I will return it back to Best Buy and buy a new one in Apple Store, then I will instantly apply for a replacement and repeat this until I have a worked phone, or Apple resolve this fxxking issue. End of the words.

That won't work. End of the words.

I second that. Apple has knuckled down on replacements. They will tell you the device passed all tests and off you go.

PS. I finally learned how to multi-quote. I didn’t realize it was so easy. Whoops! xD

The iPhone XS Max has too many problems
Yellow screen,Signal issue,Wifi issue, charging issue mines going back tomorrow for a full refund not worth £1099 doing Apple beta testing software or hardware.

You would think a second generation iPhone X would be a better version of the first one. Last year’s antenna placement provided zero issues. Why change something that is perfectly fine? People who sold their iPhone X for $300-500 less than what they paid for it are probably kicking themselves in the rear end right now.

I never even thought of upgrading this year from my X. After reading all this stuff I'm glad I didn't. Hopefully it will get worked out for everybody, but what a headache for those with problems. :(

Same! I have the upgrading “itch” every year but not one bit this year. The X was released with iOS 11, which wasn’t so great. iOS 12 is even better on it so it feels like it was just released. I didn’t want to upgrade for several reasons... two reasons being the elimination of the Qualcomm modems and the position changes of the antennas. This is going to blow up within the media and Apple is going to be in hot water. So much for their goal of hitting record sales with these iPhones... more likely a record amount of returns.

I’m curious to see how the XR does.

I don’t think it’s the Intel modems per se, but rather the antenna design as the website you linked to shows, which means the XR won’t have any issues as it uses the same setup as the X and 8.

Wife iPhone XS Max Gold version 256GB AT&T she told me today over 3 drops calls facebook and youtube media always buffering compared to her old iPhone 8.

After checking the max phone out side by side with the iPhone 8 tonight I notice the difference between signal bars iPhone XS MAX only having 2 bars at the most.
iPhone 8 showing 4 bars signal and always locked in no drops at all.

Running a 1hr and doing a few speedtest runs and youtube runs with the MAX I did notice youtube does always buffer with cellular data sometimes cellular data drop out to no service and sub speeds like 4mb or less.

Doing the same test on iphone 8 speedtest run always run (67mb) fast with cellular data and youtube never buffer both iPhone 8 and MAX tested tonight with the same sim and both setup new with ios 12.

I have done everything I can this phone is going back to AT&T.

Something isn't right with software,ios12 or even hardware.

Lucky my Wife kept her old iPhone 8 back to that.

Maybe it’s SIM specific? If you reset network settings and it works initially, then slows down, maybe it’s pulling some kind of odd configuration from the SIM which is ruining the connection speed?
I highly doubt it's the sim card.
I tried the AT&T sim in both iPhone 8/MAX Both Phones same iOS 12 version and setup as new/No settings touched or messed about with only two apps youtube and speedtest.
Could be the antenna design on the MAX.

insane, anecdotal evidence of a fix, that worked for me by accident and perhaps coincidence. however, given the severity of issues for people i figured i'd share because its not that difficult to do, and why not at this point?

earlier today i was trying to see if my verizon iphone xs came unlocked or not and i borrowed someone elses sim card from an old sprint iphone. after playing around with that for a bit and waiting for service to come and find out the phone is unlocked, i went back to the original sim card. and the rest of the day i've had SIGNIFICANTLY better service.

this is an area at my work by the way where my iphone x struggled and my ipone xs the past week was basically incapable of using data - often not even being able to send texts or run a speed test, and wouldnt even consider loading a fantasy football website. today i can legitimately browse the internet, run speed tests, take care of my fantasy team, etc.

so be skeptical, and i am too of what caused things to change. maybe something on verizons end in the area - who knows. but what i do know is that the phone's functionality today is SOOOO much better than the past week.

iPhone XR FCC tests were released:
https://www.wiwavelength.com/2018/09/iphone-xr-trades-4x4-mimo-for-greater.html
Looks like my next option if the XS Max is a dud.

You guys do realize that this is a blogger trying to interpret FCC reports, nothing more. They haven't actually tested any of this.

[doublepost=1538083209][/doublepost]And to all the new shill accounts. Do you really think you're going to sway Apple users on an Apple oriented site based on your alleged experience.

It's probably the most pathetic attempt yet by android manufacturers.

Hahahah. Does anyone actually believe this clown?
Stay classy my friend ! There is no need to call people names. And Apple has already upgraded and shipped me a replacement 256gb XS phone . I don't think a senior rep would have ever upgraded me but when you are working above that level anything is possible. Have a great day :)

Get over yourself. If you think those of us having issues are making this up and have shill accounts, or are android fans, then you really are more clueless than 99% of the people on this site.

Reminds me of the old meme from the early days on the internet: “all girls online are either men or FBI agents”. Some people can’t even fathom that there will be people on here willing to talk negatively about Apple. Sad, really.

I'm on Three UK too. Was out again today, checking signal etc. Had 3-4 bars most of the time, doesn't seem any different to my 6s Plus. 40-50mbps download (typical for Three in my area). It really is crazy how some people aren't affected at all.

Money says its people paid to post BS for other manufacturers who have seen abysmal sales of their handsets this year.

The other possibility is that it's just android clowns, who have (often literally) nothing better to do than make some weird jab at a phone manufacturer Apple. They've been obsessed with this since the first iPhone came out. It seems to really bother them that Apple even exists.

All you have to do is click on someone's profile to see when they joined. If you think all these reports from longstanding members of the forum are a multi-year conspiracy then I think you need to get your antenna checked.

(For the record I was an android user who pre-ordered the XS 256gb, but have been monitoring this issue because I already have a really weak signal and don't want to be totally hamstrung if the phone struggles with weak signal.)

Update: My wife's XSMax 64 GB gold just came in today, and hers also seems to be A-O-K, in addition to my own 64 GB space gray.

Well, I appear to be the sole Canuck in this thread, so as the de-facto representative of Canada :p, I report no issues with my XS Max so far with the Rogers Wireless network.
LTE connection is comparable with my X with some areas having better performance on my Max in terms of down speed. No dropped calls yet, even when talking over Carplay while driving around the city.
Wi-fi test is ok, but then again what they call 'high speed internet' here is 50Mbps up/ 10 Down so I haven't tried wifi on a real lightning speed connection. I don't have an issue reaching those speeds on my Wi-fi at home, but then even a 2.4 connection can sustain those speeds easily.

You know that objective criticism is healthy, right? Sorry we don’t all suck at the teet of the almighty apple and be happy about everything they give us. This isn’t communist China here. We can call out issues when we see them. All people complaining are android shills or trolls? This is crazy talk.

You mean OCD folks or the folks who seem to pop out of the woodworks with an issue every single launch.

I have both iphones and galaxy range phones for work. The alleged signal differences between the two are basically non-existent. Ok, the S9 sometimes connects back to LTE coverage x seconds faster than an iphone.

Android users and manufacturers still don't seem to grasp why we use apple. Hint: is isn't because of one or two speedtests. Granted, Apple pretty much beats them in every benchmark but LTE speeds. Then again, most people don't walk around running speedtests. They actually use their phone. For anyone living in a metro area, as in the majority of people today, fringe coverage is not an issue.

You seem very bitter for some reason ? Why are you bringing up something that happened 5 years ago ? Seems very childish to me . I have always owned IOS devices since the Iphone 4 and I don't do android . I also picked up a new apple watch and it works great so I am only posting about the cellular issues the Iphone has. I have logged every day since Friday and spent hours on the phone with the apple engineering team trying to get apple the correct info. I am still not sure what you are proving being an apple cheerleader.

How about the fact I have seen searching for signal on my phone 20X at my home since Friday. I have never seen that on any Iphone since the 4. So do you still want to admit that there isn't a problem ? I am under a tower so this shouldn't be happening. It happens on Verizon, AT&T and T-mobile so something is badly wrong .
