iPhone XS Max Is the mobile reception on the xs Max even worse than iPhone X ?

If you have a WIFI issue then your cellular is fine it's either or for some strange reason
I use Signal check Pro for the signal levels on the Pixel 2 and Field test mode on the iPhone. Then make sure the PCI and LTE bands are the same when comparing the RSRP values.
I wouldn't say it's a issue wifi has never dropped or anything, the range is just not as far. Mine was made 9/18.

could be wrong, T MO does not have strong signal at my location, but I think it's good enough to download what I need, when at home, it's always on my router, iPhone XS Max 512GB sim free

My phones had other issues in addition to the slow speeds and inconsistent service. Even when I tried to do the ##update#, it would say it’s updating and then nothing else ever happened. So I was having other issues too
In my home office, which has terrible reception on Verizon, got the following results:
Pixel 2XL - 110
Iphone X - 108
iPhone XS Max - 110
All suck equally.
A common issue on both iPhone X and Max is when going from an area of no reception to reception, it will stall at 3G unless I toggle airplane mode. Pixel 2XL on the other hand, doesn't have this issue at all.

If it was ‘one off’ Apple Would tell you to see genius not delete posts.
If Apple was to try and quietly fix with hardware change would have to admit previous were bad.
Do they need to re-file if changed antenna design in any way.
Hmm. Interesting results. That some what confirms what I noticed. I had the 2 XL briefly before the smaller 2 (which I have now). I found the smaller 2 definitely has better signal than the XL.
My XS Max regains LTE very quickly. However I have read others with the same issue as you.
What LTE band were you on?
iOS 12 beta 2 is available to the public. See if anyone see any difference. My LTE is faster.
Does not fix wifi or LTE issues. That will likely come with 12.0.1 or 12.0.2 if a software fix is even possible
I was excited to get the XS soon. Definitely not now. Sent this thread to Tim Cook & said I would consider buying it when they resolve this cluster. Gotta love social media.

my bad i retarted my router and everything is good. On Beta 2, my speeds are the same as my 8 plus. Good job on the update apple!

I don't make many calls however when I am on a call I am find it drops out and then it takes the phone approx. 10s secs to re connect to Telstra. I love the phone, however I am not happy about this.
As I stated in another post, AJ is quite visible and participates very frequently on the S4GRU forums and is a moderator there. While I do think his intention was to stir the pot by posting the stuff just before announcements as he’s never been an Apple fan, his initial observations and subsequent posts aren’t wrong either.
that's only a temp fix and the problems will return
If you can get it to temporarily fix, it is not a hardware problem. A hardware problem you can’t fix unless you redesign or replace hardware. If true, that right there shows it is some type of software problem.
