This smells a little shady. Do people get the codes from brutal force methods or is there a site where folks go to sell their code for a couple bucks which these folks then buy in bulk to resell?

Some of those community posts have links to full fledged stores with checkouts.

I went the store route myself.

People have access to, or buy for their own self, DVDs and bluray movies that have these codes included in them. Since I found out about this, I've sold or traded off a few codes from bluray movies that I've bought.
I know that at least one guy who gives away lots of codes in the Freebies section on a Google community simply owns a pawnshop and gets codes that way. There are plenty of people in similar positions.
It could very well be that a small few might get their codes from physical copies of movies in less-than-nice ways, but that's far from the only explanation a person could have and I've never seen any sign or talk of it.

I suspect that another source for vendors might be public libraries. Since they buy and loan quite a few disks, they could recover some of the cost by selling off the digital codes.

Most sellers I've purchased from are regular people who are selling the digital copy to lower the cost of Blu-ray ownership. I would imagine getting access to actual stolen codes (and not legit) is about the same as access to stolen Blu-rays and PS4 games, meaning it is possible but unlikely in such a vast quantity of illegal goods. In other words, it is easy to find a community of 10,000 people trading digital movie codes (so there is a greater chance they are legit). It is not so easy to find a community of 10,000 people selling stolen Blu-rays.

I wouldn't question a guy selling 100 codes of Jurassic World, but I would question a guy selling 100 codes to a digital PS4 or Xbox One game at half price because in that situation, it would be impossible to get that quantity without it being stolen.

I buy mine in bulk directly from a locally owned movie rental store and then flip them online.

not a code sale but the Fox Movie of the Day is Edward Scissorhands for $6...the best price i have seen on that.

then a bunch of Action flicks for the $9.99 sale...some are shown and then are not $10 but $15 (like Avatar...I should have grabbed that the week it was on sale for cheap before being pulled and put back to normal price the second half of the week)

Thanks for the heads up on Edward Scissorhands! It's always a great thing when the iTunes Extras include a commentary track -- or two, in this case. Always a little sad when the digital version carries over all the features except for the commentary (looking at you, Goonies).

I also think it's hilarious how they've modeled the newer cover and menu art after Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland style.

The releases the past week haven't been too bad. Picked up Burnt, Bridge of Spies, and The Last Witch Hunter. Also scored a cheap iTunes copy of Chef which I'm happy about.

not a movie code but these Lionsgate movies are $5 on iTunes.

(saw this via Bluray.com)

Cooties $4.99
Alpha and Omega $4.99
Shaun the Sheep the Movie $4.99
What We Did On Our Holiday $4.99
Huevos Little Rooster's Egg-cellent Adventure $4.99

Getting Snow White is like finding a unicorn. They are gone literally a second after they are posted. This is twice as frustrating as getting The Martian back when it first came out. At $8 to $10 a pop too.

Mainly because Disney closed multi-redeems on Disney titles. We won't see low Disney prices anymore.

there's rumor of a workaround...but i have not heard anything solid yet.

Yeah there are supposedly workarounds with redeems on Google or Amazon - but there are also people saying Disney is cracking down on these and locking DMA accounts.

Moving forward - I wouldn't take a chance with Disney anymore unless it's a full DMA code. Of course, prices will also be higher. You'll probably get the best deal with 50% off Vudu credits with new Disney titles.

With Flixster and Disney cracking down - you have to be real careful with codes now.

-Kevin

I PMed a guy on the Blu-ray forums like 8 seconds after his Snow White hit and I still didn't make it in time. He said he hit refresh once and got 7 PMs.

I've been able to sell dual redeem Snow White codes. For whatever reason, Canadian codes are working as usual. I don't have any at the moment, but if I can find a way to sell the excess Bluray I now have, I'll be getting a few more tomorrow.

I thought DMA was US only? Aren't Canadian codes regional for Disney?

Last I heard Canada wasn't affected - only DMA.

-Kevin

Yes, DMA is not available here. However, our Disney codes will redeem to US DMA accounts. It's frustrating for sure.

I can confirm our Snow White codes will dual redeem to DMA and DC+ though.

Thanks for the info. With Disney now limiting new titles to 1 redeem, I'd be careful with any multi redeems now. If Disney sees a code redeemed on 2 emails they might just lock both accounts.

I'm hoping past DC+ Amazon redemptions will be a little more safe since Amazon provides an Amazon specific code and treats it as a purchase.

I'm guessing past redeems will be fine as long as you never contact Disney. Guess people have been contacting Disney about codes not redeeming correctly that they bought and this almost always leads to Disney locking the account.

With Flixster finally fixing the TV show glitch, I think things are changing.

I'm going to only buy full codes for new Disney releases if possible - I don't need Disney/Apple/Vudu locking my accounts.

What will you do with the other redeem? Assuming Disney continues dual redeems and Snow White was just an anomaly...
