Been using the XS Max for a week now and here is what I think of it.

1. Got the eSIM activated and having two lines in one phone is amazing. I am already abroad so roaming on the eSIM (home carrier) and using a local physical SIM :)
2. The XS Max takes a really long time to regain coverage if lost compared to other phones, even the Intel X and 7
3. Sometimes the XS Max drops/resets the local carrier coverage if it takes longer than usual getting coverage back to the roaming eSIM (not noticeable, and does not do it while actively using the physical SIM so not an annoyance)
4. Either Manual Search is broken or it is my main carrier roaming agreement. If I pick any of the local carriers on my eSIM my XS Max shows no service and never connects to them. Setting it to auto makes it connect to one of the very same carriers in less than a minute. This is weird as I was able to select carriers manually just fine on my roaming (but physical) SIM on my old iPhone which is why I believe the XS Max manual search is kind of broken
5. What is important for you all to know is that the coverage is not worse than the Intel X, Intel 7 or Qualcomm 6 Plus I have. It is actually just as good and in some cases the XS Max showed better coverage for the eSIM.. slightly better.

I am really enjoying my XS Max and this is easily one of the best iPhones I have ever had.

What iOS are you using?

Does anyone still having issue with the XS Max? I am still having issues with Wifi, dropped calls...
I definitely noticed a speed difference with web apps compared to my Note 8.
For a phone this price, it doesn't work that well as a phone.

What are you guys going to do to resolve the problem? Somehow you need to hold Apple accountable and either get a refund or get another phone (like an iPhone 8) that does not have reception problems.

I am not having these issues on my max. The only thing is that it seems to take longer than my old 6s in acquiring an lte signal.

Well, i plan to do class-action lawsuit. APPLE caused a problem that is either non-existent or affects a tiny % of owners...and that is making me read 163 pages on an Internet forum. Then due to PVM crap, i now have a headache and eye strain. And then at end of day, there is no factual data to support XS having worst cell connection than older iPhones.

How dare Apple!

I with you ( note* I am based in chile )

So.. the problem still exist then? oh my gosh. Keep my X until 2019 or maybe 2020, when apple launch a non-notch with 5G iPhone.

Here are several interesting tidbits:

https://www.zdnet.com/article/goodb...h-and-size-put-the-iphone-xs-back-in-my-hand/

"After six weeks, I realized I just could not put up with the less capable wireless technology (of the XR) that daily made my streaming media pause on my commute and had calls drop without warning."

https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...lems-with-call-quality-and-connection-issues/

"Many Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners are reporting a wide variety of issues related to phone calls, behaviors which cover a range of things from more "basic" call sound quality problems like choppy or inconsistent audio and tinniness to long call connection times and intermittent microphone failure.

Reports are widespread, with a surprising number of threads posted to both Google's Product Forums and Reddit. Based on those reports, the issue doesn't seem to be restricted to any one carrier or device, with both sizes and seemingly multiple SKUs in several countries experiencing call-related issues, and the problems manifest on both Wi-Fi and cellular calls."

---------------------------------------------

The reason i highlight these two articles is because both of the mentioned phones (XR and Pixel 3) have better "numbers" according to FCC filings.

As i mentioned before, FCC documents are NOT to be used to come to any conclusion in real world performance.

Hope that i don't offend anyone here with this post.... :D

I'm not sure from the posts on this forum that people are having many reception issues with the XR.
I think it's mainly XS and XSM.

The Pixel 3 call quality issues are not caused by having poor reception, or issues acquiring signal like the XS and XS Max. The issues are most likely software or codec issues that need to be adjusted, just like the memory management, and speaker that vibrated/distorted at lower volume levels issue which got corrected in software.

I read a lot of the threads about the Pixel 3 call quality issue, and most users reported it only manifested itself when in a quiet environment, when in a windy/noisy environment the issue doesn't appear. This leads me to believe it's a software issue with background noise canceling being too aggressive/not optimized.

Strange how you came to that conclusion on Pixel 3 when it CLEARLY stated otherwise in the article.

happy new year for all guys :) hope all have a good 2019 and buy the iPhone XI :)

Why wait when you have XS with #1 camera system, best damn processor (especially when Kirin and Qualcomm are so behind), and best damn display? You would be so much worst getting a Huawei or any other Android.

To be fair with today's SOCs synthetic benchmarks are kinda pointless. Lets face it, not everyone is on an A12 bionic, or a Snapdragon 845. Because of such fragmentation there will never be that "killer" app that can take advantage of the extra horsepower during the year, or two after that phone was released. It's all about OS optimizations, which makes iOS a little better than Android. The cameras are debatable. I've seen a bunch of reviews, where the reviewer favors the S9/N9 cameras over the XS in certain aspects. Also Huawei has a triple lens in their Mate pro. So to say Apple has the best camera is not entirely accurate.

60 FPS gaming is not real world enough?

A12 also allows it to be futureproof.

Camera? XS has the best camera system in the world, per DPreview. It has the best combination of pics and video capability, bar none.

Display? Ask XDA Developer (big Android developer site) what they think of XS/X display.

Sure... With an in house SOC design and an efficient OS of course you're going to get good frame rates on Battle Royale games, such as Fortnite and PUBG. Also some apps will probably load a few seconds faster. That's the advantage of controlling both the hardware and the software. However in real world situations it makes little difference, most people aren't playing the latest FPS, rather loading and using social media apps and texting. The displays are Samsung screens tuned by Apple. Samsung could also tune the same screens for a more natural look that would look identical, instead of being a little over saturated. I personally like a slightly more saturated screen than natural.
