I'm really hoping they can get this all squared with 12.1 release for everyone who has issues. So far, they're updating the modem firmware per beta, I could only hope the carrier settings would follow soon.

With the new device, what’s the signal like in areas that struggle? My Qualcomm iPhone X does really well in an area where I visit family. AT&T and Sprint, both nonexistent. 6s, 7+ and now the X... signal quality got better and better. I like the camera on the Xs but lower signal quality in struggling areas is an absolute dealbreaker.

I don’t know. She’s not that technical. I asked if she was having any problems with her new phone and she said nope.

For myself my max signal reception is mixed. Sometimes it does way better than my old X. Sometimes worse.
Ex. My X used to get weak reception in the gym. My Max gets none.
Ex. My X rarely worked on the subway. My Max does a way better job getting a signal.

Oh please! They know exactly what the person is talking about if it's a widespread issue! Keep defending Apple! They are instructed to not engage in conversations like that with customers. It's supposed to be discussed with their geniuses if you are willing to make an appointment and wait god knows how long.
Thank god I don't own this overpriced phone that doesn't really work as a phone. I had enough with the Intel modem models last year! I'll probably keep my Qualcomm X until it dies LOL

That’s not been my experience. Swapped my girlfriends XS. Walked into crowded store in nyc, no appointment. Told the lady my gf is having cell reception problems.
She sends us upstairs. We check in with a guy there. Same message - we are having cell problems.
He sends us to a table. We wait for 10 min.
Guy comes out, says he’ll do a full exchange and they’re collecting devices with problems to send to engineering.
No questions asked and even replaced the screen protector on the phone for free.

I've said it before: there is nothing to address, unfortunately! It's a bad combo of the weaker antenna and the Intel modem that is slow at reconnecting after losing reception. It's not apparent in areas with decent and strong signal. Some people might never experience any issues at all, hence Apple will get away with it. Once again!

I don’t buy that. I think there’s a large batch of bad phones.
I’ve literally had my phone next to my girlfriends phone running speed test. I get ~ 90’s and she’s in low single digits.
Her replacement phone performs similar to mine now.

I think it’ll get resolved at some point. I couldn’t be happier with the performance I’m getting. I just got back from my local shopping mall and ran a few tests. I don’t have my X anymore, but when I did, both my x and my 6s plus always had trouble keeping a signal at this mall. There was one spot, in the middle of the shopping mall, that has a huge sky window, that would allow me to get a signal, but that was the only spot. And it was just good enough to send a text and maybe do a little surfing online, but definitely not videos. When I tested my max, it had signal throughout the whole mall and never lost its signal once. I did some speed tests as I walked and got around 5 to 10megs. It never went below 5 megs. Didn’t break any records, but my x would have barely gotten 1 meg and that would be in the center of the mall where the sky widow is. I have to admit that I’m not on Verizon, but I’ve heard that T-Mobile customers are also having issues. One last thing to point out, my iPhone X was the Qualcomm version and not intel.

Dropped a call again this morning. Held it fine for the first 5 minutes I was in my office then when I left it dropped the call about a half mile down the road. Only conclusion I can put to this is that it has a hard time with tower handoff. I’m only seeing issues when migrating, if I’m in one spot it’s pretty good.

If it's just a bad batch then why was the FCC performance data so bad relative to the X and the XR?

Has anyone taken their phone to the genius bar with LTE reception issues and found they've replaced it? I'm a bit tired of running these stupid tests and resetting the networks and all that garbage.

I believe several people have and the consensus is it generally doesn't fix the issue.

I think some people have mentioned it.

Just saw this post over in the Apple Community forum:

iPhone Xs Max poor cell phone reception fix?
I just got off the phone with apple and AT&T again. I’m going this weekend to the apple store to exchange my xs max for a different one. I was told it hardware not software. The apple rep then said if the second iPhone does the same thing to call back with my case number and they will open a case with the engineers as a hardware failure. I will update soon.

The 12.0.1 update seems to have fixed my wifi issue of connecting preferring my 2.4ghz over my 5ghz eero network. As for LTE, I use AT&T and is pretty much on par with my iPhone x, even though it should be a bit better.

I would go get it replaced. The more I read about this issue, whether it’s here or in other forums and podcasts, I’m seeing more and more people getting better results with a replacement. I know early on, people were getting the same results, but that might be because they were drawing from the same bad batch of phones. I don’t know what the problem is, but my phone isn’t having these issues.

Was it Apple that said it was a hardware issue? Would be interesting that they went on the record (even if not ‘annouced’). The next question is if it is hardware.. is it design or batch issue.

Have you tested in weak areas? Mine does better than X in good strength but way worse in weak. I shouldn’t have to choose if I am okay with that but I do. Don’t think any exchanges will help that.

I'm asking this here because I have asked numerous places and Googled and nothing.

Is there a way to transfer text messages and call log from Android to iPhone?

Move to iOS has failed to move anything.

Yes I got it replaced , they didn’t ask any question or checked . Just blindly replaced with new phone. New phone is far better than old one. But still probably not as good as iPhone 8 signal wise. But internet speed went up from 1.2mbps to 45mbps at my home
This is promising.

Yea maybe that's the case. I have been patiently waiting further word from Apple and the support technician I have been dealing with. However we are seeing more people claiming replacements have been better. As you stated originally most were having the same issues with replacements but maybe they were drawing from a same bad batch?

Either way I'll reach out to Apple support and if they still have no updates on the logs I sent, I'll inquire about a replacement.

Good question!
He notes that he will update so let's see if he follows through and does so.
