Count me in the list of people having LTE and WIFi issues with the iPhone XS.

Upgraded to a XS from 6 (not by choice. The 6 died on me)Since upgrading the XS has had very noticeable degradation of LTE strength. I work in the financial district of the city I live in and XS cannot get a LTE signal. It’s always connected to 3G only. Was NEVER the case with the 6.

I sit side by side with a colleague with a X on the same network provider and his phone has LTE while mine is 3G.

At home I use google WiFi with 4 nodes. I put my XS, 6s and 8+ side by side and did a WiFi test. 6S 300MB/S, 8+ 300 MB/S, XS 100 MB/S

Called apple support and went through the usual troubleshooting and nothing worked. At the end of it I was advised by apple support to exchange the phone for a new one.

Extremely disappointed that a 1k phone behaves this way. Checking emails is a challenge. Let’s not even talk about YouTubing (I.e an impossibility).

Just chiming in to add additional validation to the thread. My XS is by far the slowest of my devices when connected via WiFi (LTE speed is also slightly slower and it stick to LTE less often than my 8+). It’s shocking that Apple didn’t catch this issue in testing. Still debating whether to return or wait for software update.

I would return it . They are saying 12.0.1 could be out as early as tomorrow but they don't think that will fix my phone and want me to mail it to them so they can look at it .

12.0.1 will magical remove the crappy intel modem and then install qualcomm modem......What people should look at is their return day that is coming up soon.

All the phones were on wifi.

.

note 9 has cellular signal. both new iphones didn't even have a sim card inserted. not saying iphone xs max doesn't have a good battery but that test is laughable. especially when we saw how bad the xs max battery did when it had to use 4g....

The Adirondacks.
AT&T just pushed 33.2 to my 8+. I do see a slight improvement in reception from my usual test location. 2nd update since 9-15.

Can’t rule out a carrier/iOS 12 issue yet IMO. :apple:

Couldn't wait for the Xs Max. Now can't wait to return it.

7 Plus had zero problems in my office. Xs Max will cycle between one bar of LTE then to 4G and then back.

Dropped multiple calls, including when I'm using WiFi calling and straight cell calling.

Battery life is not as good as the two year old 7 Plus, I assume because the phone is constantly searching for LTE connectivity or running on 4G. Not sure if that's a reason for battery drain or not.

Lastly, with IOS 12, the three familiy members that share our Apple ID now REGULARLY have all of their text conversations merged into one so it's impossible to text one individual and not the other.

Before you start in about not sharing an Apple ID. . . it has worked perfectly for 7 years with multiple versions of IOS and probably 20 different iPhones and iPads.

Regardless, not waiting around to see if this problem is hardware or software . . . or if it's software how long it will take for Apple to issue a functional patch.

My $1,450 buy in means I'm not in the mood to be a Beta tester.

One more gripe . . .

Maybe this would improve with familiarity, but IMHO FaceID and CarPlay do not play well together. It's much more convoluted to unlock the phone in the car with FaceID than with using the dedicated Home button.

Did you expect to be able to share an ID in perpetuity? Because that seems awfully naive.

Didn't go through 39 pages in this thread but feel that I am seeing people having a similar issue I am having. I have on multiple cases have had to shut LTE / Cellular Data off and then back on again because I could not connect. I haven't had any real issues with Wifi but definitely on cellular. It looks like I have 3 or 4 bars of 4G or LTE when this happens but I can't connect. The only fix is turning cellular data off, waiting 10 seconds, then back on again.

I just had an issue with Instagram, I was uploading a 30sec video on my Xs and Instagram would give me the message "We will try again when there is a better signal" but never uploaded the video. I was on wifi at at the time.

A co-worker took the same exact video, same wifi and uploaded it to Instagram in seconds on his iPhone X.

It will be quit disappointing if this isn't fixed with an update.

Since it has worked since we began buying IOS devices, yes, I expected it to continue to work.

I would also predict that there are a number of IOS users who are in the same boat.

Lastly, when researching the issue, there were a number of people who on Apple's advice split their accounts into separate IDs because of IOS 12 and still had the same symptom of text conversations being merged.

There you go again just putting out info that is not true. You really need to stop.

Sad that you can't stay out of this thread and can't stop trolling me . Not everything apple does is great and without problems .

Agreed. He had the “inside” info from Verizon a few years ago that ended up being completely false. He still insists that Verizon “changed their mind”.

It’s impossible for anyone on this board to say with certainty that this problem does or does not impact all the new models.

Anyone want to start placing bets 12.0.1 comes out soon so Apple can at least say it’s being addressed for the extremely limited sample of people who are experiencing a very small difference in their connection speeds?

Odds are higher that people will do as usual and tell others who are reporting the problem that it isn't a problem.

Oh wait....

I think there are issues... But that is NOT proof.

Different servers.

See I have all apple products and have owned all iPhones since iPhone 5. I had pre-ordered 256GB XS Max, here in India on Launch day(21st for us), for about $1750. And we don't have return policy here, its only replacement, that too pretty tedious one.

There is something that needs to be sorted out by Apple. Being such a reputed company comes with a great responsibility. If they falter, there has to be a cost.

The order is cancelled now. Its been one of the most difficult decisions, but yes cancelled. Will wait for the dust to settle.

Ok, so I'm not going crazy. Went from iphone 8 plus to Xs Max and the reception is total garbage. Where I used to have poor reception now I have none and when exiting the elevator the Xs Max takes 5-10mins to connect back.

No issues with wi-fi

I was 100% correct on the Verizon thing years ago and even backed it up with internal documents. Pretty sad that you are still trying to troll me over something that happened almost 5 years ago . I am guessing the ban you received on HOFO for trollling wasn't enough for you to have learned your lesson. I am sorry that you were proven wrong. Take care !

I just fedexed my phone to the engineering team at apple and they should start taking a look at it tomorrow afternoon. They offered to upgrade me to larger storage for free for my troubles and helping them out .

And these variables comfortably connive to downgrade only Xs and Xs Max performance.
"Professional" .....

He performs speed tests and thats it. There are far too many variables out of his control for it to even be a reliable test. This guy is anything but professional.

As for the camera, yeah...it's darn good! Took a few night shots 2 nights ago, severe fog, with the moon. Came out much better than I expected - with that SmartHDR. NO way I could get that years ago.

Mind if you share that picture? Is it a clear shot of the moon or is it covered with fog as well?

Apple is far from great! You on the other hand just cannot help yourself with making up stuff as you go. You are sad and don’t like being called out for it. Too bad hot shot!!
