Installed ... Did not fix the problem. 😖There is a new update today for 16.1.1. Not likely to deal with this issue but you never know. I’m on the beta of 16.2 so no way for me to check.
If you’re willing to turn night shift and True Tone off you probably will not see an issue. When I do that, when dark mode is off, I really don’t see anything except the slight blurring of text that seems to be common with iPads when scrolling. I compared my M2 with my wife’s 2018 12.9 iPad Pro. She doesn’t use night shift or dark mode. So I turned my night shift and True Tone off. Then I scrolled the same web sites on her iPad Pro and mine. There was virtually no difference, and no difference in Mail or Settings which is where I also notice the issue a lot, which to me indicates a software issue with night shift on the M version iPads. Whether that is actually the problem or not will be determined over time. But get AppleCare and if necessary, if a software fix isn't released in a reasonable amount of time, get it replaced. That’s my plan.Damn….. I really dont know what to do….. i want the Ipad so bad but I had no luck 4 weeks ago because I had zo return the M1…. When I order within the next 2 hours I receive it tomorrow. Next week Im often not @home and I dont want to muss the delivery…. What bothers me is the fact that is not 100 sure it is only software related. I was so close to set my order and then a saw a few comments back that somebody has the problem even withe the display functions turned off 🙁
I'm on my second M2 12.9 with 16.1 and they both have the text turning pinkish when scrolling with True Tone and Dark Mode on. I don't use Night Shift. I've kept the second one because the screen is brighter and whiter but still does the same thing. My 11 M1 with 16.1 also has the text turning a color when scrolling with True Tone and Dark Mode on but in this case it's a very light green.Damn….. I agree but be careful being that adamant Some might not appreciate it, and I’ve had it come back to bite me in the a** before when I got frustrated why others couldn’t see the issue that was so clear to me🤦♂️This is software and I don’t believe anybody who says he/she does not have that effect when on 16.1 and M2 iPad 12.9” - unless he/she can demonstrate that in front of my eyes.
No one here can guarantee that it isn‘t a hardware issue but from all the posts here that is the most likely explanation - a software issue. When I’ve turned night shift and True Tone off I have virtually no issue. Someone on the AppleSeed beta discussion mentioned that now that I’ve made him aware of it he can see what he describes as a pinkish tint when scrolling on his M1 iPad Pro. He had previously stated he saw no issue. As almost all the others in this thread have indicated they weren't seeing an issue before 16.1, this thread seemed to have coincided with that release. My plan is to wait a reasonable amount of time for a software resolution, what that reasonable amount of time will be I don’t know, given that 16.2, as yet, hasn't improved this it might not be until next year and 16.3 that we see a solution. Please take a look at this site and at the bottom there is a comment from a guy who claims it is not a software issue but a hardware issue... Now Im confused and dont know what to do at all... I dont want to play the return and refund game anymore.... :-( I am wondering that there isnt a big threat in the official apple forum yet... I mean is this issue so rare or are we to sensitive?
M2 iPad Pro Bug: ‘Yellow Smearing’ While Scrolling for Some Users • iPhone in Canada Blog
A number of iPad Pro users are noticing a yellow smear on the display when scrolling, which is said to be more prominent when Night Shift is on.www.iphoneincanada.ca
Even with dark mode on, if night shift and True Tone are off I see virtually no issue. So if you can keep those 2 features off you should not be bothered at all.Ok, you said that you dont see it when you turn off nightshift and true tone off. Thats also my way to use it but I cant live without the dark mode. Does it really dont affect only the dark mode when nightshift and true tone is off?
I’m that guy from iPhone in Canada. I am not claiming it is absolutely not a software issue because there could be a software component to it. What I can claim without reservation is that it is not just a software issue because as I said, after getting the replacement, I’ve restored the new iPad Pro from the backup of the one I’ve returned (the one with yellow smearing) - so they are virtually identical, with all the same settings, and there is no yellow smearing on the replacement tablet. Please take a look at this site and at the bottom there is a comment from a guy who claims it is not a software issue but a hardware issue... Just curious how you went about requesting a replacement. Even though I believe this is a software issue I may go the replacement route because currently 16.2 does not resolve it so I’m not expecting a fix until 16.3 which won’t arrive until next year. I do agree with you that as much as these things cost no one should have any dissatisfaction with it.I’m that guy from iPhone in Canada. Even if there is a software bug, that obviously is not the whole story and that bug apparently interacted one way with the hardware of my original iPad causing the issue and differently (or not at all) with the replacement. My conclusion is that depending on the tablet you get, you will see the problem or you won’t even if there is a software glitch in 16.1. Future iPadOS updates may or may not fix the problem, so I would definitely go for a replacement as many times as necessary until a get a tablet that doesn’t exhibit this anomaly. It may sound excessive but in my view, anyone who drops that much money on it is entitled to a properly functioning device, instead of praying for a win on hardware lottery and/or hoping for the future software fix.
Hi, just to relief your shoulders a little bit. I just got a second Ippad pro M2 12.9 that I purchased while my other M2 is in the process of returning back to the store. And this iPad is working flawlessly, no yellow smearing at all of weird motion blur, but this new iPad I got it’s on the version 16.0. So again I won’t install the new os version until they figure out how to fix it, but I’m almost 99% sure that it is indeed a software error and not hardware 👍👍👍Just curious how you went about requesting a replacement. Ah, great! I had previously seen that you were getting a new one and I was waiting to see you post back. I’ve now seen several people including you who are saying the iPads on 16.0 do not have the issue, only those on 16.1 are seeing this. And some devices may well not be experiencing this on their replacement devices but that’s typical of software issues, not everybody will see or notice the same things. So leave it on 16.0 until this is addressed or you’re forced to update. Thanks for posting back!but this new iPad I got it’s on the version 16.0. No worries mate, it was also driving me crazy how bad the motion blur of my 16.1 ipad pro was, like literally reading an ebook at night would give me serious headache but now, with my 16.0 i am finally enjoying it like we should.Ah, great! It was within the return window after the original purchase (first day the ordering went live), but that actually never came up at the store. When I explained the problem I was having with it, they initially understood I was expecting a fix from them but when I clarified that I want a new one, they seemed happy to replace it. Their words: “why didn’t you say so, no problem”. They were also happy that I wiped it and turned off Find My so they didn’t have to bother with that. I can’t guarantee but I have a feeling that I would have been able to get the replacement even if the return window had closed because this might be considered a defect. It definitely affects the quality of experience Apple intended customers to have with their products.Just curious how you went about requesting a replacement.
