a whole, there have been talks that growth for the entire mobile industry may be on the decline. What will make it significant, IMO, is if other oems show growth while apple shows decline. The talks of the S7 showing growth is a good sign, but they need to keep that up. Hopefully this lights a fire under Apple, not feeling the leaked info we've been getting thus far.

I think we're finally starting to see the impact of the push to the low and mid-range by so many other OEMs. People are seeing they can get good quality at a significantly lower price. IIRC, the biggest growth is coming from Chinese OEMs like Huawei and Xiaomi that are coming in far under the price point we see from Apple and Samsung flagships. It hit Samsung first and I think we're now seeing the breaking point for the iPhone.

I mentioned it before...since Apple seems to be content riding the wave of profits they've seen for years now, I really hope they experience a significant hit in the wallet to hopefully give them a good dose of reality. I personally don't think the iPhone is in dire straights or in need of a massive overhaul, but Apple needs some renewed focus and the iPhone in particular could use some changes.

I don't profess to be an Apple fan, you've made a false assumption there. I'm just somebody who owns an iPhone because I like it as a product. I like the ease of the interface and pure product design is secondary despite it being my profession.

I don't think the iPhone is bad design and I don't think it falls short in that department. I just don't buy it purely on how the phone looks. I also don't think they are losing the design game, that is just forum talk from what I can see. I know there is an awful lot of hope in the geek community that the iPhone is suddenly going to nosedive to its death, but that doesn't get away from the fact it's one of the best phones out there and it's popular. I haven't seen anything to suggest any of this has changed.

Word.

I believe neither of us would bet against Apple.

Am I the only one that thinks the iPhone 7 is going to be impressive? I have seen all the leaks but I just think that Apple is going to surprise us.

for me personally i don't mind the back....but remove that logo from the front please!
I like the logo on the front. Helps me quickly determine which end is which when I grab my phone. I couldn't even count the number of times I have had my previous plain black logo-less phone turned upside down. It's a little thing, but it annoys me.

The latest I've seen seems to indicate that Apple is going to go off their tick-tock cycle (redesign is the tick, S model is the tock) and offer another iterative version (tick-tock-tock) with the 7, with major changes made for the 2017 model. The renderings I've seen seem like mild updates to the 6/6s--same body style with changes to the antennae lines. Biggest news so far is the inclusion of the dual camera in the 5.5" model.

The 2017 model looks like it might be the major overhaul---new body style with curved glass and smaller bezels, OLED display.

I was already heavily leaning towards sticking with my 6S+ for another year based on these early rumors as I'm very happy with it. I'd love the dual camera but if 2017 looks to be the big year of change, I'll do my best to resist and forgo the upgrade (the $950 or more cost for my preferred model is additional incentive to stand pat).

Yup, same boat I'm in. I'm hoping the rumors the false, planning on upgrading this fall, but if it's another tock I'll try my hardest to wait.

These being the key words. :D I've never shown enough willpower to skip a year yet so let's see if I'm actually able to break my own upgrade cycle. ;)

Yeah, so far I've had almost every iPhone model, including both regular and plus models of the 6 and 6S. The only 2 I never got was the original iPhone and the iPhone 5C.

I have the same feeling. I can't wait to see what they have for us in the IP7. I know I'll be jumping to it from the 6s+...same for the Note 6

yeah the latest rumours / renderings seem to be underwhelming. But I just have a gut feeling we are going to see something special or something that no one expected. Maybe a camera that blows everything on mobile devices away. We will see I guess. I may be completely wrong and Apple disappoints, hopefully that is not the case.

I do think the dual cameras will bring a significant improvement to the camera. It's all speculation for now. Wwdc will begin to show what to expect since iOS 10 should be revealed.

Nah. Cook has pretty much said that the decline is because of the massive sales of iPhone 6's last year and then the influx of the 6S during the Chinese New Year a few months back. Basically, very few new iPhone buyers left willing to buy mid-year in China. So yeah, a minor decline in sales is expected in this Quarter and maybe even the follow on quarter until the iPhone 7 release.

Personally, I think that was why they released the iPhone 5S aka SE; To help mitigate the financial loss with a high profit, low cost iPhone that they already had assembly lines tooled for.
